Working from home’s so nice. And I only have 2 hours to go 'cause we were told we could “go home” at 3.
We got invited to our neighbors’ for a party tonight. But I’m still feeling drained from this cold. I think maybe I’ll pop in to say hi and then come home and go to bed. I’m really not a party person anyway. More than, say, 4 or 6 other people around and I just feel uncomfortable and want to go stand in the corner. It’s really hard to explain when one of my good friends is really outgoing and loves parties and doesn’t understand why I never want to go out. She sort of seems to think I must be bored and depressed. But I like to come home after work to make dinner and then sit and knit. I don’t want to go out on Friday night. I’m not missing out on clubbing 'cause I don’t like clubbing. I think she’s starting to understand (We just had to do Myers Briggs for work so that helped.), but it can be a challenge to explain an introvert’s definition of happiness to an extreme extrovert. That’s completely irrelevant at the moment, but my post is coming out stream-of-consciousness so there you go.
Nice dress Pie! And don’t listen to the meanies of the world.
I hear you on the plans for tonight, taxi. I’m tempted to just stay home because I’m still feeling kinda blargh, but I suppose I’ll still drag my butt over to The Angry Russian’s later, because I don’t want to leave her in the lurch… I’ve already turned down my girlfriends who were trying to talk me into joining up with them at a club later on, tho (they work as hostesses for a singles’ meetup group, and they’re running a big NYE party event tonight).
I guess I got all that clubbing stuff out of my system many many years ago… if I could choose between sitting at home with knitting and hot chocolate, or standing around in a room full of strangers and loud music, I’m going with the knitting thankyouverymuch.
In other news, The Boy is on his way home from work, so we’re going to try to fit in some quality snuggle time. Wheeeeee!
In case I don’t check in again, Happy New Year’s Eve to you all!!!
**Pie **- when I saw the dress, my first thought was "She’s gonna freeeeeeze!!! Guess I’m in **Taters’ **mom-mode.

Yes, I’m home. They gave us 59 minutes, and I took 'em all! I figured since I’m going in Saturday, I can afford a short Thursday. Saturday will be mostly data compiling, I think. Then I have to distill the data into a few bullet points for some slides. The trick will be keeping it all short and sweet. And if anyone at the project review on Monday gives us any crap, I will go postal. That’s a promise!
N.O.T. soup for supper. I bet I’ll be asleep by 10. Oh yeah, I’m a party animal!
Ok, parental units, I do happen to have a small black crocheted sweater that I am wearing with it. It’s similar to the jacket that’s with it in one of the pictures.
I just went out and bought some shoes, or should I say, they followed me home. They are quite lovely and I’ll try to find a link to them when I’m not on my cell phone.
I shouldn’t complain. Each week I’m working overtime to help the group get caught up is another inch bigger TV that I can buy. (Remind me to put in some double-time tomorrow!)
**gotti **- I get to go in on Saturday, so I know what you’re talking about. I don’t get OT, tho. But I do get credit hours, so that helps. I can make a long weekend when things quiet a bit at work.
Veggies are cooking - if you’ve read my recipe, there’s more than N.O.T.s in my N.O.T. soup. In about 10 minutes, I’ll set my sweetie to mashing the veggies while I prepare the cream portion of the soup. Then we’ll dump the veggie mash into the milk mixture, warm it thru, and EAT!! YUM!!!
I’ll open the new year by doing laundry. Maybe even run the vacuum. Or nap. We’ll see how tomorrow pans out.
Ya know, swampy, there’s a reason why you’re also known as the King of TMI. :D:p
Pretty dress, Pie. Ignore the ex (I know, easier said than done, but still…).
I take it people still haven’t figured out that there’s a holiday, Spaz?
An MMP-Fest without pictures? That’s illegal!
I’m home, having run to Target to make sure that I had the appropriate gift cards for my niece and nephew. Gotta wrap stuff now as we’re celebrating tomorrow. They were going to come here, but we decided this afternoon that it would be better that I go there. That way I don’t have to worry about cleaning the house completely.
So, I’m currently cooking left over pork roast (it’s going to be shredded) and am going to make banana bread. Also need to pack and get stuff organized for what I want to do Saturday evening, Sunday and Monday (I have Monday off - yay!).
I’m sure I missed stuff I wanted to stay…I’ll come back after a while to catch up, I hope.
It’s not midnight yet, but I think I’m going to go crash soon. Everybody at work seemed oddly gleeful about telling people “I’ll see you next year!” as they left. Here I thought I was the only one goofy enough to think that’s (mildly) funny. Apparently not.
So Happy New Year, guys. yawn We’re supposed to get a few inches of snow overnight. I hope they’re right!
Happy New Year, y’all!
I’ve decided I like Impact. I do think I received the New Year awake, thanks to what sounded like a dozen Nigerians although it was, strictly speaking, only three of them. Getting out of here in April will be great just in terms of no loudly-banging doors at all hours (plus the added benefits of clean kitchens and nobody doing laundry in the bathtub).
ETA: it’s 7:16, so why does the post say 9:16?
