Up and caffienatin’. YAWN

Time to get purtified for work. Yep. Hi Ho Hi Ho it’s off to work I go.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Happy New Year!!!

Here we are at the start of last night’s festivities. No pictures of us at the end of the night - suffice to say we staggered home at around 3am! Woo and Hoo - we had a lot of fun!!!

I owe, I owe, it’s off to work I go…
Gotta face reality,Swamps.

Believe it or not, we went in to bed about 11:50. I had been knitting, and **FCD **was watching The Blues Brothers for the gazillionth time. He declared he was tired, I was too, so off to bed we went. I’m pretty sure we were asleep in seconds. Almost made it!

So Happy First Day of 2010!!

Taz woke us at 6:15, trying to open the door. He was not to be ignored, so I got up. All the critters, upstairs and down, have been tended to. The dining room carpet has been spot-cleaned (thanks, Scruffy  ) and I’m thinking about getting some caffeine. Or going back to bed. Either way…

**FCD **wants to buy himself some new pullover sweaters for work, so we may venture forth to the maul. I don’t recall the last time I was there - over a year ago, I think. Possibly over 2 years. I know I went to Sears to get him a certain tool for his birthday one November.

I’ve also got laundry to do, and I need to finish the random ends of the kidlet afghan I was making last night. Then I’ll decide what the next kidlet afghan will look like - random stripes, I think. This one was random squares. I think I’ll grab all the little scraps, knit till one is gone, then pick up the next color. It should be random and interesting. Or ugly. Hard to tell…

And a HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010! from me also.

The pork loin roast turned out very tasty, thank you so much for the recipe, Muppet! It’s supposed to turn very chilly and windy here come Saturday, so I guess my crock pot will be getting a good work out: I plan on making hearty soups and stews!

Dotty, very nice pic of you and hubby; glad to hear that you had a good time! I was actually awake when the New Year came in this year (LOL an accomplishment, let me tell ya), and toasted with my version of a mimosa: champagne and orange-peach-mango juice, with a couple of frozen strawberries tossed in. Very tasty! And then later on I had some hoppin’ john (black-eyed peas and brown rice). Old Glory brand on the black-eyed peas, btw, and they are good, believe it or not.

At any rate, a Happy 2010 to all!

Time to shower and go out for some breakfast. I’s hongreeeee!!!

That would’a been 8:16

A little :eek: to start off your 2010:

This is from theAsheville Citizen-Times. I swear I am not making this up.

My NYE was pretty good. I hung out with the guy I met at the coffeeshop on Monday and we played War. Huh. Good God.

Unless you have DST in Spain, and you set it to GMT+2 sometime in the summer (with DST corrections “off”) for some reason (like failure of the OS+Boards combo to recognize DST on their own…?)

Happy New Year, Mumpers!

We’ve just got back to ‘im indoors’ mum’s place after spending the night at his sister’s house. We went down into the town to a couple of pubs but they call last orders at 10pm so after that we walked back up the icy streets to their house and they had a party. I went to bed around 3am, he followed about 45mins later but I think his sister lasted out until around 5.30am. She was looking somewhat the worse for wear later, but that’s about normal for her.

Our plans for the rest of the day are just to chill out here, and probably get an early night as I’m driving us back home tomorrow and hopefully avoiding the fresh snow they’re forecasting. Then on Sunday we’ll be heading to our friend’s place to collect the fuzzbutts and bring them home too.

I can’t believe I have to go back to work on Monday though. Bah!

Off to have Christmas with little brother and his kids…

Happy New Year, once again!

GT

Happy New Year!!!

I went to the hockey game, then went and rang in the New Year at a Greek restaurant till 0200, then I drove some drunks home. I am (obviously) not working today.

BooFae, last call at 10:00? : faints :

Back from breakfast and buying FCD’s laptop. I expect he’ll surface for supper…

I’ve got my first load of laundry in the washer. The dishwasher has been emptied and refilled. I’ve got chickie tits cooking for the buffalo chicken dip. *Someone *got the wrong day for the office potluck, so I’ll be making the dip for us.

At least 3 more loads of laundry, and I should run the vacuum over the carpet. I should also yank out a hunk o’meat so’s I can do a crock pot roast for Sunday when the kids get home.

Did anyone see the blue moon last night? It was overcast here, so no moonlight. Oh well…

Hi guys!

Happy New Year!!!

Dotty, you look lovely in that picture! I hope you had a wonderful time.

We went to First Night and saw the early fireworks at 9 so we were ready to leave by 10:30 because we were hungry. So we hopped on a shuttle bus which we thought would allow us to avoid the steep, icy hill/sidewalk which led up to the parking deck where our car was, about 1 block away. Unfortunately, after about a 15 minute or more bus ride, we realized that the bus didn’t go anywhere near our spot so we ended up getting off the bus in a place that was now about four blocks away. Well, at least we didn’t have to walk up the treacherous hill that we had slid down, right? :stuck_out_tongue:

After that we tried to go to dinner somewhere downtown and they weren’t open so we ended up at TGI Fridays. This was sort of fun because when I used to hang out with Peace Corps Girl on NYE, this is where we’d always end up. There was a free champagne toast at midnight and I drank about 2 sips which was just enough. Considering that we had to drive about 1 hour and 20 minutes back to TVLand, I didn’t want to have any potential issues at all. All in all it was a good time and we crawled into bed around 2.

Oh yeah, and here is a link to the shoes that I got to go with the dress. Of course I bought the black ones. It’s funny I always seem to have a thing for Mary Jane shoes and once again, looking at the name, I see that these are actually considered MJs, too. We’ll see how long I can actually manage to walk in these since I tend to live in tennis shoes.

Mega Cool Shoes, Pie

Happy New Year, everybody!

Christmas is all packed up, and ready to go back in the attic. I’ve still been slacking, though. I watched a lot of The Twilight Zone marathon, and some Criminal Minds episodes, and I’m re-reading the Dark Tower series. I changed into clean jammies, however!

I’m looking for recipes for prime rib. Mr Rebo seems to think I should go low and slow, but everything I’ve read says high and fast - about 1-1/2 hours at 425° for a 5 lb roast. Trouble is, I have two 2-1/2 lb roasts! I think I’ll tie them together, and check their temps from both ends very early.

I just checked my voicemail messages from earlier today while I was napping. My mentor fell twice, the second time on Christmas day and is now in a nursing home. She has two bad knees and at least one bad hip and was living alone in a two story house when she fell. When she leaves the nursing home, she’ll have to go live with relatives of her daughter’s boyfriend because they have a wheelchair accessible home. Thank God they’ve offered to take her in.

I have to tell you, though, I AM SO PISSED. All of this could have been prevented, you see, she’s lived near the poverty line for years and couldn’t afford any f^&*ing healthcare! Lately she’s just been biding her time until she can get Medicare so that she can get her knees replaced.

You know, I don’t care if you’re for or against UHC, but this is just so damn ridiculous!!! There is ABSOLUTELY no reason that this had to happen. We obviously need some sort of change.

I’m just so angry and feel so bad for her. She’s been a real tough cookie and had to deal with lots of shit throughout her life. There’s no reason for her to have to deal with this, too. :frowning:

That doth well and truly suck CutiePie!

I survived New Year’s at work. Only one crazy person called that I am aware of. His problem? No one answers his text messages. Yep. He never gets texts and is convinced sump’n is wrong with his phone. Nope. He got test messages from us. No device issue. People just don’t reply to his texts because he is a LOON!!!111

Everything else was fairly normal. Well, as normal as people who call about their cellphone problems get anyways.

I have collard greens and blackeyed peas cookin’ for tomorrow’s feast. I like to cook ‘em the day before then reheat the day of. To me, they taste better. OYKW put in a request for a peach cobbler for dessert tomorrow. The brat. Just cause it’s his birthday. I reminded him he was gettin’ the ice cream cake he wanted. I said no, but I’ll probably do it anyways. He’ll give me sad puppy dawg eyes if I don’t and dangitall, that works everytime.

I’m sippin’ on a Captain Morgan’s with Diet Coke. MMMMMMMM… I needed that!

Ok off to take care of stuff, I guess.

Later Y’all!

happy new year everyone!

I don’t know what the hell is up with the coding. It won’t let me put it in caps. I give up. You all get the message, I’m sure.

We had a nice time bringing in the new year at our friend’s house. We were up until about 3:00 am. I slept for a couple of hours, then I got up. We all cleaned up and then went out for a brunch buffet at one of the casinos around here. It was pretty decent.

At any rate, we’re home now and my big plans call for relaxing. I am TAHRED.

Laundry is done, folded, and soon to be put away. I didn’t vacuum, but I did get a bunch of other things done.

Oh, and I learned that I shouldn’t use ***HOT ***buffalo sauce in the buffalo chicken dip. Doggone, it burned! On the other hand, ice cream neutralizes it - seriously!

I’ll probably get to bed early, since I had a short night. Here’s hoping I have a short work day tomorrow. It’d be great to get home at lunchtime. I’m not counting on it, tho. I’m taking lunch just in case.

Dunno if I want to knit tonight or just veg. Wish I had a hot tub - it’d be a good night to soak in one.
