An MCU question for fans before we get to Avengers: Doomsday (TV only spoilers)

I’m going to spoil the television show Secret Invasion.

Nick Fury is revealed, if I understand things correctly, to NOT be Nick fury. He was body swapped out for one of those Skrull aliens. And, they suggest it has been this way for awhile.

Was this ever reversed or resolved? I saw the other day that people are expecting a Nick Fury appearance in Avengers: Doomsday.

Uh, does this mean that it isn’t Nick Fury? It’s a Skrull?

I mentioned to my wife the movie called The Marvels. Samuel Jackson was in that one as Fury for at least 45 minutes of screen time. Was, uh, that not him???

It’s terrible twist if it cancels previous appearances. And it’s lame if we all go see Doomsday and Nick Fury isn’t Nick Fury.

So what happened with this bizarre and terrible storyline?

Nick was willingly replaced by a Skrull on Earth for two years while he worked aboard the SABER space station in orbit.

So is he back, then? What movies would have had “fake Nick” in them?

Just the Invasion TV show, I think (and maybe the Fury in the end credits of Endgame). Fury’s absence lasted from just before the snap (I think both he and his Skrull doppelgänger were snapped) until the film Marvels, IIRC.

Some of the political fallout from Secret Invasion should have been referenced by the larger MCU (for example in Captain America: Brave New World) but it seems like the MCU is content to pretend this whole thing never happened.

Smart decision. I for one, will never forgive them for killing Maria Hill.

I heard about that. Yeesh.

Spiderman: Far From Home had Fake Fury in it, if I recall correctly (IIRC, the post credit scene for that movie revealed that fact)
