An MMP of Elopement

You killed the MMP, apparently, snowbunny!

I got three yarn shipments in the mail today – one is an unspun Icelandic wool to re-knit for my SIL. Another is a surprise for Papa Tiger – I got some gorgeous wool to knit him a scarf and hat set for Christmas. I found a great scarf pattern that isn’t too bulky, and he probably wouldn’t want cashmere because it would be too warm. Not to mention the yarn was on half price sale. Man, I could really use about a thousand bucks right now to stock up on sale yarn; it is just amazing how much is out there at insanely good prices! Of course, where I’d put it is another matter entirely.

And the third is to make something for myself – the Salish Coat pattern, only I got the colors Hazelnut and Sky instead of the Hazelnut and Scuba. It’s in the queue right now; I want to have it for our cruise next year, so clearly I have plenty of time. But after seeing it on the front page every time I went to the KnitPicks site for weeks, I finally broke down and got it. I knew I was going to eventually in any case!

Back to my unspun Icelandic wool. It’s really fragile; once it’s knit up it’s nice and strong, but a strong pull can break the yarn since there’s no twist at all to it. It’s very odd, but I suspect it will be very warm. Not to mention beautiful!

'member how I said my kid was sick? Well, now it’s my turn. I started the day with a nasty cough, and proceeded to get a stuffed up head and snufflies and watery eyes. Plus I just plain feel ick.

I’m hoping I can sleep in this weekend. I’ve got a new bottle of coffee liquor, so I’ll be having some toasted almond - medicinal, of course.

Stoopit sick.

I’ll take the 29th if there are no other volunteers, but I’ll gladly relinquish to anyone who wants to do the first post-Christmas MMP.

I need food. Laterz…

I say since Soapy can lounge around in bed at her leisure she should do Monday’s MMP. I mean, she can lounge in bed with a laptop and compose. It’s only fair. Does everyone agree?

Howdy Y’all! I’s home and in my comfy’s. Papa John’s graciously provided dindin for a fee. I foresee some hot tub time in the very near future. It’s cold out and the hot tub is (duh!) warm. Plus, there just happens to be a chilled bottle of champagne. I swear. It just happened to show up in the beerator to get all nicely chilled and an ice bucket miraculously appeared all ready to keep the champagne nicely chilled whilst hot tub time is goin’ on. It’s like a Christmas miracle!

Oh and before anybody compares hot tub loungin’ to Soapy’s lollin’ in bed with cocoa, hot tub loungin’ has not been happenin’ all day. Whereas it appears that Soapy has lolled abed the entire day. Thus she should do the next MMP.

So There! :stuck_out_tongue:

Shelli glad you’re ok. Those straight line winds can be just as bad as tornadoes.

Later Y’all!

Rough night and day. Planned 6 PM - midnight in the ER; I went 6P - 6A instead.

My IV successes went way up, though.

We had 2 psychos, a lady who tried to pull a bad tooth with pliers, lots of people with Teh Sick, a jiu jitsu master who screwed up his knee, and a terminally ill guy with a DNR who was whacked out on Fentanyl.

VWife was way pissed that I stayed so long. SHe still can’t (or won’t) grasp the concept that failure to get the skills done that I needed means I fail the class, and have to start over.

I left the hospital to come home and I stopped to work a one car wreck where the patient was hypoglycemic.

VWife had to go to the doctor’s ofice for labs, and got a flat tahr. I had to go to Suffolk to change it, then buy a new tire because the old one was hist-wa.

My class final starts at 8 AM tomorrow. I have to make 70% to pass, and this is highest anxiety event I’ve had in many years.

Can I start drinking heavily yet?

The work week is over (at least for eastern US & Canada) and we’re only on page 4? What is up with that, people?

eta

by all means, yes.

It’s the holidays, rosie, and a lot of people don’t have as much time to post. (That’s my excuse, anyway.)

FCM, I’ll pencil you in for the 29th. I might find something for this Monday, too. (If someone else volunteers, I’ll just hold it until the 5th.) Oooooh, I think I have an idea.

Sounds like you had some interesting characters in the ER, Bobbio.

Long day. Looooooooooooooooong, boring meeting in the afternoon.

Gotta go figure out what I’m bringing to brunch tomorrow. Need to wrap a present, too.

Back later.

GT

I made 2 punkin pies the other day. Today I finally got a piece of one. It was the best punkin pie I’ve ever made. Turns out evaporated milk is better than evaporated *skim *milk for punkin pie. And punkin pie is medicinal.

I’m still feeling sapped - it’s like I have no energy. I figure one Toasted Almond, and I’ll sleep like a baby.

Anyone looked outside tonight? Full, bright, amazing moon out there. Too bad it’s too cold to go out and enjoy it.

gt - fine to pencil me in. I have no ideas, but I can get the ball rolling, so no biggie.

Hey! Hey! I got out of bed! I even went out to NOL. (of course I actually did get back into bed when I got home… :D).

Wait… did somebody say “hot tub?”

I’ll do Monday if FCM isn’t feeling up to it…

I wasn’t trying to kill the thread earlier, MamaTigs. Honest.

It’s SNOWING!!!

**Soapy **- I volunteered for the 29th - but you can have that if you want. I think **GT **is looking at doing Monday if no one else wants it. I dunno - I’ve lost track.

I think it’s bedtime. ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz

Right, I guess. All this rest and relaxation. It melts my brain…

I woke up late this Friday morning, so I guess that’s why I’m up so late tonight. I’m very glad it’s the weekend, though. Purchased airfare for my son to come home (and return to school) tonight, online, via SW airlines. $229 RT, which isn’t too bad, I think. The flight here is through Chicago, and he has about an hour layover there at Midway. Hope the weather is okay on the 18th! His return, on 1/1/09, is non-stop.

And now that I’ve spent all my money … I have few plans for this weekend! My family is going to get home-made gifts this year, but at least they’ll be made with love. I’m working on a new afghan even now. I hope to have one for my son to take back to school.

Oh yes, I’ve got to try out some of the cookie/candy recipes I gleaned over in Cafe Society–they must be tested before baking/making for the staff holiday party. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend, and hope that Dotty has a great vacation!

Dang Herbs! How much wool ya gotta have to knit an Afghan.

Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. It’s cooooooold! Well, at least for around these parts. 28 degrees Amurrkin outside right now. MOOOOOOM the moon is (ok, was cause it’s daylight now) amazin’ ain’t it! It was hyuuuuge and silvery.

We should go get haircuts today. Both of us are lookin’ a little shabby around the haid. Mayhaps the idea of goin for good Chinese afterwards will motivate us. I shall mention that.

I say it looks like Soapy has promised to get out of bed long enough to do Monday’s MMP gt. :stuck_out_tongue:

Time for more caffiene and some kind of brekkies. Hmmmmm… pancakes and sausages mayhaps?

Good morning! I slept in till after 7, mostly, so yay! Just ate the last of the 'nanner bread for breakfast. It’s fruit - it’s healthy!

My medicinal beverage gave me some weird dreams last night. One involved calling a coworker and asking him to move out of his house so my MIL could stay there. I don’t even know where he lives, but in Dreamland apparently I did. Later in the dream, I was cutting a series of round holes in sheetrock… with a chainsaw. And I found $2 in one of the holes. Then I woke up and got up.

I figure I can handle doing some laundry today, since the machines do the work. Mostly, I plan to take it easy and let my body get un-sick. And I might make some soup with the turkey broth I made last week. Soup would be good.

Happy Saturday!

Dammit, I’ve tried posting pics and can’t get it to work this morning. And I don’t have the patience to keep trying at the moment.

We didn’t get as much snow as they said we might, but we got a good couple of inches, anyway, which is a start. It’s really pretty out there! It finally looks like December.

**FCD **got a woodstove from an ad on Craig’s List. It’s going to be installed in the garage/shop so he doesn’t have to keep using the stinky propane heater.

I’m doing laundry and trying to relax. I just had some medicinal death chicken for lunch. I’m not coughing too much, but my tummy is feeling a bit off. I’m right on the cusp of sick/not sick. It is not fun.

I expect I’ll survive.

**snowbunny **- corgrats on the white stuff. Better thee than me!

Good morning everyone.

So, the arctic blast did not provide as much snow as thought. There are areas norht of us that got some, but the moisture is fizzling out, even as temps continue to drop. We might see some later today and tomorrow, but it’ll be hit or miss. The temps however will be very cold. So, even if we don’t get snow, there’ll be plenty of ice.

Yesterday I went to our office Christmas party. We held it at a casino. After eating and doing the white elephant exchange, I allowed myself twenty bucks for gambling. I won $82.00 bucks within the first two minutes of sitting down at a machine. I pulled that ticket and cashed it out. I inserted my second ten dollar ticket, and didn’t win a thing.

After that, I headed home.

Not much going on here. We’re hoping it’s a nice quiet weekend here.

I admit, I skimmed, but I didn’t retain much.

Hugs, kisses and gropes to all.

65° and overcast here. I took the idjits to the park, and they had a blast as usual. I helped a little boy learn how to use my plastic ball thrower thingie for Lucy so I could sit and visit with people. I’m helpful like that. Ernie got pissed off at a puppy and told him what-for. He’s such a grouch sometimes!

I’m about to go run errands. Tonight we’re going out for good, cheap Chinese. Laundry has been started. Mr Rebo is cleaning out the garage.

My life is so exciting.

Third load of laundry is in the washer. I just picked the boiled-down turkey carcass of its meat - turkey soup for supper. SIL is going to Arlington to hang with his gamer friends - guess we have custody of daughter tonight. I’m thinking we should bake cookies.

**FCD **has cut into the flue - he’s now got to figure out how to run the vent pipes from the stove to the chimney. Tomorrow, he may have a super-toasty garage.

I’m tahred. I haven’t done much, but I’m still tahred. And snuffly. I do not like Teh Sick. But I guess it could be worse - daughter had a really sore throat.

Speaking of daughter, last night we were discussing porn. It started when a TV commercial for a movie cited a reviewer from Playboy. Daughter expressed surprise that Playboy would have movie reviews. I was surprised she’d never seen a Playboy or any skin mag, for that matter. So I told her about Playboy and Penthouse, which I’ve seen, and Hustler, which I’ve just heard about. And I told her Playgirl was silly. Do they even publish that any more?

She did tell me they used to have Porn Night parties - a bunch of them would get together to watch porn and make fun of it. Which led to a discussion of how stupid porn is. And I told her she needed to watch the Skinamax version of Cinderella that we taped eons ago. It’s a musical. It’s hilarious. Even if the sex scenes were cut, it’d be a fun movie. So now I need to find it and lend it to her.

**FCD **heard snippets of the conversation. He was very confused. We had to explain the thread of the talk… It’s fun living here.

Look, poor FCD heard snippets of a conversation wherein his wife and daughter were discussing Pr0n of all things! Of course the poor man was confuzzeled.

No haircut. No good chinese lunch either. Instead, I have made the lasagna rollups for tomorrow. They just need to be baked. Also, I made a cake, a sweet N.O.T. pie and a seven layer sallit. I took a pan of lasagna rollups, some sallit, the pie and some rolls over to some friends’ house. This is the friend who fell off the roof at a local high school (he does maintenance for the school system) and broke both of his legs in October. I called this mornin’ and said I was bringin’ over everything for a nice Sunday lunch tomorrow. He likes the rollups, so, while I was makin’ up a batch, I thought what the hey and also baked the pie and made an extra smaller seven layer sallit. I’m a good friend.

Tonight we’re goin’ to have dinner at some other friends’ house and decorate sugar cookies afterwards. I’ve mentioned this before but the combo of beerverages and sugar cookie mens/wimmens leads to some interestin’ly decorated cookies.
