An MMP of Elopement

Still here. One last IV push, and I go home.

Up and caffeinating - later than usual though. Blargh! At least it’s FIRDAY!!! And that’s a good thing.

It took me two hours to get home last night, most of it spent waiting in the cold rain for buses. The bus that picks us up at work didn’t show up on time, then the next bus didn’t show up either; it was 70 minutes after I got out there that a bus finally showed up. Naturally, that made me late for the connecting bus, hence two hours to get home. Double blargh! So I’m really TGIF today…but now I gotta split because I am running very late. :frowning:

hides her veins from VBob

I have lovely veins. It you’re a sadist, that is.

I forgot to grab the stuff I’d placed in a drawer before leaving the hotel. Took the cab, got to work, and then thought “ok, where are my car keys? OH SHIT!” but it was before leaving the car, so I just made the cabbie happy, instead of having to call a different cab and freezing my ass while it came. I leave my car parked at work for the whole week, when we’re working in Spain: parking here is nigh impossible after 8am, parking downtown needs direct intervention from a battery of saints, so better not move the car if you can help it.

Hope you’re out of the ER by now, Bobbio.

Yay for Firday!!! ::waves at tarra::

Off to work.

Forgot to add Dotty to Jan 19th, but will add after work, and will add Rebo for the 22nd. Anyone want Monday??? (I can always come up with something, if necessary…)

The hampsters ate my post.

Hi y’all.

I’m in bed watching my favorite episode of my favorite show while it rains.

Bliss.

Happy Firday!

Apparently Soapy is having the happiest Firday of all. My jealousy knows no bounds. I want to curl up in bed and watch TV all day too, dagnabbit.

The biscotti turned out very yummy. Recipe shall be posted sometime in the next day or two, once I’ve had time to take a glamour shot of the prettiest ones. Just one more batch of cookies to go (sweet and salty peanut chocolate-chip) and my Christmas baking will be finito… yay!

tarra, that sounds like an unpleasant commute. Hopefully today’s will be shorter than usual to make up for it.

It’s raining. And cold. I wanna go back to bed. I wanna go back to bed a lot it seems. I am not a morning person at all. At least it’s FRIDAY!

Oh, I was in Tarjay the other day, and they had bikinis. Bikinis. In December. When it’s 30 degrees outside. Bikinis right next to the snowman sweaters. Ugh. Maybe there are more people planning on joining the Polar Bear club around here than I know of… all perfectly shaped, of course, to fit into a size 7 or less bikini.

Hawkeyeop’s brother likes teaching furriners. After he graduated college, he signed up to teach in Japan for two years. Then he came home to get his Masters, and tried teaching in the U.S. for awhile, but hated it. He says the kids here are disrespectful, awful brats or somesuch. Now he’s in Seoul teaching ESL. I think he has middle schoolers too.

I had cocoa too.

Blurgh. Sore throat in full swing today. Yuck. Gonna go home early and worry about time-off issues later. (I have the time off, but we were supposed to turn in the form for any time off we wanted to take for the rest of the year by yesterday. Manager says it’ll be ok and we’ll work something out somehow. I don’t really care right now; I just wanna go home.)

I made Haze’s lesbian chocolate gingerbread last night. Other than probably being germ-filled, it’s really good! I brought 1/2 of it in to work. It’s the last day for our CMO, who always appreciated my baking, so I wanted to bring in something.

I wish I could take the 22nd, since I’ll actually be off work and ‘cause it’s my 30th birthday, but I’ll be at my parents’ and they have dial-up and a particularly bad connection at that so I don’t think I’ll be able to get online.

Teh Sick is surrounding me! I feel like I am prisoner in a TB ward. I am DOOMED! It’s a nasty one, too. Real mucousy coughing! Gag!! I want to pass out the Robitussin to all.

This afternoon is the agency meeting where we’ll supposedly get our [del]peanuts[/del] extra special bonus this year…the one that’s supposed to be extra special because we opted not to have an holiday party. We shall see. At least I am employed… currently… for the time being…

There’s a laptop computer size box under the Xmas tree. Completely unexpected especially since it is usually jewelry. I can’t tell where it’s from either.

Okay, I am off to tell the world about some great deals for weddings in Cozumel.

Tupug

mmmmousie, wouldn’t it be funny if Hawkeyeop’s brother was one of Haze’s co-workers?!

Yes, Muppet, that was the commute from hell last night, but at least we didn’t have snow this morning as had been threatened, :dubious: There are only three people in my office today - well, four, counting another staff member who is in the process of moving to another office. Most of them work from home on Fridays. So it’s fairly quiet around here and to be honest, I’m surfing the 'net and listening to Christmas carols!

Wish I had some of that gingerbread, taxi!

That sounds like the perfect morning, Soapy. I might have done the same, except the Idiots needed to go out, then they needed their meds, then they needed their breakfast, then they needed to go out again…and by that point it’s just not worth it to go back to bed unless I’m so sick I can barely prop myself up. Which, fortunately, I’m not – I’m definitely feeling better today.

Can I pack myself in your suitcase and come along on your vacation, Dotty? I’ll even offer free babysitting!

I guess that’s good news on the job front for now, Shadow. :dubious: Fingers crossed for you!

I sure hope I wasn’t the one passing out Teh Sick to everybody :frowning: But if I was, take heart, it doesn’t last long. At least my particular variety of it; yours may choose to differ, obviously.

Off to do something or other. I haven’t decided what yet.

It would be very funny, but Seoul is a huuuge place. I can’t imagine that they teach in the same school.

Count me in as envious of the gingerbread. Please send some through the CD drive, Taxi!

grumble

So is it 5pm yet? Huh huh huh?

Our office is awful quiet today too, tarra. Only, we don’t even have snow as an excuse… I think people are just fed up of this stupid project and decided to take a long weekend instead. Wish someone had sent me the memo… so I could be lounging in bed with hot chocolate too.

sniff

Oh, I forgot to mention: snowbunny called me this morning whilst getting her snow tires put on her car, to inform me that they’re supposed to be getting that Big Dump of snow tonight and tomorrow. So everybody keep thinking good snow thoughts for her – especially now that she’s got those evil studded tires on her little car so she won’t slide off the road!

I’m driving by to say hi and bye until next week. I never made the treats for work, as most of the town was closed down due to power outage. I’m in Northeast Mississippi (or NeMiss as we refer to it) and we had straightline winds that did a lot of damage yesterday. My neighbors house has two trees through the living room and garage, I passed someone’s roof across the road, a lot of houses were missing parts of roofs, or had a tree through them or the siding was ripped off. The roof of the Dollar General flipped open like a tin can and either blew onto the Piggly Wiggly roof and dropped the AC unit through it. It sucked pretty bad. And while people were trying to save their possessions from the wreckage there was the coldest freezing rain and wind I’ve ever been in. BUT - no one was hurt, I ended up staying with my grandparents and they got the power back on today!

So I am cleaning clothes and getting ready to book ass to Birmingham for a little fun.

See ya next week!

Have fun, Shelli! That sounds like a horrible storm! I’m glad you made it through ok.

“Book ass.” That made me smile! I remember when we used to “book.” Language sure does change, doesn’t it?

:: thinking snow for Bunny ::

{{{Hugs for the sickos}}} (I’m actually feeling better today!)

Drive by…

Workin’ on stuff, busy day at work, need moar caffeeeeeeeine. Or more sleep. But caffeine is quicker.

kthxbye!

Yep, it’s taken a while, but if you look at the radar and see that mess coming in over Oregon and Washington, we’re next in line for it. Bring it on, I say. Bring it on!
