Usually, to me, the epic assholes are the relatively small group of posters who do at least one of a handful of (IMO) assholish behaviors:

[li]Stick to their guns about some factually disproven belief.[/li][li]Make sweeping inflammatory generalized statements of “truth” that are far from the actual truth, and aren’t anything other than their opinion. Or… they stick to their ideological guns way past the point when they’ve been shown to be mistaken about their own beliefs.[/li][li]Act extremely patronizing about issues that aren’t nearly so cut and dried as they’d like to believe.[/li][li] Poison the well early and often in threads about social issues.[/li][li] Troll one side or the other intentionally about political/social issues.[/li][/ol]
There are a handful of posters who routinely do this… I’m not naming names, but the majority tend to be on the hyper-liberal side of things, but a couple are on the conservative side. In a lot of ways, I dread their entry into threads about topics I’m interested in, because the threads inevitably devolve into a fight instead of a discussion.
Lie? Did the mod actually use the word “lie”? Or was it a request to tone your enmity down a little?
I hate these popularity threads.
I kind of miss him. Once I decided to ignore everything he said he kind of grew on me.

He just said he refuses to lie, so of course the mod said “you must either remain silent or lie,” in those exact words.
Well, I presume the “lie” is some subjective truth such as “religion is evil and brainwashing for the masses.”

I counted 3 lies in that post. The last sentence might be correct-- I really wouldn’t know.
- At least 2 mods have been involved.
- No one told you you had to lie.
- You lie through your teeth on a regular basis.

Whatever, DT knocked off most of his bullshit. He’s in the Hall of Fame, though. Guy used to have a bi-monthly Pit thread, which he invariably ignored, like, y’know, an asshole.
