analog date story (and request for advice)

Oh, hell yes. This girl is really, really cute. I melt a little bit every time she smiles at me.

So, what movie are you seeing?

My personal rule about the lower end is not to lech any woman younger than my oldest daughter. That would almost make you too young (if you were a woman and all.)

We agreed it would be up to her. Hopefully she picks something I’ve seen already so that I can devote all my energies to working up the courage to hold her hand. (I’m kidding.)

Actually, it’s not uncommon among romance novel plots for the girl to be in her mid-twenties and the sigh-guy to be in his mid-thirties. The point is that women are the primary audience for these romances, and they love the idea of this age pairing. You’re probably the perfect age for her – young enough to still be a stud, old enough to have some wisdom and stability.

I’d ask for Resident Evil: Extinction. It’s a movie that will require no attention on your part and she’ll want to be close so you can save her from the zombies.

Sometimes that works.

My ex’s step daughters are two weeks older than her. Then again, sometimes it doesn’t work. I hear that that marriage sucked.

My husband and I have an age difference of 11 years. I married him when I was 19, and he was 30.

We’ll be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary next month.

It’s not about the ages (or the age difference), it’s about the people involved, just as others have said.

Actually, that is pretty good advice too, at least until it’s been 6 months since the last partner, testing was done, and other birth control is used.

Thanks, DWD. Your story and a couple of the other ones here are allaying my concerns.

I’ve always wondered–how is that a better condition? I know, I get that Dan is saying not to mistreat younger people. But when you leave a campsite or a younger person like that, aren’t you basically leaving them in the same condition you found them in?

I see what you’re saying.

But in real life, it would be nice if you’ve both grown a little from the experience.

And I don’t see what age has to do with it. Older people should get that kind of respect too. And not just romantic attachments, but all of the people whose lives you influence.

In theory, anyway.

The stuff on the end is just sort of an addendum, I suppose. I’ve always took it to mean what **tdn **suggests - both of you have enjoyed yourself and learned a little, and you’ve left a little something for the next person, i.e., experience. That’s probably the “better” bit.

I copied it direct from his website, so I know it’s the real thing.

No, no. This is the classic case of someone bragging without wanting to seem like he’s bragging, so he asks it like a question instead of just coming out and saying “I met this really, really hot chick, and it turns out she’s 23! That’s 11 years younger than me! Ha, ha, ha, ha! Losers!”

OK, seriously Ben. Congrats!

My wife is 11 1/2 years younger than I am, but since I’m immature for my age, it works out fine.

And I swear not to read and reply to them, but awwwwwww. How cute.

Even if that’s not how it was meant, it seems like good advice.

I don’t camp, but I go to the beach. When I do, I always produce cigarette butts. Not only do I pick them up and dispose of them properly, I try to look around for a few that someone else left behind, and dispose of them too. Hey, this is my environment, I have an interest in making it a bit better.

I make it a point not to leave women the way I found them…at least I’ve never found a woman bent like a prezel, sore and hungover.

I used to believe in the thinking, “Marry an older man, they’re more mature.” But then I realized, they don’t mature: get a young one.

What you and tdn makes sense.

Though I have to say, the way An Arky leaves his women intrigues me.

sigh Busted.

No Delta Omegas on your campus either, then, I guess?
