Yes, PTO stands for Paid Time Off.
Ah, thanks. Two million miles is very impressive. I’ve never caused an accident butt people all too frequently feel compelled to slam into me.
Thanks. Yes, it is impressive when you consider how many cars just do stupid things around semis; like not leaving enough room, cutting them off, etc. Factor in snow and ice, and the likelihood of incidents greatly increases.
He would be well beyond that if he were still an over the road driver, but he decided to drive locally for his company around 19 years ago. It’s a little tougher to rack the miles up when you’re only driving in the local area.
When I see PTO, the first thing that pops to mind is Parents and Teachers Organization.
Thanks to congo’s car check and to hybernation driving my brain to extra weirdness, I now have a picture of cars sitting at half-desks, chewing on #2 pencils while doing their tests and sweating the answers because if they fail they won’t be allowed to leave.
Had an interview today. Job sounds good and one of the interviewers turned out to be my long lost non-biological cousin: his wife is from a town 12km from where I grew up, he and I followed similar twisted career tracks, turns out we have two ex-factories in common. I think he’d like to hire me just so we can compare war stories of Life Under The Red Queen*.
Have another one on Thursday.
Madriz, capital of deSpáins, is darn cold and too rainy for my taste atm :Pout:
- when I was there, she’d start up the morning by verbally assaulting the poor warehouse manager at the top of her lungs and for things which were clearly not his fault, invariably ending with “I’m going to pull your head off!”
So far today I have done a little bit of homework and a little bit of silverware work. The likelihood of me finishing up the reading portion of my homework by tomorrow (and remembering it all) is… well, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Also I had an errand at a downtown business and after driving down there I discovered that they were closed for the holiday! Tomorrow is another day. :dubious:
Blurf.
I’ve been up since 7:30 but I have yet to conclude de-blurfing since I had to spend my one day off that I didn’t have anything else to do playing taxi for everyone.
I say again, BLURF.
I am rather grouchy this afternoon and I took it out on my mother who did not deserve it at all. Now I feel bad. I’ll apologize when she gets here.
Boo.
I’m about to head out to pick up my neighbors I take to steak night and head over to the church house. OYKW will be joinin’ us there shortly. We have set up and prep duties tonight. Them N.O.T. ain’t gonna bake themselves ya know! I say “we” have set up and prep duties. That really means “me” but when ya can get free labor I say go for it. Or should that be for it go?
Laterz!
Afternoon!
Man I skimmed through last weeks MMP between new houses, sickies, people leaving for cruises, birthdays and vehicles it was a busy week!
We went to visit mr ems mom in the residential home this weekend. She is getting weaker by the day. The cancer is proving to much for her to fight anymore. The oncologist last week gave her a month at most. mr ems is understandably devastated and his Dad is not handling things well either and is refusing to go see his mom in the care home and his sister is buckling under the strain so things are going to be rough for the next little while. All I can do his hold his hand which isn’t enough.
Work is irksome as always and I get more bitter and frustrated by the day but it pales in comparison to what mr ems and his family are going through so we will just carry on.
Enjoy your steaks swampy
2 million miles is a long ass ways taters!
Yay for Jeeps passing inspection!
I am very sorry to read about your mother in law’s prognosis, ems. I am thinking good thoughts for all of you.

Rosie, I just finished sweeping the carpets and mopping the hardwoods. Does that add to my marriageability?
:goose:

Yes. Yes, it does.
{{{{{{mmmmms & co.}}}}}
I’m trying to post something on LiveJournal and it keeps timing out. I have to have this post up by 9 tonight and I’m getting worried. And annoyed. Stoopid internets.
{{{{ems}}}} I’m sorry you’re dealing with this right now.
Jeep has shiny new inspection sticker and shiny new parking permit sticker (and yes, I did park illegally while getting my permit). I picked up most of my books while I was there to save me from having to walk all the damn way to the co-op again tomorrow. I got the books for all but my ancient greece class (in other words, 3 classes) and it cost me $515. My ancient greece class has 10 books!!:eek: Luckily it seems that only one is around $50 and the other 9 are in the $1.5 to $10 range. Holy hell that’s a lot of books. I’m only gonna buy them when and if I need them.
I’m cold and tired and hungry but it’s too early to sleep and I’m too lazy to make food.
{{{MMMMMMM’s and Mr. MMMMMMM’s}}} My thoughts and prayers are with y’all. Been there done that with my father and it ain’t easy. May Mama Mr. MMMMMM’s find peace and comfort. Same for Daddy Mr. MMMMMM’s. This is just tough all the way around. Also, may sis Mr. MMMMMM’s find peace and comfort as well. Same for you MMMMMM’s.
Men’s night was fun as always. Good food. Good steak. Good beer. [del]Much bs[/del] Good commaderie. Always a good time. Of course, as usual, all the major problems of the world were solved. We really should formally record all our wisdom and submit it to the UN one of these days.
Lots of hugs and prayers for mmmmmmmm and mr. mmmmmmmmmmmm.
I need hugs and prayers too. Faraway Best Friend called a little bit ago to tell me that her brother died. It was very unexpected. He was about 48. I’m in shock because he was such a lively person.

I’m burning candles for good luck, serenity and strength. It’s totally silly but it’s cozy, like a fireplace somewhat. I’ll think of you and yours ems, when I tend them.
Even with a sprained wrist, I managed to make a pot of 15 bean soup. It’s good, but would have been better with sausage. Why no sausage? Because it fell out in my trunk and wasn’t noticed till the next day. Dammit. I can add some later, before freezing.
My animals are being adorable tonight. Sweet Pea is gnawing on a ‘pig stick,’ Violet is a meatloaf ketteh on the footrest and Tansy is on the electric blanket next to me; so zoned out she’s snoring little kitty snores. Never before heard-- she’s my skitty kitty; always running around.
So a better day, but still in limbo and trying not to freak out. I can do it right? Right!
Hugs and smooches to all-- you keep me sorta sane with your insanity!
Haven’t checked in in a while. Depression is better. I think I may be cycling according to my monthly hormones, a horrid thought.
In the meantime, while I’m feeling better, I’m trying to get some things done. It’s kind of like a squirrel frantically cramming his face with acorns, keeping an eye out for the first snow storm. Been reading Flylady’s site and starting to use some of her stuff. Her method for cleaning sinks really works. Did major kitchen cleaning and organizing, got my bathroom, nibbling at my bedroom.
Tutoring is good. It’s lovely to spend one-on-one time with the different kids and bully or trick them into learning stuff. So much easier than when I’m in charge of 38 kids at a time. I definitely need to pick up more kids in order to make enough money at this.
OTOH, I may need to murder my father, as he’s watching (I think) a Republican debate or rally or something, with the sound turned all the way up.
No jury in the world would convict me.
