...and how many of the IMDB Bottom 100 movies have you seen?

I’ve seen 20. Some, like the Power Rangers and Mortal Kombat and 3 Ninjas because my boys wanted to see them, but most because I enjoy cheesy movies every now and then.

Two, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians and Surf Nazis Must Die! which is actually kinda good in a campy bad kinda way.

On a second reading I have to think the list is suspect. Any list of really bad movies that doesn’t include Zardoz (Sean Connery wears a red diaper and the worst hair piece ever made) is lacking.

Seconded!

Other notable absences:

  • Plan 9 from Outer Space
  • Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter
  1. 2.4 Baby Geniuses (1999) 3,405
  2. 2.8 Police Academy 6: City Under Siege (1989) 4,625
  3. 2.8 Smokey and the Bandit Part 3 (1983) 1,541
  4. 2.9 Police Academy 5: Assignment: Miami Beach (1988) 5,391

I should have given up on Police Academy after the third one. I thought Baby Geniuses was okay, and at the time I thought Smokey and the Bandit was hilarious (I was in my young teens, what can I say?) I had wanted to see some of the others on the list, but now I am glad that I didn’t.

Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter is awesome and entertaining under its own merits, and more importantly it’s exactly the film the filmmakers intended to make.

I’ve seen bits and pieces (or MST3K versions) of six of the films on the list, but none of them in their original, commentary-free form.

None.

Am I the only one who’s seen Cool as Ice?

Anyone?

(At least it’s the only one I’ve seen, and it was in high school, and my friends and I rented it for kitch value, and we laughed through it)

Zero.

Dodged a bullet on one, though – I saw “Crossroads” in the list and at first I thought it was the one with Ralph Macchio, which I *have * seen.

I guess I must be living right. (Or maybe not? :dubious: )

You know, you’re right. I take it back. When the gang watched this low-budget-and-revelling-in-it flick there was a newcomer amongst us who - get this - just doesn’t think MST3K is funny. He was almost literally screaming to shut this movie off. I think this tainted my enjoyment.

On reflection, if someone granted me the chance to not have watched it I would vehemently resist (would that I could for Master of Disguse, Battlefield Earth, and Matrix Revolutions)!

Bad on purpose is hard to do well.

Oop. I’d forgotten I’d seen Baby Geniuses. So, 38 for me, with another two as “may have seen them, can’t really recall.”

  1. Five of them were MST3K, two of them were Police Academy movies, one was Battlefield Earth.

Where the hell is Highlander 2? It’s worse than either Bolero or Gymkata!

And yes, I’ve seen Gymkata.

But the worst movie ever is still Armageddeon. Michael Bay delendia est.

Had the same dread myself until I noticed the date. When I first saw it (Macchio’s) in the 80’s (?) I thought it was good, but suspect that now I’d be hard pressed to rate it high enough to be too far from the Bottom 100. Who was it faking Macchio’s playing? I want to say Ry Cooder but that doesn’t feel right.

There were a couple of others with titles that I did see, but the date let me off the hook.

Yeah, where’s the list of Bottom 100 Movie Watchers?

Only one. Tarzan the Ape Man. But it was in the theater!

Just one, thank Og. Captain America.

‘Manos’ the Hands of Fate
Mitchell
Jaws: The Revenge
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
Teen Wolf Too
Police Academy 6: City Under Siege
Shanghai Surprise
Captain America
Gymkata
Mannequin: On the Move
Police Academy 5: Assignment: Miami Beach
Spice World
Tarzan, the Ape Man
Street Fighter
Surf Nazis Must Die
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie
Rhinestone

Nine, including MST3K episodes that I’ve seen in their entirety. Probably another dozen if you count movies of which I’ve only seen 20 minutes, and all of that dozen if from MST3K. I think MST3K films, bad as many of them are, are unfairly represented on the list because unlike many bad movies that fade into obscurity, lots of people have seen them. I mean, even without Mike & 'bots I would have gotten more enjoyment out of Space Mutiny than I did from Raising Cain. shudder

There is no way It’s Pat belongs on the list. It was no Citizen Kane, but it was a perfectly serviceable stupid comedy about two androgyns finding love.

I haven’t seen Bolero, but surely Tarzan has to fall into the same category!

Although I may not have been all that young when I saw it…
