And the Oscar Goes To....MMP

Ohhhh, rigs, I really liked that movie, although it’s been ages since I saw it. Guess I’ll have to go see if the library has it.

I’m sitting here re-heating my fish and chips from lunch (there’s still a portion of fries left after this one). I think I’ll have some papaya for dessert, too. And I’m watching Serendipity, which I haven’t watched in a while. (OK, so the fish and chips aren’t actually right here; they’re in the toaster oven getting toasty.)

Need to get my St. Paddy’s Day stuff put together and sent tomorrow a.m. I’m starting to make my list of stuff to do this weekend… There was a thread about stickies the other day and someone recommended Protopage. It creates a homepage for you with stickies and places for links and stuff. It’s really handy, I think. Means I can get to the same stuff at either computer.

Brief stop-in… well, actually I’m sitting here fidgeting until I get a call to go to the subway station.

Savannah, I’m glad she went easily.

Drae and rose, nice pic!

A cat wandered into work today! Attacks Husband says he saw it out last night on his way to work, and he happened to be stopping in when they were all cooing over it. It’s a housecat- clean, no collar, neutered, no microchip, very friendly- he got it checked out at a vet and it’s in his basement right now. He’s put signs up with a photo and his number. It’s about a year old, grey, with longish fur. I haven’t been introduced, but I’m sure someone at work will adopt it.

I missed it! A cute cat drops in and I missed it!

savannah, I’m sorry to hear about your husband’s grandmother. I wish peace to her and to your family
drae and anyrose you look smashing! I’m jealous. Someday I’ll have a doper-get-together too. just you wait! I won’t look nearly as nice, though.

lissa, how exciting! I love it when you find animals in places you wouldn’t expect to find them.

FCM, I’m jealous! I cooed over the cat on the website and then cooed at my own cat because I luff my pussycat. I’ll have to check back later as they post pictures as well.

The cast list was posted this afternoon!

my best friend did not get in. I’m actually glad, as I cannot stand her when we’re together too much.

The girl I thought would be Charity is in the chorus.

The stage manager is another one of my friends, whom I love dearly, but who is terrible when she gets a bit of power.

I got in.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I will be playing Charity Hope Valentine. I am the star of this year’s spring musical. I didn’t think I could do it either.

Dot!!! Congratulations!!!

Thanks all for the good thoughts for my dad. He’s actually very involved in his church, and has buddies that he goes to dinner with. I think we’ll start a new tradition with him coming over for dinner once a week or something. Homecooking like mama used to make! Bobby (his friend) will probably be about 1-1/2 hours from us. So he should be able to get up there every so often.

I took my 2nd shot around 9:00 and feel no ill effects. Yay!

I’m trying to wait up for Tom - he is working 2nd shift to replace a guy who’s sick. I’m getting pretty sleepy, though. He has to work late on Monday, too. :frowning: I miss him.

If We Could See You Now
This Little Gang of Dopes
You’re starring in your show
And there’ll be no more mopes
You’ve got a chance to show the world how you shine
And it’s a role I used to wish that were mine
All I can say is WOW
You’re gonna knock 'em dead
We all so very proud
Just don’t get swollen head
Have a great show, holy cow
I mean Break A Le-eg
If The Dopes could see you now

That’s what waking from a sound sleep at 2am will do for you

Go Dottie!!!

Congratulations, Surrender!

That puppy picture? Squeeeee!

Today, it: snowed, rained, was warm and sunny, hailed, rained, freezing rain, snow, then thunder and lightning.

It’s been a week. Oh, my, but a week.

I hope everyone has a good Saturday. Which is the best day of the week.

They’ll never believe it, Holy cow!
If your friends could see you now…

Yay! for you!

Off to work…

      YAY DOROTHY!!!

I forgot to comment on the picture of Drae and rosie. I think it’s a great picture. You look like you really enjoyed meeting each other!

I’m up, sort of. Woke up about 3 times. Not sure what time it was when I woke up the last time…maybe 5 or so. I’m thinking I’ll be taking a nap later today.

I’m going to have leftover pizza for breakfast. (Last half of Wednesday night’s dinner…)

And then I think I’ll get out into the garden cuz it’s not raining yet.

Good morning all.

I am about to do a SCTV and hurl my other computer out of a window. We still can’t fix what the hell ever is wrong with it.

I’m not willing to take on another bill to buy another computer; and the one guy we know of that fixes computers charges an arm, leg, and the rest of your body for repair or even just to look at it. There used to be a guy around here that was absolutely awesome, but he closed up shop.

We are fixin’ to head out to breakfast. My daughter went to a friend’s house to stay the night and my son had someone stay here. So, the hubby, son and son’s friend are going to breakfast. Nothing fancy, just OCB (Old Country Buffet).

It’s cold out. It was even snowing just a little south of here. I’m soooooo ready for spring.

Well, need to log off and dink with the other computer some more.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Bummer about the computer, Taters. Hope you can make it healthy again. Have you tried posting a call for help in GQ? Maybe someone there would have an idea of what else you could do.

Well, I made it to church to cut down grasses and prune a couple of shrubs. It started to sprinkle just as I was finishing, so it’s a good thing I decided to do that before going to buy St. Patrick’s Day doo-dads. Gotta put my cards together still.

Not very hungry for lunch yet (the pizza was quite filling), but I bought some cheddar-chive rolls while I was out getting doo-dads and am thinking about what type of sandwich to have in one of them. Maybe I’ll get some turkey and bacon and have a kind of club sandwich later.

I was at North Market which is right next to the doo-dad store and was really the only place to park as the Auto Show started yesterday so every parking meter in the downtown area was taken. So I bought stuff from the bakery and the produce place so that I could get my parking ticket stamped. Also bought some parsnips because they looked fresh and were reasonably priced. Ohh…and they had duck fat at the organic butcher’s there - made me think of Lissla. Maybe I’ll buy some next time. The thought of potatoes with duck fat is really quite attractive.

Well, I need to get to the library and then on to working on the cards…

Good morning!

Not much happenin’ here. I’m about to go out and get my hair cut. I made French Toast for Tom for breakfast, but I was good and just had scrambled eggs. He’s at Home Depot (who didn’t know that?) buying paint brushes to continue painting the house.

Not feeling too crappy! I’m pretty lucky, considering how other people respond to interferon.

We won tickets to the rodeo! $21 each, not too shabby. The Houston Rodeo is a big deal 'round these here parts. Brooks & Dunn are playing, and it will be the finals of the two-week rodeo event. Next Saturday!

Good Saturday morning. I am going through Grandma’s stuff that we were keeping in the back bedroom, for it’s all going to Uncle Dumbass. Good grief, my husband’s late mother and grandmother kept everything. Boxes and boxes of cards from every occasion from years and years, church bulletins, and newspaper clippings galore. But there are family pictures and childhood mementos that I’m putting aside for my husband. He was quite the geek in Grade Six, judging by his pictures!

It’s sunny, but there’s a chill in the air out there.

Despite another stress-induced trip to McDonald’s on my lunch hour yesterday, I am at a new low weight today. Good. Probably because I didn’t eat any dinner last night, and we went to bed at one AM or so.

I just had the most delicious sandwich for brunch: 12 grain bread, pastrami, cheese, and for the vegetable component, I just stuffed some pre-washed ready-to-eat salad greens in there. It worked.

I had a great dream about being at a small, acoustic Bruce Springsteen concert last night. Man, it was a good night in Dreamland. Thanks, Bruce.

Went to Tar-jay to get cardstock and a hole punch. Came back with a new set of sheets (I was unable to help myself, the pink bamboo sheets are the exact shade of dusty rose that I’ve been looking for for about 15 years; also they’re nice and soft.) Oh and some socks, too. And HP4, since they had it on sale for $15.99, which I figure will be the low price for quite a while.

So now I have an even more ridiculous number of sheet sets. Also drooled over some of the curtains. I’m thinking they might work in the living room. Guess I should take one of the pillowcases in to the store and see if they actually match.

Used to be I couldn’t find sheets I liked there, but they’ve gotten nicer and nicer. I should probably never enter Target unescorted.

Now back to the St. Paddy’s stuff…

GT

I love it when I have dreams like that, Savannah. I have participated in episodes of some of my favourite tv shows that way.

Happy Saturday everyone. Dot, that is totally sweet! Awesome. And anyrose, excellent song adaptation!

I just checked the bus schedules; I’m going into Manhattan tonight for a concert at the Knitting Factory Old Office, one of the band members is a friend of mine. Should be a lot of fun. Anyway, I should let you all know that in honor of the 14th being Pi Day, next week will be Pastry of the day. Or more accurately, Baked Good of the Day. So take this weeked to eclair your head before my pun oven really gets warmed up.

thanks Spats
Taters - have you called GeekSquad? I’ve heard good things and the prices don’t look horrible. Plus they drive the cutest cars.

btw - I know it’s waaaaaaaaay early - but I call dibs on Monday April 3rd. I’ll tell you all about competition.

Today is officially Beg Local Businesses for Money Day, because I am the sole organizer of the National Day of Silence on our campus. I’m busy enveloping thousands of letters (and when I say thousands, I mean tens… there are only 10k people in this city).

Other than that, there’s been nothing for the last few days. NOTHING.

My life is so busy, yet boring!

As it should be, you being a poor college student and all. Shouldn’t you be studying?

Back from library. And now I’m going back to the St. Paddy’s Day stuff. Gotta address envelopes.

rifty, have fun at the concert. We’ll all look forward to the pastries. One of my best friends has a birthday on Pi Day. She particularly favors anything containing ice cream, should you need inspiration. Which, judging by past contributions, you won’t.

Oh, and I finally decided what kind of sandwich to have. Hard boiled egg with melted cheese. With mayo and mustard. Usually don’t add lettuce, but I’m going to this time…

GT

Dot - many many cograts! I am decidedly impressed - go you!!

Lessee, today - class this morning - I threw 4 new pieces and trimmed the 2 from last week - that’s 11 so far. I even tried the white clay today - it’s smoother than the red that I’ve been using so far. Next week, I’m going to wedge both kinds together and see what I get. FCD played with a lot of clay and didn’t make anything. I fear he can’t let go of his inner machinist.

After class, we had lunch, then went to the cat show. It was a small show, and I’ve decided for the most part, cat shows are boring. It was neat to walk around and look at all the different kinds of kitties, and we ran into Steph, who gave us our cat. We watched some judging - meh. And we talked to a woman who breeds Cornish Rex - they’re way cool looking. They’re also way expensive.

Once we got home, I went out and trimmed some forsythia and raked a bit. Tomorrow, I’m going to clear the front lawn. FCD made me a wedging board so I can play with clay at home. The critters are fed. The house is still open - it got into the 70s here today. I love that we can air out the house!!

I should probably toss a load of clothes into the washer. And clean out the fridge - I think there’s some 2-week-old pizza in there. ick. Mostly, I need to chill - next week promises to be insane.
