So between two weeks out of town for work and the two weeks prior to that sick and then it was month end which is always crazy and then I got sick AGAIN and I still am sick. The snot is very attractive as is the hacking up a lung every morning. I sounded like a pubescent boy on Saturday with the squeeks but now I apparently sound husky and sexy not really sure they would think that if they saw me.
Anyways I kinda skimmed last weeks MMP and I only saw George Clooney last night at the Oscars mmmmm George. Yummy! Other than that nothing really going on.

SOMEBODY deleted one of my documents from one of the shared drives I post to. I don’t know how they managed to do that, since I’m the only one of maybe five people who have administrative rights there. Furthermore, the other four didn’t delete the document. It’s really Monday.
I forgot that the Oscars were on last night! I caught the last two awards, but my cable was messing up, and the only way I knew that Brokeback Mountain didn’t win, is that Ang Lee wasn’t on stage!

Ok, so I go to a meeting in Americus (Home of Habitat for Humanity). That’s good. Then I go to Vienna (home to nothing in particular but we have an office there). They have not followed through on any recommendations to make the new office space more accessible. That’d bad. Make the bear mad bad. Make the bear have to write up a mean memo detailing what must be done and by when it will done or heads will roll bad. Then I come back to my office. I have a phone call informing me that I may or may not be going to Tucson but who knows. Well, I need to know because if I’m not then I can make plans to do other stuff, but I can’t do that until I know. GRRRRRRR… mad bear! :mad:
Just got home fom the safari to Indiannoplace. The trip (well, the 1500 miles of driving part of it) was boring and uneventful, the way it should be. It was good to see the Rugrat, now that he got himself all growed up…

I hate this not knowing cause I don’t wanna get stuff ready to pack just to have to put it all back. See, normally, tonight I would be deciding what to take and putting it out to get all packed tomorrow night. What? These decisions are important. I can’t pack just anything after all.

That’s all I can manage at the moment. We made a trash run after I got home from work today - all garbage and recyclables have been properly disposed of. I’m inventing some kind of chicken and rice and veggie thing for dinner - I’ll start cutting up the chicken as soon as I post this. The rotisserie london broil yesterday was to die for! No leftovers. And peach cobbler for dessert - our local little grocery chain has a wunnerful bakery.
I agree with “Is it Friday yet??” This week is too long already. And tomorrow is mammogram day - woohoo…

Am back from Doc in the Box. I have: otitis, laryngitis, and sinusitis. I cannot work tomorrow. I am big gun antibiotics. Called in. Manager waaaaay less than sympathetic-she says now that I cannot take my “vacation” (end of March) because I won’t have enough PTO. I asked that she not pay for the two days I’ll be off sick. She said she would have to get back to me and clear that through HR.
:mad: <—febrile, upset Rigs. Do you know how much I have done for this woman? I have worked extra, done paperwork for her, have made her job easier in so many ways. I’m going on my “vacation”–yes, it IS a vacation, but is also a memorial service–we are interring my sister’s ashes in Paris. I am so angry, I can’t even see straight. The tix are bought–$5000. Like I’m not going to go.

aww eleanorigby that really REALLY sucks. I’m not sure exactly how it works in real jobs where you get PTO… does this mean you’ll get in trouble for taking your vacation, or just that you won’t get paid for it? When I take a sick day, I just don’t get paid.

I’m jumping on the “is is Friday yet?” bandwagon. Man, is this going to be a long week. Auditions are this week for the musical at school, which means everyone will be stressed out and a bundle of nerves until auditions, there will be lots of drama with people thinking they’re better than their friends, and then there will be even more drama when the cast list is posted.
Plus I’m competing against my friends, so I have a combination of “I’m so much better than you” and “you’re so good, you’re going to get the part! I never get anything!” coming from every side.
Yeah. Theatre is a really big deal at my school.
And I should be ready for work now, but I’m procrastinating because I don’t wanna go.
I need a vacation.
Hey, MMPers! I took my first bike ride of the season tonight. Only a short one, and within the development, but I was out there! I know some people have already started, but it’s been cold as heck here, in the teens to 20’s but windchill dropping it to single digits sometimes.
Today was 38 when I went out! Only it was kind of impulsive, so I didn’t have all my gear. I left my biking gloves home, and neglected to wear a hat. The main reason I had to cut it short was my ears were so cold! Still, tomorrow’s another day, and I’ve already found my hat & gloves for tomorrow.
I have talked it over with my husband–he is down in Springfield tonoc at a dinner with the Governor (stick that in your pipe and smoke it!), and I am prepared to give my two weeks notice, IF she un-approves my vaca. She approved it back in January.
It makes no sense that I cannot go–why not just not pay for the vaca OR the sick time? I said as much when we talked. IMO, she is being passive-aggressive about this (she said she’d get back to me this afternoon and it’s after 5 pm and nada).
I will start job hunting tomorrow-just to see what’s out there. I don’t want to leave RIGHT NOW–I want to get into grad school and work at a job I know like the back of my hand for 2 more years and then buh-bye, but it may not work out that way.
Sorry to take up all my posts with this. Good on you, Mika, for getting out there and riding. I wish I could even go for a walk–I am weak as a kitten at present. I have lost weight, though! (always look on the bright side…)
Dinner–chicken soup, again! ( I now hate chicken soup).
Having consumed supper and three beers, I now feel better. I have decided that I will deal with all of this. Of course I will. I always do. I’m either going or not going. I can wait until tomorrow to decide on what to wear. It will not kill me. Spontaineity (ie? who cares!) is good. All of my clothes (well, mostly) are clean. So what if I may have to iron half a dozen shirts. It will not kill me. Beer is good.
Bobbio that was not me in West Virginny. I have never been to West Virginny but it’s on my list of places to go, cause I’ve never been there. All the Untied States that I have never been to are on that list. I figure, do the US first then start on other places. Even Hawaii is on the list even though I don’t plan on going out of my way to go cause it’s a long way to fly and while I’m not skeered of flying I still don’t like it. Doing it has nuttin’ to do with liking it I say.
It got up to 75 degrees Amurrkin today. It was nice. I wore a long sleeved shirt so I got kinda warmish. That was good. Beer is better though.
I hate the cold ears thing! When the insides of my ears get cold, they hurt.

In other news, my brother just managed to spill a bag of french fries on the floor. I think my dog is convinced she’s found heaven.

Sorry to hear about your boss, rigs. But you’re doing what I would do. If they’re not going to value your efforts, it’s much more important for you to go on your trip. And you’re a nurse, so it’s not like it’s hard for you to find a job. Might not be exactly what you want, but if you’re going to change careers anyway…
Is there a full moon? Seems like everyone is dealing with unreasonable people at work today. My day was pretty OK, but the week promises to be (guess what?) LONG.
I wound up watching the Oscars, even though I didn’t really plan to. I was organizing DVDs and was just going to watch the opening, and then the organizing took longer than I’d planned for, then I was reading the Oscars thread and watching and then it was almost over anyway. It was pretty good. I liked it when Jennifer Garner almost tripped and she improvised “I do my own stunts.”
