And the Oscar Goes To....MMP

I think you deserve all the wine you want.
Mr. Lissar just came in and said, “Lissla, check it out! I’ve got Wolverine hair!.. you don’t look impressed. Why not?”

Time to make breadcrumbs from stale sammich buns. Anyone got ideas for about six cups of breadcrumbs?

OK, how weird is this - after our respective Dr appts, FCD and I went to lunch. Over his shoulder, I could see the news on the TV on the other side of the restaurant. They had a cooking feature where they prepared (I’m sure I read this correctly) haddock poached in DUCK FAT!!!  So you take a nice, healthy fish fillet and you poach it in FAT??? I don’t understand. Fortunately, it didn’t put me off my feed - lunch was yummy.

Today’s mammogram was a five-squisher. The tech had to re-do the right side shot. But I’m good for another year. At least I’m pretty sure I am. There’s no history of breast cancer in my family, so getting all these squishin’s is probably an exercise in futility. However, I shall continue to go annually and feel all virtuous about it.

The three hours I was at the office this morning were sheer hell. Our group’s senior engineer apparently expects me to read her mind. And she has no problems making changes after I’ve left for the day… AAARRRRRGGGHHHHH! Tomorrow, she leaves town for the duration of the exercise, so with luck, her stand-in won’t jerk me around like that.

That’s all I’ve got. One day closer to Friday. All you sickies get better, dammit! Have a safe trip, swampy! Bring me a present! Send me a postcard! Don’t sleep with your windows open or desert critters might get in! I’m serious about that. I had to go to Tucson for a week a few years back and in the hotel on the balcony doors were warnings not to leave the screens open at night, lest lizards or somesuch invade the room. But it was December and dang cold - not much chance of me leaving the windows open.

And the winner of the *Provider of Best Chocolates in a Timely Manner * is still up for grabs. If ya know what I mean. <wink wink>

Meatloaf!

The entree or the performer??

So … um … after deciding I’d stay all day, I went out to my car and rested for a bit during my lunch time. I looked at my watch at one point, saw it was 2:30, and gave myself five more minutes. Suddenly, it was 3:30 and I was an hour late getting back.

Oops.

I tried to nap to no avail. Headache is worse, but body feels better (I’ve stopped feeling like I’m being beaten constantly).

Oh, the joys of illness. Not.
Taters --I feel your pain. I do. I was once asked (by my Director, no less) why “my people” called in so much.

I don’t have any “people”–I in charge every day I work, but I have nothing to do with scheduling anyone except myself and I certainly don’t control call ins. This was about a year ago when she asked me, so for awhile it was quite the joke. (not in front of her, of course).
Draelin- go home. You’re going to be usless there, believe me. IMO, everyone gets sick after they have moved. It’s like there are new bacteria present in the new place and your body has to adjust.

That’s a good excuse.

I can make it through the last hour, and at this point, all I’m doing is answering the phone. I’m too embarrassed to ask if I can leave. I’m such a moron. But as much as I just want to go home and go to bed, I’ll force myself to go down to the doctor and wait as long as necessary. And then I’ll probably skip work tomorrow.

That’s what I get for not quoting. For Lissla’s breadcrumbs! I made meatloaf Sunday night, but I use Stouffer’s stuffing for breadcrumbs.

I’m not a great fan of Meatloaf the performer. Except for Paradise by the Dashboard Lights. And when they ate him in Rocky Horror Picture Show.

They just dumped a big ol’ project on me. Whoop-de-doo! (It’s better than being bored, I guess.) I (by virtue of always being given the same type of project) am the Frame Lady. So I get all the new frames to make.

I’ve been typecast! LOL!

I think my mom’s day yesterday trumps all y’all’s. She is going to take a long road trip, so she wanted to get her old car spruced up. $1120 later, it’s ready to go. She goes to pick it up from the dealership, and totals* it on the way home. And then we wait for about two hours for the police to come. Now she still has a long road trip to make, no car to do it in, a totalled car with $1100 in new work in our backyard, and a $400 “Undue care and attention” ticket.

*No one was hurt, thankfully. She was making a left turn, thought the guy oncoming was going slower than he was, and he t-boned her. She suspects he sped up for the yellow light.

Funny, I was just listening to “Hot Patootie (Bless My Soul)” earlier. Good thoughts going out to everyone who’s having a shitty week, which is everyone it seems. Well, I’m managing, I guess. I made excellent progress on the paper last night, and I should be able to wrap it up tonight.

My spring break starts Friday and I go home to Jersey for a week. THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE NEED TO HAVE LUNCH WITH ME:
-Draelin
That is all.

Provided I’m not confined to the house with Bubonic Plague, you’re totally on.

<pouts>

Nobody wants to have lunch with me.

I made some sort of hamburger/hash brown thing tonoc. Hey, I cooked! I’ll rest on that laurel for now.

Off soon to #1 son’s band concert–it turns out it’s not his last one. It also turns out the daughter cannot watch #2 son because she has late practice for soccer hell week, so I have to take #2 son along. Husband is in Barrington(far, far away for my purposes). I really don’t want to go to this concert-but this is my middle child and he won’t be playing the clarinet next year etc…<heavy, martyred sigh>
I guess I’ll survive.

Oh, and in case any of are interested: husband did NOT meet the Governor last noc–the dinner he attended was IN the Governor’s mansion. What a letdown. Bah.

I once peed in the Jawja Goobernor’s mansion. In a bathroom. Just so y’all know I got some couth. It was ok, too cause I had permission. From the First Lady even. It was Rosalyn Carter. So, Rosalyn Carter once let me pee in a Jawja Goobernor’s mansion bathroom. Who’s impressed?

I have shirts to iron so I can pack but I’m procrastinating for a bit cause I got tired. See, I am not stressing over not being able to prepare for packing last night. I am right mellow.

Taters you deserve a glass or three of wine. And a foot massage. And a bubble bath. I have decreed it.

I’ll have lunch wih you eleanor! Well, as soon as all the germs are gone. And we’re in the same geographic location.

Oh and Ashes I realize you’re still alive and all, but you keep not showing up here. Glad you stopped in! Enchiladas sound yummy. Get a new computer, please. (And whap the IT guy(s) upside the head for all of us…)

Fish stuff was funny, rifty. Never knew halibut had eyes on one side of their head. Apparently it’s my week to learn sciency things. First brain cells regenerate, now fish have funny eyes.

Glad your paper is getting there. I really want a spring break, but somehow don’t get one. I put in my request for a day off each in April and May, though.

Taters - wow! That was not an appropriate item for them to make your problem. Tell your boss we said so. (The MMP has worldwide influence, you know.)

Drae, I’m not a smoker, but do get bronchitis from time to time and my back hurt just reading your description.

featherlou - I believe your mom is the undisputed winner in the craptastic-est week contest. Amazing run of bad luck.

I’d like to thank everyone else for having truly crappy weeks as mine is looking brighter and brighter by comparison. One of our vendors will be in town tomorrow, so we get to entertain him at one of our weekly meetings. Should be fun as he’s actually a nice guy. I still have tons and tons of stuff I keep not getting to, but at least no one is yelling me about it. Yet.

I’m sitting here watching Sense and Sensibility and planning to go to bed early. Stayed up entirely too late last night for no good reason…

GT

rigs, if I were within transportation range of you I would totally have lunch with you. It’s just, you’re alllll the way out midwest. :stuck_out_tongue:

Drae, I guess I should send you an email, huh? goes off to do that

Ooo, **Spats is getting to meet Drae? I wish I was going to NJ! No matter, we’ll meet at the Ren Faire in the summer. Maybe if **Spats **is around he’ll even be willing to come.

I just finished reading Contact, by Carl Sagan. Color me disappointed. I posted a long thread about it over in CS, but I still feel like I was cheated a bit.

Other than that, I’m tired from slogging through that book. And for a while, it truly was slogging. Bleh. Gonna go make some hot cocoa, anyone want some?

Sure, I’ll take a cup, mika. It’s kinda cold in my living room tonight.

GT

I have all kinds of flavors, what do you prefer?

I want irish cream in mine.

I was supposed to spend the day housecleaning. I got the laundry and dishes done, but instead of scrubbing the kitchen, I made a jacket. I just went to run water so I could boil spaghetti (with gravy) for dinner, and found out that the water’s been turned off.

So instead I’m finishing the jacket. It sort of loosely based on an 18th century woman’s jacket, but it’s got full length sleeves and a mandarin collar. It’s black cotton and hip-length. It looks sort of vaguely like this and sort of vaguely like this except with a high collar, and it’s loose. I’ll post pics later. Right now I’m deciding whether or not to pipe the front opening in silk, and if so, what colour. I have some nice teal and black shot silk. Hmm.

Incidentally, everything on Koshka’s website is gorgeous.

Flavors? Hmmm, just something simple. Maybe with extra vanilla or something. Thanks, Mika!

No water? Eeeeek! Cool outfits though, Lissla. You’ll post pictures later, right?

::wanders off to inspect kitchen::

GT (hot chocolate is sounding awfully yummy…maybe with rum?)
