Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.
BRRRRRRRRR! My outdoor thermometer reads 18°, and it’s accurate, =/- 5°. :dubious: I should get a new one.
What I was told regarding fish on Firday - in the olden days, fish was the food of the poor. They couldn’t afford to keep a farm but anyone could drop a line into a body of water. So abstaining from meat and eating only fish was to remind one of what life was like for the poor.
Of course, that doesn’t hold today, at least around here. Seafood is $$$$$! So it becomes a different type of sacrifice. But then I quit being Catholic decades ago - I think I’m more agnostic. So I eat what I want when I want. I like fish, and I have it often, regardless of the day.
Today’s plans are laundry and unloading the dishwasher. I may push the vacuum cleaner around, too. Or not. We shall see. Mostly, tho, I think I’ll be staying inside. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!
Happy Saturday!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 38 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 68 and N.O.S. for the day. Temps start to warm up into the 70s again tomorrow. The big plan for the day is to funeralize Teresa. Other than that a day of sloth shall ensue. The daughter of someone I know went missin’ on Thursday but was found last night. Don’t know any details but I’m glad she’s safe and at home again.
There are no hard and fast rules regardin’ no meat on Firdays durin’ Lent for us Whiskypalians. Meat means the flesh of any animal that dwells on land. I do the no meat Firdays durin’ Lent just cause it’s a thing I’ve always done.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I should purtify.
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
I misread that as “caribou ribs.”
I ate caribou once. I’ve also eaten bison.
I think we can all agree that they are not fish ![]()
The mean 'ol sun went in and it started raining. I feel like I should be doing something fun with my day off, but I have no idea what.
Happy Saturday!
It’s friggin’ cold outside. The dog wasted no time in doing his thing and coming back in.
On the plus side, the sun is shining.
I woke up in the middle of the night, stayed up a while, then slept until almost 10 this morning. I actually feel pretty rested. Weird dream though, about being in a burning building, a store, and for some reason ‘they’ wouldn’t unlock the doors and let us leave. We were all standing there patiently waiting to get the word that we could leave, although I was thinking that I was just going to go because it’s kind of stupid to stand around waiting in a burning building.
Lots to do today.
I need to make up for my slothfulness.
And you would be surprised (or not) that that question has been debated in the RC Church for hundreds of years. I came across several Papal Edicts from the 1750s addressing that question.
I just had meat sandwiched between two pieces of meat with a side order of meat. And why is it that I can’t find a caveman Smilie when I really want one? ![]()
Because our religions were founded by someone with ties to the fishing industry? ![]()
Getting ready for the amusement park planning/social event. See ya’ll later!
Taz gets his revenge on me by stepping on the power button and turning off my computer when I’m in the middle of a game and about to win - the bastard!!!
Last load of laundry is in the dryer. **FCD **went to work. Higgs has gone out a couple of times. I haven’t ventured forth yet. Haven’t vacuumed, either.
emily, given that they weren’t priced as exotic cuisine, I’m pretty sure they were pork ribs.
nettie, the history of what is considered meat in the RC church is pretty much what Moooom said. Pre Vatican II (aka when I was a little kid), it was every Friday, not just the ones in Lent. During Lent, you observed Friday rules every day but Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, where it was one small, vegetarian meal. Amazing the things I recall from Catholic school.
In any case, I haven’t been a practicing Catholic in many years and gladly had ribs last night for supper.
Since my new airbag still isn’t in for the car, I slept in this morning. I’m getting ready to clean up breakfast, strip the bed and do a load of sheets and towels. Go me! I’m going to a chili cookoff sponsored by the Democrats in my old county this evening. There will also be a silent auction, a live one and lots of bitching about the current administration.
Perhaps it comes from the Rabbinical decision believe that is based on fish having a nervous system that does not feel pain.
I had a bison burger once. As soon as I finished it I went out to a field and slapped a cow because it didn’t taste that good.
Laundry is done. Go me!
I am finishing laundry. Then I shall re-load dishwasher. Hubby shall be home in a few hours.
I have been learnt up on serving alcohol responsibly. Class was only a tad over an hour with two hours of traveling time. Back home now and have loaded the dishwasher. I think I feel a nap coming on.
My roommate is practicing singing right now and she sounds sooo gooood.
I’m going to head into the downtown area in a bit.
Why is washing pillows such a pain in the patoot? I think they’ll be in the dryer for hours. I could not get the washer to spin them very dry at all. Bleah. I usually just run them through the dryer on high heat to kill the dust mites and re-fluff without washing, but Pee Cat “blessed” hubby’s pillows, so into the wash after Nature’s Miracle and OxyClean. Stoopid cat. Of course, now she’s curled up on my lap, next to the dog, purring like an angel.
Last weekend for indoor soccer, and as is my custom, I let the kids I am refereeing choose the color of my referee jersey (I have gold (normally worm), blue, green, black, red and pink uniforms). The Under 8’s thought I looked pretty in pink, the U-10’s decided I looked like a bluesman. We’ll see what the last game I do on Sunday picks.
Coached my final game, we came back from losing 1-4 to tie 4-4, finishing with a 2-4-2 record. had a lot of fun and I think the kids did too. Now next week, outdoor practices start…oh joy.
Everybody else is doing laundry today it seems, I’ll probably do a couple loads on Sunday.
Going to test drive a car on Tuesday and if there are no problems I am probably going to purchase one (on order, may take 6-8 weeks to deliver). Not telling what it is until I actually do it, but the deal they are offering is just about perfect.
Now to nappage, I think; tired.
Busy at work. I made a (non Kessel) Spice run, and picked up some Whizbang. I got Italian Chicken marinating in the firdge.
The Lord imposed that rule just for the halibut.:D*
So you can now serve without spilling?
I got a load of sheets going. Pants and shirts get washed tomorrow.
*Thank you, I’ll be in this handbasket all week.
Slept hard. Woke hungry. Steak night. Still tahred. Tomorrow is housework day and laundry and getting ready to go back to irk. Not much of a weekend this week.
We did pizza for supper. Chillage has ensued. It’s been a mostly lazy day. Yay!
