It’s the Apocalypse, people. It… was never supposed to happen.
Oh, Joy. Oh, Rapture! Literally!
Cats and dogs, living together… total hysteria!

When Bruce Campbell updates this page, then I’ll believe it.
If Raimi throws enough money at Bruce, it’ll happen.
[Ghostbusters fanboy] Actually, the line is “mass hysteria”. [/Ghostbusters fanboy]
But I wouldn’t believe anything I read on Ain’t It Cool News. Those guys are really irresponsible in how they throw around unsubstantiated rumors, gossip, and unabashed fan speculation in the name of “insider information.”
Hmm… IMDB agrees with you… Touche.
Did you follow the link? They’re linking to another site’s interview with Raimi.
Don’t even joke about this. Having Ash back would, well, just about make my year.
I worship Bruce Campbell.
I really don’t see the need. Army of Darkness’s original ending concludeed the trilogy perfectly. Besides, BC is 46 now, so he’s getting a bit old to continue this series.
And in any fandom thread, there’s always someone who stops by to take a dump on the proceedings. Thanks, gobear.
That said, I disagree on every point. I hate the original Army of Darkness ending. It felt anticlimactic. And Bruce at 46 is just fine to continue - Shatner was much older in Star Trek VI, and that went well. Harrison Ford was 46 when he made Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and he was holding up just fine.
By “original ending,” do you mean the one on the Official Bootleg DVD? That’s the version I bought, and I HATE that ending! I greatly prefer the S-Mart ending that they show when the movie is on television.
I’m not taking a dump–I own all three films in multiple editions on DVD, AND I saw all three in their first runs in theatres, so my fanboy cred is as good or better than anyone’s here. If this is merely a fanboy wank in which only enthusiasm is allowed, I’ll be quiet. But if you value an hoenest opinion, I think a new ED film, particularly if is it not directed by Sam Raimi, will only tarnish the memories of the original films. I don’t want there this to be Evil Dead–The Phantom Menace.
See, I’m the opposite I think the S-mart ending makes no sense in the context of the story or the character. The ending where Ash miscounts the number of drops of potion, only to weake up and find that he slept past his own time into the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust reflects Ash’s nature as a half-assed fuck-up who survives as much through luck as through his own abilities. It’s a better ending artistically.
Oh, you didn’t read the linked story. It is apparently being directed by Raimi. There’s talk of him allowing a remake of the first two films by another director, though.
I’m really not sure why anyone would consider this a good idea.
Ask Raimi. It’s his idea. Something about updating them for a modern audience, and with a real budget.
Personally, I wouldn’t mind a remake combining the first two films - the first wasn’t very engaging; the second suffered from a lack of scope, since we only get the background in extremely glossed-over fashion. They deserve to be together.
And hey, if they manage to find someone besides Brucey that can fill Ash’s Chainsaw-arm-bracket, that’ll make it easier for us to get sequels.
Oh, great. Uwe Boll’s Evil Dead 2. shudder
Groovy.
Since Raimi would be picking the director for the remake, I very much doubt that.
The thing is it would just be rather redudent. Evil Dead 2 was more or less a remake and a sequel to the first, with a bigger budget. The only difference is that they decided to make it more cheeseball and dispense with the redshirt friends.
Kinda, kinda not. The meat of Evil Dead was crammed into the first ten minutes of Evil Dead 2. Not much of a remake.
The story wavers way to far from the story line.
