Y’see, a MF thread would have ended there as can be demonstrated by “Peace, you are a worthless piece of shit, and a liar to boot.”. His astounding OP in its entirety:

You did site searches looking for things to be upset about regarding someone who has already been here a year longer than you have* and does not appear to have already gathered an anti-fan club or to have gone out of his way to assault you?

*(Length of membership does not indicate quality, per se. However, someone who has posted roughly twice a day for over a year, if that person was truly intolerable, should have already triggered multiple Pit threads. Therefore this thread just seems a bit odd.)

I am with Tom on this and if MFG had been a troll, he/she would have been outed a long time ago.

Troll outing or even calling someone a trool is a major no-no here Sparky, if you feel someone is being a troll:

You might consider going through proper routes, aka emailing a mod, an admin or both if you feel someone is trolling the boards…Your thread only makes me think you have either lost your marbles (most likely) or MFG said something that created your need to go back through the past, I suspect some of it prior to your coming to post to the board, and bringing this crap up.

So let’s see, in his 545 posts here, you’ve found one example where MajorFeelgud does something that could be called trolling (the Hillsboro thread) and a post where his language goes far beyond the pale (the telemarketers one). Whatever. The rest of the examples are really pretty weak at illustrating any point. Hell, I could make a better case for calling MajorFeelgud a troll (or a trool, if I wish to emulate Techchick). Not that I think him to be one, but there are worse things he’s done than claim that Big Brother is a load of bollocks (which it was, as anyone who watched the show should be able to attest to).

Major Feelgud is an extremely rude and obnoxious poster. He consistently insults, blusters and derides other posters without wit or lightness. He has a good deal of knowledge, but seems loath to share it in an acceptable way.

There was a thread in the Pit devoted to him, started by TwistofFate (who has 2515 posts tom! - he must be okay). As you read that thread you will be struck by contributions by the intelligent kabbes (468 posts) on the unacceptable behaviour this person has shown. Without wanting to drag Coldfire (6916, tom - wow!) into this thing inappropriately, he stated clearly that he agreed with the OP on this occasion.

As an example of MF’s demeanour, consider Guinastasia (Good Lord - 3572! That’s good, eh tom?). She said

Well not quite. What he actually said to this poster, from who I have only ever seen friendly and sweet comments was this:

I think the problem here is that the OP didn’t make use of the best of MF’s work.

Hell - I am but a sprout on this board, a crocus on the first day of march, and I have found Major Feelgud to be a pain in the ass.

I have to agree. But the point behind Redboss’ sarcasm eludes me.

Certainly someone with the perspicacity to realize the supreme unimportance of post counts (what a startling revelation!) would also have the reading acumen to understand tomndebb’s gentle critique of nikjohn’s rather weak presentation. Inevitably, such a palladin of pith would have to appreciate waterj2’s terse derision of the OP’s fuzzy theme, vaguely supportive cites and puzzling non sequiturs. And of course such a wonderfully ept board researcher would not fail to discover and agree with the succinct statement of SD “troll outing” policy provided by techchick68.

Surely a poster with such fine attributes as Redboss possesses would comprehend the obvious intentions of those other posters? It’s inconcievable that this marvel of wisdom would deliberately misconstrue, misapprehend or misrepresent the relevant posts merely to portray him/herself as superior in insight. Why, such vanity and temerity could never be associated with this paragon!

Oh, to have the mental acuity necessary to comprehend the subtleties contained in Redboss’ brilliant criticism! Sadly, I must pronounce myself incapable of finding those hidden meanings… I exit this thread, an unworthy recipient of the elucidating prose, made richer by exposure to the eloquence, but made no wiser.

What I find most amusing about the OP is that the premier example of MF’s alleged trolling and all-around evilness is the Peace thread. Given that MF started that thread just at the time Peace was banned, MF was speaking for a lot of us, and he expressed himself much more succinctly and cogently than most people in that thread.

I have to admit that I’m confused. I thought issuing direct insults at people was cause for a banning or at least a warning. If someone called me a stupid cunt…not once, not twice, but THRICE in one post, I may begin to consider him an idiot at best and may request some action to be taken.

I haven’t read every post MF has offered, but there’s some pretty icky examples given here. If people are calling for Sweet Sue’s departure due to excessive cuteness, I’d call for MF’s departure due to excessive cunt-ness.

And while I don’t want to hop into the ‘post counts hierarchy’ argument, I have to believe that if someone with ten posts came in and called Guin a stupid fucking cunt, they’d be out of here or at very least in the pit within seconds.

And also, by the way, isn’t this the pit? If something bothers you or rubs you the wrong way, this is the place to rant about it…regardless of whether it’s been brought up in the pit before. Perhaps nikjohns suffered “the straw that broke the camel’s back” which triggered this rant…although I can’t speak for him. And perhaps MF IS intolerable to nikjohns and he’s trying to feel out if MF is intolerable to anyone else.

Redboss ought to apologize to Tomndebb for implying that “Debb” was some sort of weak willed cipher, when in fact the poster “Tomndeb” is always the one person (Tom) and should Tom’s wife ever feel the need to post (to the best of my knowledge she’s never posted) I am sure she could hold her own quite well without clinging on to Tomndeb’s coat tails. Insulting a man’s wife when you don’t know either of them is really never good form.

Redboss, you might want to rein in the bile a touch and actually read Tom~'s post. You know, read it. And try to understand it. He has a valid point. To wit: if Feelgud is such a continual asshole, why hasn’t this come up before? Maybe, just maybe, there’s some context you haven’t seen.

I don’t know Feelgud, I don’t give a rat’s hindquarters about him. Personally, I would sooner eat lye than call someone a cunt. But before you start in talking that kind of shit to Tom, make sure you fully understand his point as well as the context of Feelgud’s posts.

You will note, however, that I did not make an actual issue of post counts. I noted the general frequency with which Major Feelgud appears to have posted without inciting the sort of torch-and-pitchfork reaction that such esteemed predecessors as Phaedrus, John John, or peace have elicited. Major Feelgud may, indeed, be a vile and obnoxious human being and a worse poster. Unfortunately, rather than reacting with vehemence to a particular recent incident and then referring to earlier incidents to establish a pattern, nikjohn went through an eleborate and tedious search to build a case for self-exile based on rather old news. I found this confusing, and posted just that.
I also never challenged nikjohn’s right to launch a flame or to question the presence of a poster with seniority on the MB.

I had a single observation: nikjohn spent an inordinate amount of energy to lay out a case (using selective data) to call for Major Feelgud to remove himself from the MB, without clearly providing the specific incident which caused nikjohn’s bile to overflow.

I looked for a clarification from nikjohn regarding the source of so much bitterness.

I’m afraid I cannot give your little rant even a 5.0. You completely missed the intention of my post (which did not chastise nikjohn in any way), then went haring off after a red herring (and, no, that is not a mixed metaphor), regarding post counts.

You gave it a spirited effort, but your energy was misspent wading through the swamps of your preconceived notions while my simple question was standing openly on the moor hoping for a response.

(And for the record, I did not track down (or even open) any of the links: a couple I remember having read when they were posted, others I “located” only by hovering my mouse over the link to note that the threadid was rather old.
Deb does not participate, here, so we can leave her out of future discussions.)

See, what I really like about these Boards is the capacity the place and the people have to surprise you. Many who have responded to my last post here have given me much food for thought.

tomndebb - oh dear. Your calmness and civility makes me ashamed. I was attempting to be flip and funny about the double-barreled name, and as I look back, prompted by others, it does seem rather mean-spirited. I’m sorry, I was wrong, especially in implications about Debb. The rest of what you’ve said is most thought-provoking.

xenophon41 I feel demolished! Don’t worry it didn’t hurt, and being made to laugh while you are being pulled to pieces is an unusual experience. I cling to the thought that someone has called me “wonderfully ept”

andros and MandaJO- I think my words above may address your points.

I still support nik, but I’m creeping out of the Pit, vowing never to return (to post, anyway), all subdued and unusually quiet because a bunch of intelligent people took pains to be rational, well-mannered and stick to the point. Somehow it’s not such a defeat.

Oh, and while the esteemed Major may have been right about Peace, that certianly doesn’t mean that he arrived at the conclusion through any sort of logical process.

Sorry, as weak as I thought the OP was, I’d kinda like to see MajorFeelgud leave, due to the fact that he agrees with me on several issues, and that doesn’t exactly make my side look good.

b) That really was bloody funny. And it hit some key points I feel - namely that FeelStupid has had a mauling in the pit in the past. Thus your suggestion Tom that he can’t be that bad really, if his 545 posts haven’t yet inspired vitriol is lacking merit. (Yes I know you were referring to time spent on the boards. But it is a Doper’s posts that inspire pit threads.)
