Andor Season 2

A season two trailer (more of a teaser) has dropped. Mostly with quotes saying how great season 1 was. A few short snippets. Hope it’s good - recent Star Wars hasn’t been the best (I kind of liked Skeleton Crew)

Good news. It is dropping three episodes every week for four weeks.

I like this type of strategy.

Each of those sets of three are set a year apart, leading up to dovetail with the beginning of Rogue One.

One of my complaints about Andor was that, though it was amazing TV, it didn’t feel like the aspect of Star Wars I enjoy. This teaser seems to suggest it will lean that way a bit more, with an actual Rebellion being fully formed.

That looks amazing.

To me, it was the Star Wars I never knew I wanted.

I’ve said it before, for me, it was the first Star Wars movie that actually felt like a war movie. Speaking of Rogue One, of course.

Yeah when I saw the late April to Mid may release dates I firs thought it would be a split season. We’ll try and watch one a night yet sometimes with a cliff-hanger ending it’s play on!

Also good when it’s announced and “priced in” that a show will last a definite number of seasons. The two Vince Gilligan shows, Breaking Bad (5) and Better Call Saul (6) allowed for us and the actors to know the show would never feel “stretched”. Of course neither of them had an in-story time frame even half that long (from recollection). I believe Babylon 5 was supposed to be a five year show over 5 years but got screwed around with by the studio.

OTOH I doubt Larry Gelbart (MASH) thought a two year conflict would last 11 seasons (and kind of also felt like it had that kind of time frame) and The Simpsons as most agree would have been better to finale after no later than 10 years. I only watch the Treehouse of Horror in the last 20.

Definitely. The Star Wars universe doesn’t need the Force to be fascinating.

less than a month away…

Starts tomorrow night. Just finished re-watching season 1 and was as good as I remembered. We got a heist, a prison break, a sting operation, espionage, etc. All fun stuff set away from jedis. I trust this season to be fun, interesting tight story telling.

But I’m meeting friends at the local pub to watch basketball…
(said few Star Wars fans ever).

Anyone know what TIME tomorrow it’s dropping?

6 PM PT, 9 PM ET (0100 UTC April 23)

Thank you! Guess I’m staying up late Tuesday night… (not as late as living in Greenwich though).

Three eps! Not staying up that late! Maybe one tonight…

I only watched the first episode, saving episodes 2 and possibly 3 for Friday (when I typically make popcorn and watch something*).
Not sure I will open this thread for fear of spoilers.
Right now there are 4 stories:
Cassian
The “grain planet” (I forget it’s name) with other folks
Chandrilla (with Mon Mothma and daughter)
Imperials about to mine unobtanium beskar kyber crystals (I couldn’t find the exact substance) on Ghorman

Brian

The storyline with the idiot pseudo rebels that captured Andor went on way too long but otherwise a good start to the Season. Was that planet where he was being held Yavin IV? It looked like it when he took off at the end.

I made it through the first two tonight. The bit with the dysfunctional rebels at points seemed to be being played for slapstick but hopefully not the intent.

The usefulness I suspect is twofold: this is the current state of The Rebellion, pretty pathetic; and how Cassian handles it now to how he will handle something not too dissimilar later, which will demonstrate his growth as a leader.

This first arc of the season had a lot of “filler” feel. It’ll be okay if the rest of the season gets better, though. Maybe the My Big Fat Chandrilan Wedding story will have relevance later.

Well it certainly had relevance to Mon Mothma. She sold her soul (and her daughter) to the Devil to keep the Rebellion going.

Any idea when we in the UK can watch it?!

Ooooh - I can answer my own question - it’s available here :sunglasses:now on Disney+!
