I have to say, this new three episode arc feels like the worst one so far, to me. Still better than most TV, but I wouldn’t say I loved it. Only a few minutes of Cassian actually doing cool spy stuff, then most of two episodes of him being a prisoner to stupid people. And then Mon getting drunk at a wedding rave? I could do without it.
I’m not 100% sure the implication of Cinta being the driver for Tay is.
I don’t think Leida was happy about the wedding, but was enough of a traditionalist to go through it. I think Mon did want her to have an out but probably had the opposite effect. Sucks that her friend is in money trouble due to the rebellion and is going to the same gangster you had to…
Agreed the jungle planet moon is likely Yavin IV.
I’m glad they did have a couple nonhumans at the wedding – seems a senator’s daughter’s wedding would have a few foreign guests.
Nice to see Dedra out of uniform – I knew Syrill saved her life but she is still way out his league and I’m glad she stood up to his mother.

p.s. Kalkite is the wonder material I didn’t remember in my last post.
It occurs to me the Mon should have used the “you can get out of this or at least delay” speech right after her daughter cried after her intended didn’t want to touch her.
I missed some important plot points and yes, I expect an “unfortunate accident” is coming for Tay.
Speaking of deaths, who else is safe besides Cassian, Mon Mothma, and Saw Gerrera? Offhand I don’t remember who else is in Rogue One (or later shows) besides Krennic.
It’s so obvious that I doubt they’ll ever mention him again. He’s as dead as Tessio at the end of Godfather, except unlike Tessio, he’s not smart enough to know it.
I dunno. If they wanted to kill him, that would have been a powerful climax for the three episode arc. It’s possible there is some twist in his story and his assasination is botched or he finds a way out through bribery.
I found the idiot rebels quite baffling in the first episode but I admit they grew on me in the second and it was an unexpected and welcome bit of dark comic relief. Their sheer passion for rock, paper, scissors…
I really like this release schedule of three episodes a week. The traditional one episode a week doesn’t cut it anymore while the full-season dump still feels a bit overwhelming. 3 episodes a week seems just right and divides the season into natural movie-length arcs.
But his death was a powerful climax for the arc, even though we didn’t see it. That’s because Tay’s death wasn’t about Tay - it was about Mon, and how she crossed a moral event horizon. Like her, we didn’t actually see it happen, but also like her, we know it did happen and that it was her fault, which is why the actual climax of the arc was Mon trying to dance away her guilt and fear.
My understanding is there going to be somewhat of a time jump between each arc. We’re at 4 BBY and the show will end shortly before Rogue One, which itself is right before the Battle of Yavin.
I disagree on one ep a week not cutting it anymore. Especially for a show like this that warrants some moments to think about what we just saw and with pretty long single eps.
Each ep runs 45 to 55 minutes. Two and half to nearly three hours is long for a movie, nearly into The Brutalist range. On a Tuesday night. And many of us feel some urgency to watch it all as soon as possible, both to avoid spoilers, and to able to part of the conversation of this week’s ep(s).
I prefer less than an hour of show released each week and more chance to think and talk about what is going on. This is rushing us.
