Angel - Peace Out

I don’t understand that. It is like random words strewn about a room of insanity… or something.

Have you been reading Walt Whitman?

Crap, then I am screwed. . . .

My last post to the Buffy thread had so many typos (I hit submit instead of preview) that I had to follow it up with an apology. My brain makes normal sentences, but my fingers seem to do whatever the hell they feel like. It’s quite annoying, actually.

:frowning:

Delly, from your post count, you’re new here. So I’m going to spell it out to you slowly and in a patronizing way.

You do not, repeat NOT post spoilers about Buffy in a thread about Angel. I haven’t read your post in the spoilerbox, so I don’t know what it contains, but judging from the reactions, it doesn’t belong here.

Had this been a thread about an episode of Buffy that has been aired, you use the spoilerboxes until everyone has had a chance to see the episode in question. That means, once it’s aired on the US west coast, spoilerboxes are gone. But only regarding the episode in question. If you want to discuss upcoming events in the series (this goes for any series), you’re free to do so, as long as it’s your own speculations. If you indeed have spoilers, even down to things like the title of an episode, you should clearly mark your spoiler box as such. To wit: “Warning, contains spoilers for future episodes.”

I suggest you read the sticky about spoilers at the very top in this forum. What I have added are not so much rules, and I’m not enforcing anything. It is, however, common courtesy. If you don’t want to play by those rules, I foresee a future were someone will soon be calling you to the pit. What then ensues is beyond me, but the basic rule for all of the SDMB is “don’t be a jerk.” Among other things, being a jerk, as I see it, is not abiding the lore that has evolved here.

Newbies get cut some slack to fit in. May I suggest that the proper response, when people say you made a mistake (which I’m sure we forgive any newbie), is not to lash out, but think about what prompted such response.

[/Moderater wannabe hat off]

Um. I should learn how to spell moderator if I even want to aspire to be a wannabe, right? :smack:

ok Firstly, sorry about the Buffy post, if I could I would delete it, I just thought some of you guys maybe interested in it, and because I was not entirely sure if it was true or not, I wondered was it. Sorry if I have ruined anyones Buffy watching.

Secondly, about my posting and how I post, No where on SDMB did I see a post regarding the right way to punctuate and spell, everyday in my school life and work life im required to do all that stuff properly, on boards like SDMB I just type as quick as I can and didnt realise it bothered so many people. Sorry Again.

About the use of the spoiler box, why is it exactly, when this is clearly an international board, even if the owners/moderators are American, that spoiler boxes can be removed after it is shown in both sides of the USA? Maybe there are some people in Europe or Asia who read these boards and may not want to know whats happening.

About the newbie status and how its being portrayed as a negative thing, yes I am new, a friend showed me the board maybe two weeks ago, it does not mean I cant use these boards. Just becase I havent used this one doesnt mean I havent used ones similiar to it. Hey Gas…I’ve even seen some people with a higher post count then yours consider themselves to be newbies  Lol

And about the pit, thats a scary place…dont bring me there please!!! Lol, no seriously ** Fiver, Miller, Lilacs, Gaspode, any future readers of post** if Ive upset you by ruining the show I’m sorry, it wasnt my intent.

Although i do say, you could have stopped reading it when you realised it wasnt an Angel thread.

Apology accepted. Though, there was really no need to apologize. Sometimes, nuances can be tough on a board like this, and there was no way of saying what I said, without sounding harsh - hence the ‘patronizing’ and moderator wannabe, to try to diffuse it a little.

No, there is no rule about grammar, spelling or punctuation. No one’s gonna drag you to the pit for that. However, it’s my feeling that most people try hard to stick to… um… conventional writing here. And you’ll probably find that more people will read your posts and interact if you are a little conservative, at least with language.
If you think the pit is scary - go to Great Debates and marvel how people rip each other to little bitty pieces, without ever being rude.

And regarding airtime and spoilerboxes. I know - it doesn’t make sense. Then again, I have the episode 32 hours before it airs in the US and in my country, they’ve just started season 3. Hardcore overseas fans, like myself, hav the episode more or less at the same time the Americans have. All others are warned by the clear title of the thread, marking that this might be a year before they have a chance to see it.

Peace.

You know whats really bad though? the only reason I type so badly is because Im lazy out and generally when i post on here its around 1am. No excuse I know… I’l get better!
Anyway I’l leave this post alone now
