Well good morning, y’all. I hope no one got boarded by pirates yesterday. Unless you wanted to be. Then I hope you did.
The office is pretty empty today. Senior management (including my boss) are at this seminar over across the river, and they took Roundboy and Mandy the Martian with them. So I’m in charge, of at least me and the junior sales guy. As for my schedule today, I think I’m going to get a haircut at lunch. I’m supposed to get my guv’ment contractor badge sometime this week, and I want to look all neat and pretty for the picture on it.
kai, I have a mold allergy, too. It sucks. I hope the carpet dries fast. What’s wrong with the roof? Just a leak?
This is my last day off. I expect to spend it wisely, by lazing arouind and dong occasional chores until class time. Mr. Lissar is getting very close to his weapons black belt grading, so he’ll probably run home from work, grab his stuff, and disappear to the dojo.
Today I got spam e-mail from somebody named Bacchus Bravo. I have since decided to name my first child after him. That’s a kickass name.
Prayer and good thoughts headed out to all those that need them–seems like there were a few of you.
I didn’t get boarded by pirates. I’d be disappointed, but I just constantly remind myself that most pirates do not look like Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom.
gt, a smart pug? That’s gotta be an oxymoron. Lovable they are…Lassie they are not.
sean, they did that seminar here a while back. The durn thing caused a major traffic jam during rush hour. Soooooo, can we extrapolate that Roundboy and Mandy need motivating while sean does not?
picu, I just got the e-mail about IBC this morning. I’d never heard of it and even checked it with snopes. Good vibes headed your way.
Nah, she just needs to replace the worn Walrus skins.
Ooos, Ahhs, tsk-tsks, and congrats to all where appropriate.
Okay, that’s it–I’ve got an appointment to get my behind x-rayed this afternoon. I don’t expect they’ll tell me anything beyond “You’re an idiot–suck it up and get an ass cushion.” But, I figure it’s a good idea, anyway. I’m in a little more pain than I was yesterday, which is why I’m giving up and going to the doctor.
I have some running about to do today, so I’ll just be dropping in.
picu, hubby will come around. He’s just scared. The Wife passed out in front of me after we went on a bike ride earlier this summer and it scared the crap out of me and I couldn’t look her in the face for most of a day. It’s a bad reaction, but it’s hard to deal with sometimes.
picunurse, good thoughts are headed your way. I really hope it’s just something benign.
Tupug, IBC has been all over the news up here in our little part of the world. They’re constantly doing stories about it in the local news and even had some special regarding IBC on TV.
Drae, I hope your hiney isn’t broken.
FCM, it sounds like things went very well for you yesterday. I’m glad to hear it. I’ve found I do better winging it when I do certain presentations. These of course are presentations on subjects I know inside out. I am also a “click my own slide” type of person.
I have a couple of planned meetings today and mucho, mucho work. I am so ready for Friday.
It’s going to be a good day. My boss is out so I can goof off.
Good thoughts headed your way picu. Your husband was probably scared and didn’t want to show it in front of you 'cause he knows you need him to be strong right now. He just missed the fact that you also need him to be there, strong or not.
I didn’t get my gown altered last night. The woman who’s going to do it was trying to get her plants in before a possible overnight frost and called to ask if we could reschedule. So hopefully Thursday I’ll know if she can fix it for me.
Someone just informed me that there’s a problem with the daily report that my group runs. ::sigh:: I can see the problem. I can also see that it’s not a new problem, but has been appearing for weeks with no one noticing. What I can’t see is what’s causing it or how to fix it. And, as I said above, my boss (He Who Knows All) is out. I’m just She Who Knows A Little, and this isn’t part of the little that I know!
you insisted on pics and no one looked at the album?
I’m feeling grrrr-ish today - for months I’ve been saying that someone else needs to learn how to do some of the stuff I do, and for months I’ve been told “we’re working on it” I say “I keep falling behind, I need assistance” they say “Other things are taking priority” (which they are, but then don’t blame me when the stuff I do isn’t finished on time.) grrrr
Maybe this caramel flavored tootsie pop will help
I looked at the pics! They’re nice. I like the halos.
Going to Costco. What do I need aside from Coke, butter, Jamaican patties, and eggs? I’m sure I’ll find out when I see it (creme brulee? a tent? an extra cuisinart? fifty pounds of ham?)
Aargh. Bailey sat on the mouse and somehow clicked Submit.
Does anyone ever not need five pounds of sour keys?
Attacks Husband just phoned to say he got a raise (at the metalworking-lampmaking establishment), and he’s taking us out for dinner soon. Awesome.
**taxi ** - could you post the link for the pic of the dress again? I’ve forgotten what it looks like - or better - have the seamstress take a pic of you in it for us to see
Oh, I don’t have any daughters, but the boss needs someone she can beat up on.
The Nephew got an ultrasound today. A problem with one of his kidneys was detected shortly before he was born; being a vocational fretter and a doc, SiL instantly thought of the worst possibility. Turns out it wasn’t anything so bad: after making her go to the big hospital in the big town with the bigname pediatricians, they wanted to pack her back to have the delivery induced back home and she said no way, she’d have the kid there and that way if there were any problems no ambulances needed get involved. The whole episode had one huge advantage: she’s a lot less likely to think of the worst possibility exclusively, now.
Anyway, one of the kid’s urethers doesn’t want to stay open; he had minor surgery to keep this from hurting the kidney, for a year, until he can get a bigger surgery that should fix it. Today’s ultrasound was 6mo after the surgery, to make sure everything’s ok. It is, so he should be having surgery in February… and Mom (whose Bday is tomorrow) is going to be able to celebrate her Bday at my place, officially inaugurating it. After all, what’s the point of getting a house with an additional ground-floor kitchen if you don’t use it for family meets, right? Yesterday she was at the edge of a nervous breakdown and then some. Both SiL and Mom are control freaks, which is a pain in the rear. I just hope I won’t be getting both at the same time in my house too often.
Oh, tomorrow is also SiL’s MOM’s Bday. And her father (who has Lou Gehrig’s disease and it’s going real fast) is having a checkup.
It’s not a very busy week at work, but the home front looks like Gallipolli.
