Angelic Voices - a Sunday Evening MMP

ok - now I have the time to respond to everything:

what sort of fish is that? is it like flounder or salmon?

I usually start right after Thanksgiving - and since I do all of it on line, I never have to worry about crowded stores

For Og Freakin Sake! do NOT fool around with your health - if they keep you in it’s because they want to make you better, silly girl. Take care of your health and everything else takes care of itself!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TARRAGON!

add me to this list of those who think gothic romances are icky. Give me a good mystery any day.

the original composition may or may not be but disirregardless, the arrangement isn’t public domain, and arrangers do get a fee, a small one, but still. And it’s all legal and everything. So because I didn’t pay any fees, I can only share a snipet with you all.

Drae - how’s the tailbone today? - I landed on mine a few years ago and wasn’t right for several months

Shibbie congrats on the new nephew-in-law

regarding hotel pillows - I need to build a little fortress, as my cousin calls it, i have a wedge to boost my back 45 degrees (tho because when not in use it stays in a val-case it’s down to 37 degrees), a regular pillow in psychodelic pillowcase that I tkae with me everywhere, a neck pillow that also stays in the siutcase, a buncha under my legs to keep my knees bent and ankles elevated, and 2 on each side for my arms - it’s very funny to see me set it up - most hotel pillows are 75% or more air, so I use about 10 of theirs altogether.

They were probably on their way to an international competition - my chorus will probably never get to compete at that level - I’ve said for years we’re the Mets of this region - but given how well the Mets did this year - that may be a good sign for us.

This needs a little more explanation - or at least a reference back to the post I missed where it was explained

I do believe I am now caught up - off to edit photos

I’ve been watching a shopping mall being built for the past three years near my office. Actually, I’ve been doing other things - not just watching the construction.

Part of the job was preservation of a historic dome. It was an intricate process for them to delicately insert a mammoth steel frame into the old building to hold the dome up, then demolish the building out from under the dome, jack the dome higher up, then build the new structure underneath and gently lower the dome back into position. Needless to say, this took months.

There’s also been an ever-changing parade of workers - each trade seems to have a particular look. The heavy labor trades (welders, rough carpenters, etc) have been largely little Mexican guys. “Rockers” and plasterers are dusty. Plumbers have been chunky guys, and most of the electricians have been what swampy and I would call bears. More than a few have been what I’d like to call lunch. <swoon> Painters are all over the map, physically, but are easy to spot because they’re <heh> spotted with paint.

They’re in the final scramble - the mall’s set to open next Friday. While some space is still being trimmed out, a lot is finished and ready for store staff to load in the merchandise. There’s been an endless line of trucks down the street waiting for their time at the docks to unload all of the shirts and shoes, watches and jewelry, cash registers and bags, soda cups and ice makers and on and on… Take a look around the next time you’re at a 100+ store mall with a food court and movie theaters and try to visualize how many trucks it took to bring it all in, and then try to visualize the mayhem to bring it all inside in two weeks’ time. I’m sure there’s a lot of “OHMIGOD! We open next Friday and we still don’t have the blue fleevenfleurs on the racks yet! WHERE are the BLUE fleevenFLEURS!?” going on.

Evening! Just got back from class. I am uncoordinated. We drilled zylls (finger cymbals) (“drilled” meaning did lots and lots) and I’m not good with them at the best of times. Today someone stole all my coordination, and I was awful. It shouldn’t be that hard to keep a 1-2-3 1-2-3 rhythm going when I’m just doing basic walking undulation.

Sigh.
Maybe tomorrow will be better. We did a lot of very precise motor control stuff- stomach accents (remember when I got all of you to stand up, suck in, and then push out hard with your tummies?), hip drops, and three-quarter shimmy layered on different movements.
Dot, go to the doctor. Insomnia is no fun and could be a signal for bad treatable stuff happening.

I’m supposed to make dinner. I don’t want to cook.Whine.

Oooooh, your thread really deserved to be threadspotted, MBG! Wish I’d thought of that.

Here’s BibKitty’s post you were wondering about, rosie.

kai, that sounds like a really ouchy fall, even if it was a long time ago.

Hey, Dotster, take care of yourself. (Did I mention I want the basket, please?)

Which reminds me, where’s Dottygumdrop been?

Hi scout!

That mall sounds like lots and lots of work, gotti.

Glad the remodeling stuff is coming to a close, Puggy. Mentioned it at the end of last week’s MMP, but I’m guessing you didn’t see it: saw a bumper sticker that made me think of you: My pug is smarter than your honor student.

I see LiLi has been out there doing our exercise for us.

Tired. That work stuff really wears me out. Plus also there was that exhausting haircut. I’m thinking an early-to-bed night might be in order.

I’m sure I missed someone/something important - sorry - I’ll catch up tomorrow.

GT

Ok. I’m back from the doctor. She didn’t all me a hypochondriac. In fact, I’m scheduled for a mammogram, and two biopsies this week and next. :frowning:
I’m scared now…

that’s normal - try to find something fun to do to take your mind off of it - they won’t do anything until after the test results come in, so distract yourself til then
Besides - they could turn out to be simple benign cysts - those are very common.

Oh, picunurse, lots of good thoughts and prayers heading out your way. And, as rosie said, lots of times they’re nothing. Better to know very quickly.

GT

Did she find something on physical exam? Or did you? You know that most lumps turn out to be just lumps. I hope that for you.

I was mentioned in a threadspotting thread! (you should have used my full name, MBG! How is fame to find me, if you use a nickname!?)

I’m SOMEBODY!!! (sorta).

 --in cool shades to stump the paparazzi…

I’m going to start charging for all this therapizing I end up doing to people.

Not again?! Same guy? Sounds like he’s not quite over his marriage.

Hope this gets better.

GT

Well, I wanted to know why he’d been so weird on our date. He asked me out again for this Saturday afternoon. I was completely surprised, since it didn’t seem like he’d had any better a time than I did. We had a long, serious, sort of strange talk, and I ended up pointing him to some (presumably) useful recent threads here about it.

Arr! I’ve always time to ravish a comely wench!

MBG, congrats on the Threadspotting!

Good vibes for picunurse. Don’t they usually do mammograms when you get close to 40?

photos
unfortunately, I’m having a little trouble editing down the videos, which average 35MB, so you’ll have to do with stills until I can figure out an alternate method of posting them

rosieposie backstrap is the best part of any four legged game ruminant. I was referring specifically to a Sitka Blacktail deer.

dotty, in all seriousness, with no control issues between us, please take a little advice from a broken down woman of 46, do not take your health for granted. Even with the autoimmune, arthritis, diabetic and hypertension issues, I would not be as broken down as I am if I had taken better care of my health when I was younger. Please see a doctor if you are ill. If a hospital stay is required, well, be thankful that you are young with no dependants and are able to take advantage of the medical care that is available to you. I know that I am not alone in saying that I care, and would like to see your posts for a long time to come.

I do not gamble because I do not win. Ever. Whenever skiffman wants to go play bingo or pull tabs, I tell him that I’ll just stay home and flush dollar bills down the toilet!

Ironing - bah! I despise ironing, because it was my job from the time I could stand up to the board on a stool. My family believed in spray starch, and not only ironing outerwear, but undershirts, slips, handkerchiefs, sheets and pillowcases, and the men in my family wore suits, and they had to be ironed. just. so. I don’t even own an iron anymore, but some of The Son’s new school clothes require ironing, so guess what I am buying at Wal-Marche tomorrow?!!

El Senor Autobus Muchacho congratulations on the Threadspotting achievement, although I bet you would have preferred a nice, quiet day instead!

I know that I don’t need to berate you picu but I will be thinking about you and keeping you in my prayers.

Best of luck on the wedding gown alteration taxi, my mom made mine, and was still trying to attach things as I was trying to walk down the aisle. BTW everyone was talking about their weddings, the first time I married skiffman we eloped from the village into Kodiak with two friends for witnesses. Word leaked, and when we got to the courthouse there was a mob wanting to attend. I freaked and wouldn’t let any one additional in! I was a very nervous bride, having vowed for decades to never marry. I tried to bolt, but the witnesses (very close friends) anticipated this and blocked me. Next thing I knew the magistrate was reading the vows, yikes! Our second wedding was fun, but the separation/divorce part really bit the big one, I don’t recommend going that way!

I do some of my shopping on ebay, which for me combines Retail Therapy as well as gambling in the comfort of my home and without the possibility of losing money. When I lose an auction it’s not a big deal, 'specially as I am good at bidding! The rest of my shopping is either done online or locally, and y’all would bust a gut laughing if you saw what we have for shopping options. Last year both of my sets of parents received a seafood pack from Kodiak and a ginormous amount of flowers from a Hawaiian company. One phone call, one online purchase, four people taken care of in one fell swoop. Or is it swell foop? The hardest is buying for the kids, Playschool and Fisher Price just don’t cut it with them anymore!

Belated Happy Birthday tarragon, I hope that it went well, and that you have a fabulous year!

Shibb congratulations on your new nephew!

Ah Tel, having someone use you in lieu of a licensed therapist is so difficult and draining. After 17 years I finally told my sil that she needs to go to a real therapist at either the Mental Health Clinic or Native Health Services, I just can’t take those 5+ hour phone calls anymore. I feel your…pain? Irritation? Frustration? All of the aforementioned?

I am having major sinus pain. Part of the remodeling includes tearing out the walls of one of the bedrooms to make the living room larger. While we knew that the roof needs some work we did not expect the last rainstorm (yesterday) to soak the carpet in the bedroom. I can feel the mold spores floating all around me. I took some benadryl but it’s not doing the job, and the stoopid pharmacy closed at 7:00, so I just have to wait until the morning for some relief. Meanwhile, my face hurts. Yeah, I know, it’s killing you, oh haha.

Did I mention that I made my bulb order last night? I love planting bulbs and then waiting for Spring. I am one of those people who go out and brush the dirt away as soon as I can to see if anything is growing! (But I never read the end of a book first!)

I folded a (I still love this measurement) metric buttload of laundry and put it away, and have walked skiffman through the steps of putting together a chicken/broccoli/rice/cheese casserole, and it looks yummy, so I’m gonna eat!

Oh great, my boss has been pissy lately, I’ll set her to defend those daughters.

You’re catmeat, dog

No cyst symptoms. It may be IBC. But it may be nothing.
Hubby seems to have opted out. He isn’t talking to me. He went for a ride for several hours.
I can’t sleep now.

I’m not looking for sympathy. I just needed to get some of these thoughts out of my head.

Actually, I didn’t get to post at all yesterday, amazingly enough!! Right after work, I stopped at the house long enough to take Bernie out to pee, then return to the house (important detail) and pee myself, change, and hop back in the van. I drove to the shop where FCD’s car was being worked, talked to them a few minutes, then headed north towards BWI airport.

I took the scenic route via Rt 2 - it’s a nice drive and not usually congested. Unfortunately, it’s a single lane in each direction, very few passing zones, and I got stuck behind a peabrain in a big truck who seemed unable to drive faster than 40 - decidedly under the limit, and way under the usual flow of about 60. So before I even got to Annapolis, my sweetie was calling from the airport. His plane was 15 minutes early, and I was late. I finally got there about 30 minutes after his original ETA.

He was starving, so we stopped in Prince Frederick on the way home and had some BBQ. Then we stopped at the garage - they were closed, but our car was sitting on the lot. So I wrote a check for most of what was due (I don’t know the final tally yet) dropped in thru the key drop with a note saying **FCD ** would settle up today, then gave **FCD ** my key to his car, and we went home. By then it was about 7:30. I had to take Bernie out and feed the critters. Then I sat down to read my email and the boards, but I was exhausted, and about 8, I just turned the computer off and went to watch TV in bed.

Good things happened at work. Yesterday I was to brief my project to a visiting general. When we did the initial run-through before the meeting, I was choking. Even though I know this project cold, I’d get hung up on my notes and lose track of what I wanted to say or how I wanted to say it. Swell.

Then the presentations before mine dragged on - the general kept stopping to ask questions and several tangents were explored. Meanwhile, my morning diet coke was making itself known, if ya know what I mean. But I suffered in silence, and finally got to do my part about 45 minutes later than originally planned. And as I had been sitting there suffering, I just put my notepad under my seat and decided I’d wing it.

And it went great. I had one small fumble - something I’d meant to mention up front had to be brought up a bit later in the brief, but that was pretty much it. Instead of hiding behind the podium, I stood next to it, I used the clicker to change my own slides (I hate when presenters go: “Next slide, please” over and over…) and I didn’t get the feared coughing fit. Go me! Plus I’d dressed all professional - no jeans and sneaks. I was in a rather smart pantsuit with hose and pumps. I looked like a real adult!!

Afterwards, the general came down to our cubicle farm and thanked us for our presentation. I talked to him a bit about what else I’d like to do with mine, so maybe it won’t die an early death… we shall see.

So even tho I didn’t get to post, yesterday was a good day.

Is it Friday yet??

Don’t forget about mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack time.

picu prayers and good thoughts headed your way. Sounds like, even if there is sump’n there, it’ll be caught early and that’s a good thing.

Why is it only Wednesday!!! ::whine::

Thanks, gardentraveler. I always screw it up when I try to link to one post.

Quickie Drive-By:
It’s nice out today, very cool and Fall-like. I love it. I hate summer and the heat and humidity.
I have to finish getting ready for work, but I’ll be back.
I missed the premiere of NCIS last night, but I taped it, so I want to watch that after work. I think Jericho is on tonight, and Lost starts next week. My Name Is Earl and The Office start tomorrow. Yay!

I watch waaaay too much TV.
