Anime fans, rename me!

I know what you’re all thinking - it’s about damn time he renames himself - and I agree wholeheartedly. Now, I’m batting around a few names, a couple anime related, a few slightly more literary (and Neil Gaiman related, in case you were wondering). Or I may just name myself Six (assuming it wasn’t taken), since that’s what I post news and stuff under on Six Degrees of Nothing.

All things considered, however, I’m leaning towards anime names since a) it’s easier to pick out the Asian kid (me) at dopefests when he has a weird oriental name b) I really like anime, and c) so do cute girls.

Favorite series(es?), in no particular order. Rurouni Kenshin (aka Samurai X), Love Hina, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Bastard!, Ranma 1/2 (I’ve been known to go by Happousai in some circles), Fushigi Yuugi, Kimagure Orange Road, [sub]Pokemon,[/sub] and Slayers (among others, of course).

So come on, pick something. :slight_smile:

You should go for the Dragonball Z thing. Kakarot(Goku) is a good name, Gohan has a nice ring to it also.

If you go for Happousai, you will have to run around cackling and stealing panties ya know…

Y’know, Czar, short of UncleBeer (and where has he been anyway?) you’re one of the last souls I expected to be rattling off the names of Pokemon…

Oh, and Epi, I picked Happousai (at one point) just to bestow upon myself to go around stealing panties and glomping onto nubile young women. (It apparently doesn’t work that way, however.) I am still partial to it though… As for DBZ, though I have nothing against it, it was never really something that I’ve gotten into.

At the moment, I’m leaning more towards Saitoh (as in Saitoh Hajime, of RK fame) - there’s something about the his cold-blooded pragmatism that appeals to me…

Three suggestions:

You use “Six” already? Try Zechs from Gundam. Say it out loud and tell me this isn’t a great user name.

I think I’m the only Doper who likes Digimon. Sure, it’s dopey and could be better written (and the dub sucks!), but it’s a nifty little show. The resident computer freak and best character in the show is Izumi Koushirou. I strongly recommend this name.

And for pure silliness, Akiraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Bosda, not a bad idea, but I don’t even have his luck with girls (I mean, if you have Lum, you can’t consider yourself too unlucky, right?). I’m more along the lines of Urashima Keitarou (Love Hina), Shinobu (also Love Hina, though I’m not taking a girl’s name), Hotohori (Fushigi - gets strung along, eventually meets a girl worth marrying, then dies immediately afterwards, or Kasuga Kyosuke (KOR) as far as that goes. No luck at all - that’s me. :stuck_out_tongue:

don Jaime, I kinda like the name, but never was the biggest Gundam W fan in the world. The bishonen were a little too bishonen for my taste (and yet I watch FY, go figure).

Trion… I don’t mind Digimon - the few episodes I watched were okay. The dubbing was close to ‘my ears are bleeding’ painful, though. Besides, I have the paranoid vision of someday being quizzed on the show/character I name myself after, and I haven’t watched enough of the show to earn the moniker. And I have an confession to make[sub] um, I never watched Cowboy Bebop yet.[/sub]

Saitou, I totally forgot about Hiko, blasphemous, ain’t it? I’m (now) toying with the idea of using him, Soujirou, Shinomori Aoshi, and plain ol’ Shinta.

Geki, Gengar as in the ghost Pokemon? Hm, I might steal the Eva Unit designation, then make it #6 instead. Maybe. And I never did finish Lain (my lunch box set never came in :(), nor have I watched Gasaraki.

Ura, good suggestions, all. Except maybe the Slayers fish guys. Fun, but after the end Noonsa came to, I wouldn’t be able to do it. Chaos Dragon Gaav has a certain ring to it, though. Chaos Dragon Happousai, anybody? :slight_smile: I also like GoHP - I might go watch Dragon Half just to figure out who the heck he is.

Fools, I can’t do the KOR cousin/Happousai thing, since the cousin’s name was Akane. It’d be like some bizarre “Akane marries Happousai” fanfic or something. Gives me shivers just thinking about it…
