Anne Heche: Actress, lost soul, burn victim [Update: She has passed]

Is that the scene where they branded him with a cookie cutter that at first glance looked like a dog bone, but was actually shaped like a penis?

Yeah, days later he looked like he had burned penises all over his rear end.

I didn’t post the link directly because of the rule about needing approval in advance for any sort of fund raiser, but yes, that’s the one.

Um… That’s not her shirt, that’s her bare skin. There might be some bits of shirt burned/melted into her skin but you can see where her shirt was because, presumably, there was a difference in the effects of the heat on her skin depending on whether or not it was covered. Third degree burns don’t always look charred and blackened, they can appear paler or whiter than surrounding skin just after they occur. They may not look bad at all to the untrained eye. The tissue is still dead, though, it just hasn’t begun to decay yet.

That’s why she was wrapped up in a sheet, most if not all of her clothes were either burned off or removed by the EMT’s.

Yeah, that was the one I was referring to. Again, a weird analogy but the only real example I could think of to illustrate how different a burn looks immediately after being sustained versus a day or two later.

Usually it’s written as a “medically-induced coma” when deliberate, and I haven’t seen that phrase in articles about Heche. It appears to be a spontaneous coma, which is not good.

Maybe a little of both? Here’s a still shot from that video footage:

Wrinkles on her left flank look like fabric, OTOH the irregular pattern on her right shoulder blade looks like maybe burned skin transitioning to unburned skin.

In the TMZ article, there’s a photo where you can see she was wearing a pink tank top.

It could be fabric or it could be her skin slipping/sloughing off. I gather standard procedure is for clothing and accessories to be removed as retained heat in those items can cause further damage, unless removal would start peeling flesh off the patient. So you can have partial clothing removal. It’s hard to be certain given the low quality of that enlargement.

No, it was clearly her shirt. She was wearing a peach colored shirt in the car picture that matches the overhead view. Some of them were washed out so it looks like bare skin. Here’s a view showing the shirt.

Nope, a lot of that is her bare skin.

You can clearly what is shirt and what is skin.

Here’s a NY Post article that has pictures of her in her car and on the gurney.

I’m not posting this to suggest she wasn’t burned. It’s just in response to the idea that her back was bare .

Where she is burned or how badly hasn’t been made public yet. I’m sure it isn’t a pleasant experience.

The shirt also appears to be wet.

Looks a lot like here tank top. As evidenced by a picture of her buying a wig only minutes before (posted up thread):

Contrasted against:

I think it’s more shirt than not, but it’s hard to tell with the image quality. People arrive in the ER with clothing intact frequently depending on the need and the opportunity. Considering how unsafe the scene is, I would expect EMS to scoop and run, they may have done nothing prior to getting her in the back of the ambulance. You’ll note that she isn’t in a C-collar and while it’s true we don’t use those as much as we used to, I’d think she was a candidate.

Actor Anne Heche, 53, remains in a coma following a high-speed car crash into a Los Angeles home on August 5th. Law enforcement officials conducted a toxicology report from blood drawn at the hospital, and according to TMZ, Heche had cocaine in her system at the time of the accident.

The blood sample also showed the presence of fentanyl. It’s unclear at this time if the drug was administered by hospital staff after the crash or taken by Heche beforehand. No evidence of alcohol was found, which is notable because TMZ obtained a photo that appeared to show a bottle of alcohol in the cupholder of her Mini Cooper.

In my county, at least, Fentanyl is also administered pre-hospital by EMS, and well liked for trauma pts.

Cocaine too. Authorities are now considering felony charges because the homeowner was injured.

The smoke seriously damaged her lungs.

It’s sad seeing anyone throw away their life. She is very talented and could have a much bigger career. Her personal demons were too strong.

It’s been 20 years but morphine sure took the edge off a kidney stone when I got to a hospital. I’m not sure what EMS can give in the field.

… and that’s why we have to be careful with medical information. While the cocaine would not be administered by EMS or the ER, the fentanyl might have been.

Or maybe it wasn’t a bottle for alcohol. Or maybe it was an empty that had been in the car for awhile. That sort of thing is why assumptions are such a problem.

I think it’s still questionable if Heche will survive to stand trial.

Yeah, cocaine can be detected for 2-3 days after use, so claiming under the influence is little more than an eye-catching headline.
