Talk amongst yourselves - I’ll give you a topic - both Julie Cypher and Anne Heche left their respective lesbian lovers because they “weren’t gay anymore” (Melissa Etheridge and Ellen Degenerers) yet only one of them has come forward to be interviewed by Babara Walters in conjunction with writing a tell-all book. Who is more credible? Discuss.
Credible about what? I don’t understand what you’re getting at…especially since Cypher’s lover wrote a tell-all book and gave interviews about it…so what does that prove about anything?
And one more time…Heche never said she wasn’t gay anymore, because she never said she was gay to begin with. See my previous post.

I didn’t see either interview, but what flabbergasted me was the buildup to it. The network bought ad space on the back of TV to advertise the Baba Wawa thing, and I saw quite a few ads on TV. It was getting attention like she was going to announce the third revelation of Fatima or something.

I remember watching last year’s (?) March on Washington on CSPAN and seeing Anne standing up in front of millions of Gays and Lesbians and saying something about “you people”… This was when she was still supposedly hot and heavy with Ellen.
I knew at that instant that she was either a nutcase or a publicity hound…
I agree that Ellen is a class act about this whole thing… I feel very sorry for her… I think Ellen was thrown away like a used Kleenex…
I do NOT understand the whole “Larry King fawning over Anne” interview… The guy was going on and on about how amazing her book was the whole time, and how it was going to be a best seller…
Damn! All those years I’ve wasted to get over my abuse… I should have just talked with Anne’s friends and asked them to tell me they love me and I would have been over it!

The problem is NOT whether she’s a lesbian or heterosexual. The problem is that I suspect she pursued Ellen deGeneres because Ellen was a celebrity and that meant that Heche’s name and face would have been splashed all over the press. In other words, had deGeneres been an engineer, would Heche have pursued her? I doubt it.

I’ve personally not been too terribly impressed with her as an actress (reminds me a lot of Sondra Locke.) I see this sort of thing similar to **Pundit Lisa & Guin **
But, frankly, I don’t find her story interesting. This was the first I’d heard of the ‘Bowfinger’/Heche connection, I’ll confess that when the scene of the actress climber walking in with ‘our most prominant lesbian actress’ I about fell off the chair laughing. I’m mildly curious to wonder what will she remember/do when/if her career starts flagging again.
On the other hand, I’m ever so grateful that (except for message boards such as this), my words in general aren’t written down for posterity’s sake (course I felt the same way when I was hearing Julia Roberts gush about being soulmates forever with Keiffer Sutherland, too).
For those of you who missed the Larry King Live interview in all of its fractal weirdness, here’s the transcript, as prepared by CNN.
I had to read the transcript myself. I only watched part of it, because watching the whole thing would have been like trying to watch a puppy drown. There is just no possible pleasure that can be derived from it.
She is weird. She is wack. She is not an actress that I can take seriously.
Considering she lives in Hollywood, my guess is that she’ll fit right in.
A bit of an aside - the film “Bowfinger”, written by Steve Martin. It’s my understanding that he and Heche used to be an item (correct me if I’m wrong). I read several opinion pieces indicating that the female lead in “Bowfinger” was based on Anne Heche. Anyone who has seen the movie will note that this character was portrayed as an actress sleeping with whomever was convenient to advance her career, culminating in becomine a lesbian in order to date a prominent lesbian hollywood powerbroker…(not that I would describe Ellen as a “powerbroker”).
Besides, nowadays she looks completely drugged out. Too damn skinny, pale wispy white hair, under eye circles, pale, washed out skin.
I saw her at the Emmy’s last year and thought-Jesus, is she sick or something? She looks stoned out of her gourd.
Does anybody have a site for the Barbara Walters transcript with Anne Heche? I’m in Australia and the only place I’ve heard about this is on the net [god bless it!]…I’d be interested to read what she said.

I believe that’s called delusions of grandeur, which is a symptom of schizophrenia (among many other things; my abpsych book is not here with me at the moment).
Now all we need is hallucinations (I don’t know the story very well, so there may well have been some) and some paranoid “the world is out to get me” or such and we have almost full-on paranoid schizophrenia. I think. Been a while since I read that AbPsych book’s section on Schizophrenia.
Only her father is dead, her mother has already come out saying that it isn’t so, that Anne is seeking ways to ‘hurt and humiliate her family.’
Not much of a surprise, my own mother said the same thing, but my father was STILL a pedophile, they know the kind of woman to marry to succeed at abusing their children.
It * seems as though * this is more about glorying in the publicity rather than either healing herself, or helping others to talk about their own abuse. Particularly the part about being able to recall her ‘celestial language’ and yet still say that it was ‘crazy’.
I don’t suppose any linguistics majors are here, to see if they recognized anything she said as part of an recognizable language?
