Another 'Fes up' - I actually like

I, for one. But I can’t afford to drink them often. I reserve the pleasure for a couple of tots each evening on long hiking trails.

Most people will not have heard of this, but I actually like durian fruit. It has a smell… uh… hard to describe, but such that it is forbidden on public transport in its native land, Indonesia. It is really, really odourous. Perhaps @CairoCarol can confirm, if she was ever brave enough.

I’ve mentioned before that my name here “scudsucker” refers to a traditional African beer made from sorghum that looks (and to be honest tastes) like vomit - but still I drink it.

Indeed. Today I will be having a tomato and salad cream sandwich for lunch.

Oh yes, we’re durian fans in my household, and even have a couple of durian trees planted on our property (alas, they are years away from bearing fruit).

I don’t know if durian is indigenous to Indonesia per se; it is very popular in Malaysia and Thailand as well, with Thai durian the most prized.

It’s Singapore that bans durian from public transport and hotels. It has an incredibly strong, lingering odor which I think smells like rotting/fermenting fruit (not something you’d seek out, but not horrible). On days when they had some in the supermarket, the minute we walked into the store we knew it was there. Likewise with our local farmers’ market, even though it’s outdoors: they don’t sell durian very often, but if it’s there you know right away.

Yes. It’s really the only candy flavor I like.

Loved licorice candy as a kid. Still like anise and fennel flavors.

I like sauerkraut to. Rubens are a favorite of mine. I’ve even perfected making them with just a toaster and micro-wave (did that at work). It worked quite well. The secret is to layer the ingredients right especially using the cheese as a moisture barrier for the bread from the sauerkraut.

I much prefer green beans out of a can than fresh. But stuff like corn has to be on the cob. :man_shrugging:

I like almost all the stuff in this thread. :face_with_monocle:

Okay, well, not ketchup on hot dogs either.

Pringles - they are the best for road trips because they fit in the cupholder nicely.
White bread - the softer the better
American cheese - I like the Deluxe better than the individually wrapped but I’ll eat it.
Velveeta - the only cheese I use for grilled cheese sandwiches
Black licorice & jelly beans
Circus peanuts
Cherry & orange slices - the candy that’s kind of like a gum drop
Saltines - I always eat them with my soup - buttered. I also like them with peanut butter as a snack with a cup of cocoa.
Graham crackers - with peanut butter
Hydrox instead of Oreos - although they’re no longer around
Tootsie Rolls - I don’t know why I like them, but I do!

Has anyone mentioned candy corn?

Cream cheese on pretzels

Yeah, the Deluxe is much better than the individually wrapped. I’m in-between houses though going back and forth, so I did buy some individual ‘stuff’ the other week. Less chance of drying out, and it’s a little better than nothing.

I used to absolutely LOVE individually wrapped Swiss cheese. There was just something about it. But I haven’t found that for 30 years.

In another thread several months ago I mentioned Pop Tarts, and @EinsteinsHund was quite emphatic about them appearing unpleasant after having looked them up.

It’s true–they are exactly what they appear to be: small shingles of overprocessed sugary pastry with a jelly filling and frosting on top.

And I love them. I keep a few boxes of them on hand at all times for a random snack.
So that’s my entry under “Fess up…I actually like”

I like my hot dogs (must be grilled, not yuk boiled) with peanut butter, Cheez Whiz, ketchup, and crispy fried onions. I can always find the individually wrapped Swiss slices in the grocery, and they’re perfect for sandwiches. I’ve never tried salad cream, but I love Heinz Sandwich Spread, which uses this as its base. Unfortunately, I can only get this as an import from Britain these days, as Heinz no longer makes it for the North American market.

Yup. Brown Sugar Cinnamon.

And our hot dogs must be grilled. My wife must have the grill marks on it, I agree. We are very picky about hot dogs though. Must be from Scanga meat company. Same for out steaks.

Oh, oh… we just moved 100 miles away from Scanga meats. Well, we’ll figure something out.

My wife calls this “cereal salad” when I do this.

Hmm. That might actually be good.

Toast that’s been allowed to cool down after toasting, with cold butter on it.

Frozen lima beans. Many people tell me they don’t like them.

The smell of coal tar. Does anyone make a candy that tastes like that, like coal tar taffy? I’d try it.

Remember, a lot of things you think are universally considered repugnant are best sellers.

Me too. When i was working, my lunch every day consisted of
haslet and Sandwich Spread sandwiches. Yum.

Yes !! Lovely.
Also with (small amount of) Marmite or peanut butter.

I like my steak well done.

I couldn’t tell you that I don’t like them, because I’ve never tried them. Never had an inclination to do so, and probably never will.

I do like lima beans, however, which many people do not.
