Another infant cut from mother's womb

Bond set at $5M for suspect accused of murdering East Texas woman, cutting infant from womb

Reagan Simmons-Hancock, 22, was approximately seven-and-a-half months pregnant when she was attacked the morning of Friday, Oct. 9 at a home in the 200 block of Austin Street in New Boston.

What is it with people?

One wonders if there’s an insanity defense lurking here.

It’s commonly claimed that life committed into a mental hospital is a fate worse than life in prison.

There’s some might hefty hormones and drives at work in reproduction. Sounds like the wacko woman was jealous to the point of literal insanity. She probably started out pretty close to insane before she developed her fixation on the Mom-to-be and baby.

I wonder whether her confused intent was to take the living baby as her own and she failed, or whether she was intending to murder it all along and her showing up at the hospital claiming it was her own was simply a ruse?

Not that somebody that wacky can necessarily make a coherent plot then execute it competently. It wouldn’t take more than a few seconds for any medic at the hospital to notice the wacko woman had not recently been pregnant; that condition leaves signs.

You’re about a week behind…
