Another iPod irritant: settings reset after synch

Video iPod running iTunes 7.1.1 I think and whatever the latest version of the iPod software is. After synching, the video display gets reset so that the video is a still picture the size and position of album artwork. Leaving aside the stupidity of even having this as a setting for video, any ideas why it would reset on its own after a synch?

How are you getting to the video? On mine, if I go through “Music” or “Playlists” on the main menu, then select a video podcast, I get the static image you describe. If I start at the main heading of “Video” and select the same video podcast, I get real video.

I agree that this is unintuitive in the extreme: the best I can come up with is that they think if you come in through “Music” that you’ll just be listening, not watching, and want to keep the battery life up (video eats batteries).

Well, sonofabitch, that’s it. I go in both ways since I have some audio and some video podcasts. Just tested it and mine functions like yours.
