If he were a Christian or a Jew it would be unthinkable to mock his beliefs in such a manner. But because it’s a religion you know little about, and are making ignorant conclusions toward, you think it’s just hunky-dory AOK to rip on it.
And yes, it * is * a religion. Much older than Christianity, too.

Well I don’t know about that. People do it all the time, even (dare I say it?) on this board. It may be unacceptible to persecute someone based soley (sp?) on their beliefs, but ridicule?..I say go for it. After all, sticks and stones…
So what? The belief that the earth is flat and supported on four corners by eliphants riding on the back of a cosmic turtle is older than christianity too. And, as far as I’m concerned, just as plausible as a lot of the crap hiding under the rubrick of religeon.
So, if you want to believe that Yahwe is the one true God, or that J.C. died for your sins, or that the angel Moroni gave J. Smith golden tablets, or burning inscense will change the physical laws of the universe, or your grandma is now a cow wandering the streets of calcutta, and that you destined someday to die and go to heaven, or the Celestial Kingdom, or achieve Nirvanna, or wander the halls of Vallhalla, or be reincarnated, or that I’m going to be cast into the outer darkness, or go to hell, or be reincarnated as a stinkbug…Fine. I draw no distinction between being insulted on a personal level and having my beliefs insulted. Insults are insults. Presumably you have access to an insult hierarchy list by which you rationalize your behavior versus the behavior of others… I say bullshit.
