I’ll admit that his bet was circumspect to say the least, but the other party had to agree that it was worth it to accept the bet. If anyone offered me $500 to stay away from the board, I’d take it, and I’d think about being made to leave all the damn time. Perhaps that was a part of Lib’s reasoning, perhaps not. The other party was free to reject the deal. Were they at fault for selling out?
I really, really don’t want to dredge that whole bullshit up again, and it wasn’t me who did, it was Lib, of course. And THAT is my beef at this point-- not that it happened, which is over and done with, but that Lib is citing it as a point of pride here, when really it was a clusterfuck and an embarrassment. That’s my opinion, no surprise to anyone who followed that whole sordid mess. I’d like to let it drop, but obviously it gives Lib a hard-on to think about how he paid off his nemesis to leave here and to mention it as if it were something good he did. I wish he’d STFU about it.
Ok. I agree with you for the most part, but it takes two to make such a deal. Lib is, IMO not vindicated in his actions, but his rival did agree to the deal. How is he not also culpable?
Objectively Lib got what he wanted. Was it ethical, necessary or even warranted? No. The fact remains that both parties agreed on the deal, as did the intermediary. He would have nothing to brag about if the other party did not agree to the deal. If Lib did a bad thing by making the wager, didn’t his rival justify the action by fulfilling the obligations of the wager?
I’m just playing Devil’s advocate here. I don’t think that what Lib did was sporting in the realm of message boards, but it happened. There is only one person who is responsible for making his bribe an entity. That being the other person involved.
Lib can, and has, manufactured numerous reasons for people to pit him. He seems to like it, in fact he seems to try to get people to pit him. The guy needs attention and sometimes he’s willing to pay through the nose in order to get it. Whatever. His payoff was MUCH more of a public cry for attention than he would like to admit. He could have easily made such a transaction via PMs, but that would result in less attention for him.
I understand your indignation, but you have to realize that any controversy that results from his actions, is fuel for his fire.
He is, and will always be, an attention whore. Fine. People that find it funny can and do post in response to him, but people that want him to shut up would be best served by simply ignoring him.
