So in my search to find new things to watch for entertainment, I came across Netflix’s Another Life. It’s a sci-fi series starring Katee Sackoff. It was released in 2019, and a second season has been ordered by Netflix, but has been delayed for obvious reasons. I’m through episode 6 of the 10 epi. season. Decent and entertaining. I like Sackoff, although I never watched Battlestar Galactica, but from Longmire.
Liked her in Battlestar, but having read the Longmire books, hated her in that. They completely missed the boat on her character. And don’t get me started on the wrongness of casting Lou Diamond Phillips as Henry.
I gave up after two episodes because everyone is just too stupid to be allowed to crew a ship; I found myself wondering which one Amos Burton would shoot first. Let’s take our helmets off! Let’s wander around an alien planet so if anything goes wrong people will have to come look for us. And let’s make sure the captain forgets to mention her attacker was attacking her when she defends killing him. As for having to detour around a cloud of dark matter, things like that are why it’s not always a good that I own a TV I can easily lift and send sailing out the window.
All of this is a real shame, because I found the premise intriguing and really wanted to find out what the alien virtuosos were all about.
My wife and I watched half an episode before we decided it was just to dumb a show. To the extend I remember anything it is that the writing was all “aren’t millennials annoying” - in space.
