Another SDMB fantasy football league

I was just skimming the projected point values - your match is projected at 85.21 vs 81.61. Much better than the 28329.31 (taz) vs 32.1 (whoever else) type matchups.

Also, you want to overpay me for an okayish type back like McAlister. Make your unfair offer.

Chitwood looks like he’s going to cream me.

:)

As the season goes by, as you'd expect, the overall scores more closely match the win/loss record. Only 2 people, depending on how you want to count it, are out of place.

Og’s lineup has been fixed. I also look forward to our matchup SenorBeef if just for the fact I need a win to stay in the playoff picture.

Your game mostly depends on the boom or bust nature of McNabb/Brown at the Titans. Those overmatched games are hard to predict for quarterbacks… sometimes they’ll get 300 yards, 3 TDs… but sometimes they’ll get 150 yards, 1 td, and then run the clock out.

I took donte stallworth to mitigate the threat. Let McNabb throw all his TDs to him…

I can’t decide on McAlister or Housh for my W/R slot. They’re also very boom or bust. Probably going with McAlister on a weak run D. Other than that, my team is looking pretty good this weak.

Thanks for fixing Og.

So it appears I made a decent move signing Devery Henderson off waivers, and a better move starting him even though Joe Horn was coming back, but Carr didn’t help me all that much this week in spite of tying an NFL record for consecutive completions. I guess it’s easier to tie that record when all 22 completions are for three yards apiece.

To be fair, the old marks were set the same way.

I noticed that Brunell’s 22 consecutive completions earlier this year traveled less than 70 yards combined in the air. (Some had decent YAC.)

No disrespect to Taz, because his whole draft is good, but damn, LdT is like an “I win” button.

Crazy week.
My team managed to suck some ass, but fortunately, my opponent’s team sucked even more ass. But we’re both significantly under our projected totals.

Almost everyone is scoring below the projected totals, although the Monday night game can change that for some.

The Stephen Jackson Express got derailed this week, needing plexico burress to score 8+ touchdowns, depending on yardage, for the win :stuck_out_tongue:

Faceisburgers on autopilot had a remarkably good week, with Brady scoring 32, Jamal Lewis 28, and Dallas 17. More than 30 points above projected.

Taz, of course, steamrolls whoever happens to be up against him that week. Tomlinson had another 40+ week, which is just sick.

Isotope’s starting WRs, Chad Johnson, 37.3 and Lee Evans, 41.50 combined for 78.8 points - alone enough to beat half the league.

Yep, went down to the local Staples store, and purchased this button after the draft.

This year isn’t turning out how I expected.

  1. Tiki is poised to retake the league lead with only 75 rushing yards, and is within spitting distance of total yards (219 yards behind LdT with one less game). Yet he doesn’t get the goal line runs - only 1 TD on the season.
  2. My receiver corps (Coles / Branch / Galloway / Moss / Robinson / Cotchery / Parker / Toomer) have been inconsistent at best. It’s always a guess as to whom will have the big week - hint: it will be at least one whom I haven’t chosen.
  3. Eli Manning started strong, but the scouts must be seeing something as he has cooled off.
  4. I can guarantee a good week for Reggie Bush by playing Brandon Jacobs, and vice versa. The rest of my RBs are useless.

Time to review next year’s draft. Hopefully next year it will be scheduled for a time when I can attend. Haven’t had luck with this thus far.

If I lose Colston, I’ve got nothing left.

I desperately need Taylor and Shockey to have a good game tonight and I think I can do better than a 70% kicker. Right?

**NO!!! WRONG!!! **

(fingers crossed)

Top 4 scores this week:

(LaDainian Tomlinson 8502392.12)
Isotopes 114.44
Tazmanian Devils 108.18
The Faceisburgers 100.96
Chitwood’s Penance 95.30

Overall (I made a slight change this week - I didn’t change their ranking numbers, so you can see the contrast. So the list is sorted by points, but the ranking numbers are their actual rank within the league):

1. Tazmanian Devils 11-0 1224.80
2. Chitwood's Penance 9-2 1060.94
3. Exploding Pancakes 7-4 933.62
5. Last Place - Kiros 5-6 885.72
6. Isotopes 5-6 872.58
4. The Gridbirds 6-5 863.84
9. Zone Blitz 4-7 842.68
10. Holding Out For Bush 4-7 838.90
7. Court Jesters 5-6 821.68
11. PurpleHelmedWarriors 4-7 731.96
8. The Faceisburgers 5-6 712.84
12. Og's Cowboys 1-10 574.52

The race for the last few playoff spots is going to be interesting. Almost everyone is in contention.

Anyone know for sure how the structure works?
Is it #1 and #2 bye, 3 plays 6, 4 plays 5?
Then 1 plays lowest ranked winner, 2 plays 2nd lowest ranked winner, etc? Or is it a set tree?

Me vs Isotopes and Kiros vs Court Jesters is of particular playoff importance - and each game has less than a 5 point projected advantage.

Taz at 11-0, and Og at 1-10, not so much.

By the way, can we get it changed so that Og is starting Shaun Alexander in place of Joe Jurevicious? I understand you probably didn’t put him in last week due to injury status, but he is his best player. Also, it would amuse me greatly to have Taz’s only loss come to the 1-10 team.

Aha. Here’s the playoff structure.

First Week
P1: First Place vs. Bye (no game)
P2: Fourth Place vs. Fifth Place
P3: Third Place vs. Sixth Place
P4: Second Place vs. Bye (no game)
Second Week
P5: First Place vs. Winner P2
P6: Second Place vs. Winner P3
Fifth Place: Loser P2 vs. Loser P3
Third Week
Championship: Winner P5 vs. Winner P6
Third Place: Loser P5 vs. Loser P6
Here and my playoff predictions. These aren’t in depth, because it won’t show the matchups for those weeks yet, and I’m not motivated enough to go through and check it manually.

Seeds:

  1. Taz
  2. Chitwood
  3. Me
  4. Gridbirds
  5. Kiros
  6. Court Jesters (Isotopes will be very close, and 5th and 6th are up for grabs really)

Kiros and Gridbirds could flip easily, and all the 4th through 6th spots are really up for grabs. I’m not solid at #3, but I think I’ll stay there.

Taz and Chitwood bye.
Me vs Court Jesters - me.
Gridbirds Vs Kiros - Kiros

Taz vs Kiros - Taz
Chitwood vs Me - Me. (Egotistical, yeah, but I have better matchups - Manning/Harrison vs Cin have to save my ass, although him having Palmer somewhat offsets it. LJ will have to run against SD, who may be playing hard still for a better seed)
Court Jesters vs Gridbirds for 5th - Court Jesters

Taz vs Me - Taz. (LdT and Gates at Oak? :frowning: shoot me)
Kiros Vs Chitwood for third place - Chitwood

So, my predicted final rankings are:

  1. Taz.
  2. Me
  3. Chitwood
  4. Kiros
  5. Court Jesters
  6. Gridbirds

Woops, SD at Oak is this week’s matchup, not week 16. I was looking at someone else’s week 16, then switched to Taz, and it switched to week 12 automatically instead of staying at 16. If they don’t rest Manning, Harrison, and Addai at Houston, I’d have a chance.

Sorry for the multipost, but I just noticed something.

Of the available playoff modes, you have, among others, these options:
Week 14, 15, & 16 (6 teams & no consolation)
Week 15, 16, & 17 (6 teams & no consolation)

I just noticed now that we don’t have a fantasy week on week 17. What’s the purpose of having these two options? Seems like you’d want to squeeze that extra week in there.

Is the concern about good teams resting players on their last game, therefore distorting the fantasy picture? That’s all I can think of…

Yes, that’s the concern. It really blows to have your starting quarterback sit after one drive during a fantasy “championship.” It’s still possible during week 16, but it happens all the time in 17.

What a way to start my week.

Romo puts up like 42 points, which may be the best QB performance of our league all year.
