Another SDMD food exchange?

(First off, mods: my apolgies if this has been deemd against the rules. AFAIK, secret-santa type things are still allowed.)

I’m not sure when the last one was, but I’m pretty sure people tend to like them, so who’s up for another? For those new to the idea, here’s the skinny:

Everyone involved basically posts and says what they want and/or what they can offer. Foods are typically local things, but sometimes a poster just might want something that is unavailable in their area (I, for one, want chipotle peppers so bad it’s painful.)

Then, for people to get/give their food, oen of two thigs happen (maybe both?):
People see what they can provide and who awnts it, and poste here/emails them to let them know.

OR

The names are all taken and matched up as best as possible using people’s choices and what they can provide, secret sants style (although you usually know who is giving you stuff and what it is.)

I’m not great on the organizational skills, but I will offer to be the coordinator if noe one else is, since I am the one who started the thread.

So, any takers?

You can’t get chipotles in NY? Hell, I can get them here in the Frozen North. Are you talking about the actual dried peppers, or the cans of them in adobo sauce?

Great idea for a thread!

I can easily provide you with canned chipotle peppers, if you want. I buy them frequently at the regular supermarkets–they come in small cans, packed in tomatoey “adobo sauce.” What do you say to that, bouv?

I’d like to get a jar of olive salad to make muffaletta sandwiches. I know this originated at the Central Grocery Store on Decatur Street in New Orleans, LA, but I’m not sure if that is perishable how they sell it, or how expensive it would be. Also, I hear Trader Joe’s makes an excellent muffaletta salad in jars, but we don’t have any of those in the entire state.

Speaking of New Orleans, I’d love to get my hands on some Big Shot root beer, but I’m sure shipping a bunch of 2-liter bottles might end up becoming prohibitively expensive. Any Louisianans in the house?

It’s not that you can’t get them in NY, you can…just noy MY part of NY. I live in a VERY rural area, so there is no demand, so no grocery stores sell them (I have looked in the about half dozen that are around my home/work. Even the 24 hour price chopper doesn’t have them :frowning: .)
Myself, I can provide anyone with actualt, factual, REAL Vermont maple syrup (I may live in NY, but I was born and raised in VT.) I’ll get you the good stuff, too. Not the crappy grade A, oh no, we’re talking grade B, dark and thick.

I also got Humpty Dumpty chips if I look hard enough, Stewart’s soda (their rootbeer and orange cream are amazing,) and probably some other stuff.

Hey, e-mail me! I have to go to the supermarket tonight and the post office on Saturday morning. I could probably pick you up enough cans to keep you in smoky red peppers for a while, and then ship them up your way. If you could send me a check or Paypal money, that would be swell, but just let me know how many you want, if any. (You can check my eBay feedback as “bigbadvoodoolou” to see that I wouldn’t run off with your chipotle money. )
