Heh.
Not easy, is it? Wives have to appear loving, generally supportive but not accepting of the specific behavior of the husband, dignified and strong, and completely non-vindictive. Otherwise they’re either hellbitches who made the behavior understandable, or weak little pushovers who (again) didn’t provide the support and companionship that a spouse should. It’s a tough script to perform convincingly.
What people *really *want is to know what they say in private.
The “good wife” I most admire is Jenny Sanford. I think her approach of moving out as quietly as possible given the media attention and filing for divorce is just fine.
Other options:
-
Come to an agreement with your husband that you don’t mind his philandering (picture sharing, whatever). Publicly state that you are good with his activities and that they are part of the unique structure of your marriage. Support his political campaigns on that basis.

Come to an agreement with your husband that you don’t mind his philandering. Tell him that the unique structure of your marriage is a private matter, but that you cannot and will not support him in political campaigns if he’s going to lie about it. Let him choose between a marriage with philandering and a political career.
Not an option: Stand up and proudly support him while either a) lying about the fact that he’s a philandering jerk and you know it or b) lying about the fact that he’s a philanderer and you accept it.
They need to pull these guys aside, and in private, say, “Look, you fucked up! You fucked up, got caught and then lied about it. Suck it up and take your licks. Do the right thing, drop out of the race and stop making an ass out of yourself, and your friends and family by proxy. I’m not gonna throw you under the bus, but I’m not gonna let you drag me further thru the mud. Sit the fuck down, and shut the fuck up!”
So I see today on the news that ol’ Tony Dick goes to some AARP-sponsored event and gets into it with one of his opponents, and calls him “Grandpa” in a demeaning manner.
Can’t wait to hear what he does if he goes to some NAACP event!
The Nation likes Bill de Blasio. Does he have a chance?
Well, clearly then, case closed. I think you should take this at face value, just like all of the other good info on DeadBreitbart.
In the last couple of days Weiner has made the news for getting into an argument with an older candidate at a mayoral forum and calling him “grandpa,” and this weird interview. Feel the Tony-mentum!
You might just as well cite The Onion, you know.
The Onion is entertaining.
Holy crap. Would her friends really say, “Please come to our party, but mmmmmaybe it would be better if your husband stayed home?”
Yes, the poor dear. Her most nightmarish moments were in the Hamptons getting invited to parties and her husband being snubbed.
Ha ha ha!
Well, if Huma were a Doper we’d all be telling her to dump his ass, and if it meant destroying his career, good.
If Hillary had shot Bill in the dick we’d have elected her instead of Barry O.
And that would have been a stupid reason to elect her.
I have no right to ask for or expect this, but what I want is an honest explanation for why they made the decision to stay.
You got it in the first half of your sentence—The honest explanation is that it’s not our fucking business. Period.
That being the case, you’ll have to settle for speculation, such as the following: The two women you mentioned aren’t stereotypical supportive housewives. They are politically powerful and ambitious in their own right. Their own careers and futures in politics and the behind-scenes power structure are tied to their husband’s, as our culture pretty much requires - neither would be what she is without her husband, and vice versa btw.
But there’s a point in a marriage with a power-partner aspect at which the commitment is irreversible without serious consequences to the power of each. Hillary was stuck with Bill, for better or worse, because her own future in the world of power depended on it, and the same is true for Huma and Carlos Danger. They each have made the decision that is best for their own careers and futures, and made the best of it.
I’ve elevated being an ass to an art form. This guy has made it a fucking SCIENCE!
What the hell is his problem?
