AnthroCon 2009 - A Murry, Purry, Furry MMP!

Two down, three to go! Yay for the new job for FCD! Rosie, I like your steps program for telling the parents - hah!

Daughter and I went to the Farmer’s Market, the one more local to us, this afternoon. It’s actually getting a lot more support this summer or so it appears, cause it was quite crowded. We got: a cantaloupe, a bunch of fresh scallions, green beans, yellow squash, some fresh baked goods (tea cakes, a choc. croissant), and some fresh peaches. Then I also got some tomatoes and a pint of blueberries! We made out quite good today, but boy were my legs hurting by the time we got home. I dunno if I"m going to make it in to work tomorrow or not. I did take my NSAID just a while ago, though, so maybe it will hold me enough.

Whew! It’s not FIRDAY yet, is it?!

I’m not too worried about Dad, he’s fairly open minded. My Mom, on the other hand, is fairly fundamentalist. She has been known to use the phrase “love the sinner, hate the sin” in reference to my gay cousin. C did something similar, though.

Just felt the need to point out the Google ads at the bottom of the page that us freeloaders can see - the last three I saw were for a Furry meeting site, a podiatrist, and a store selling something called “Medical Crocs”. Only in the MMP… :D:D:D

Sorry, the Google Ads just amuse me. I love watching them change along with the content of a thread.

They’re all for foot stuff now.

I was going to answer, but Mom has just gotten out of bed and she’s In A Mood. Sigh. Talk to y’all later…

I have a different kind of doctor’s appointment today. I have to see the Medical Director for an oral exam, which is the last hurdle to being able to work as an Intermediate EMT.

Is ‘break a leg’ appropriate for this?

That, or maybe: “fix a broken leg!”

Up. Need to get going. Harry Potter tonight. Yay!

Back later.

GT

Allergies are le blurf.

Mom is now yelling at me because she’s angry at her cleaning lady.

Flower, I’m glad you’re getting away from your comfy wall. G’luck with the parental units.

General good wishes all around and a get-well kiss for Muppet’s foot.

Blurf.

Alternatively…

  1. Mom? You believe women are as good as men and should be able to make the same choices, right?

  2. (A bit later…) When a man falls in love with a lovely woman and wants to live with her, that’s good, right…?

  3. (going for the kill) Well, since women can make the same choices as men, then it’s OK that I’ve fallen in love with a lovely woman and want to live with her.

… Right…?

:stuck_out_tongue:

Since you’re probably that much more annoying than the cleaning lady, just imagine how the poor dear suffers when your mom is angry at you…! :stuck_out_tongue:

(D & R away from the pair of enraged women throwing things at me  :D)

My head hurts too much to hurl anything at anybody. I prefer hitting people at melee distance, tho, so once I recover you may consider yourself thoroughly bashed with a teddy bear if that makes you happy.

Sorry about the headache :frowning: I’m hoping that it’s alcohol induced (:D) rather than just you feeling under the weather?

I’ll be waiting… armed with a pillow  … for your swift recovery

I’ve got a pillow…

Good morning.

Pillowfight!!!

:: bashes Bobbio with a pillow shaped like a dogbone::

Whoa! That’s some favorable tax code that turns a dime into 60 cents!

Yay for new job for FCD!

Yay for new girlfriend excitement and maybe moving in together, Flower! Good luck with the parents.

I’ve never played apples to apples, moonie. What’s the game like?

I really don’t like the desktop index feature of MS Office 07. I never store stuff on my C drive anyway (have to keep stuff on the shared corporate drive) so it’s useless, but it takes it 45 min or so when I log on to index everything, really slowing down all the programs that I’m actually trying to run during that time. I want a way to tell it to GO AWAY, but I don’t know if that’s an option. Grrrr.

I’m going to try tarragon (NOTarra) cream chicken and polenta pot pies for dinner tonight. Recipe here. Yes, I know it’s Rachael Ray, but I like her recipes. So all the uber-foodies who hate her can just bite my chicken pot pie. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, dammit, I mean six cents after taxes! I just wasn’t all there yesterday. I’m still feeling tired today.

Good luck with the oral exam, Bobbio.

Alistair, the job, were I to get it, would be as a Supervisory Program and Management Analyst. Trust me, it’s not that exciting; four times the work, four times the responsibility, only five percent salary increase. Frankly, I don’t think I’ll get it anyway, which doesn’t break my heart at all.

I supposed I should force myself to work. I have tons to do, I’m just not feeling overly motivated.

I know the not motivated thing, Taters! I’m with you on that.

And I’m hungry. I wanna go get lunch! Now! (OK so I can, but then I’ll be back really early and the afternoon will seem loooooooooooooong.)

I’m sitting killing time at the Allstate drive-in waiting to get an estimate. I find this somewhat frustrating as last week the agent told me I should go to my body shop of choice and get one. So after I already did, the claims adjuster tells me that I need to have one done by allstate.
I used to work at a body shop so I understand why they would want to do their own. What I don’t understand is why the agent wouldn’t know that.

Oh well.

How are the knees, rosie?

I passed!!! Yee-ha!

I ought to turn it into a tale, but the DR doc doing the exam kept saying “I love those engineers” every time I did a drug calculation off the top of my head…

::clocks Rebo with a bag of goosedown::

Have I mentioned lately how much I love all day meetings?

Yep, nothing gives me more joy than sitting in a dark room, staring at something someone is doing on a projector, trying to figure out what the person on speakerphone is saying through all the interference, and arguing about stupid crap that should have been fixed when the issue first came up weeks and weeks and weeks ago.

Wheeeeeee!

I shall now go perk myself up with lunch, which today consists of leftover poke chop with green bean and bulgur salad. NOM!

ETA: Congrats, Vundy! What kind of perks come from being Intermediate?
