AnthroCon 2009 - A Murry, Purry, Furry MMP!

Were you the guy harboring the fugitive Klansman in Tel Aviv? :dubious:

Whew!

We’re going to be a little bit busy tomorrow so I did some of the work tonight. Now I’m just going to chill for awhile and then head to bed.

Home for weekend at last! Tomorrow, I have errands to run, hopefully I can sneak in a pedicure, Saturday we’re going to a party, Sunday I’m packing for my trip, and early on Monday, I’ll be winging my way to San Antonio, TX.

My boss was back at work today after taking his kids to Hawaii. He came in to my office first thing this morning to tell me I had made the list for the job. I told him that I knew that and expressed my surprise at even making the list.

During lunch, I was eating my salad when he came into my office because he wanted me to come to his office so he could interview me for the job.
Once he saw I was eating, he told me to finish up, but it wasn’t like my salad was going to become cold, so I put it away, and followed him to his office.

He told me this was going to be the “first” part of the interview process and surprised me in purpose. He also said he wouldn’t have done that if it wasn’t just him interviewing me for this portion.

At any rate, we discussed my resume, my experience, my education, and other things. He asked me what I felt a supervisor was supposed to be, and I told him that in my opinion, a good supervisor was both a leader AND a team member who provided mentorship and assistance, tried to grow his or her employees, wasn’t afraid to get his or her hands dirty with the work, and had some knowledge of what his or her employees did and how they did it, and finally, treated everyone with dignity and respect, regardless of where they fell in the “food chain”.

He asked what I would do in situations as both an employee and a supervisor, providing examples. I told him what I would do in each of those situations. He asked me if I would find it difficult to work in our office if he selected someone else and I told him that I wouldn’t find that problematic at all because I want what’s best for the office and the hospital.

I expressed what my goals would be in that position and how I would go about trying to achieve them. There were many more questions and answers, but it would take forever to type it out, and I’m tired.

At any rate, I don’t know if the interview process will go further, or if I gave good answers, I just answered honestly. I was surprisingly calm. I suppose that’s because I really don’t care if I get the job. In the end, this was a chance to stretch and see what I’m capable of doing.

I think I’m going to chill for a bit.

Smooches and hugs to all.

Tonight was Select-a-Seat night at the RBC, I moved to the mezzanine with some friends. It’s more money, but I’ll just eat Beneful with Nelly and Gordie. DM was panicky today because: 1. My packaway seasonal stuff was right and scanned 2. 1/2 my backroom was already stacked for inventory 3. My sales floor was 95% ready for inventory with 3 days to go.:dubious:

VBob, Lunch, you’re bickering like an old married couple.

Muppet, I might, but I don’t know how violently jealous KeithT is.

So, I think it might be my turn to start an MMP, it’s been a while. Is anyone up for [del]Sunday[/del]Monday yet?

We have a motion for rosie to do the MMP next week.

All in favor:
Aye!

All opposed?
: mime :

Motion is approved.

Can I have a motion for beer?

So moved. Second?

Woooo hooo! A rosie MMP it is!

::flings confetti::

What is this beer of which you speak, doggio?

::Ponders sneaking out to the corner store for beer.::

Good luck with the job, Taters.

Pictures are all uploaded.

Beer really sounds good. Motion seconded. I blame doggio.

It’s my weekend!!! Yeee hawwwww!!!

GT

gt, I had the Highland Black Mocha Stout at Tobacco Road Cafe. A few of the Canes Booster club board members were scouting locations for the convention Pub Crawl in 2011. I foresee much reseach into the matter.

For those of us who have problems with beerverages, I’ve brought some liquid chocolate…

Taters, I have no idea whether it’s best for you to get the promotion or not, in the long run (I left my crystal ball in my other handbag), but I hope it goes well whatever happens.

I appreciate the good wishes. As I have said numerous times, it doesn’t really matter to me if I get the job or not. I kind of hope I don’t. It was just an opportunity to stretch myself. I guess I’m afraid of failing or biting off more than I can chew.

I’m not stressing about it at all, though. I’m really not. It’s funny, actually.

I’s tahred…I haven’t made it home from work before 9.30 this week (ususally close to 10) but last night was stupid. Half of Paris is dug up so they have changed some of the bus routes except they didn’t tell ya! The moved the bus stop of the bus I take home - everyone dutifully trooped around the corner to the bus stop that said it was for my bus want watched the crazy traffic as the busses were going in the oppostite direction and waited…and waited…and waited 50 mins later I thought screw this I will get the metro and walk even though I am on crutches. Walked to the metro and found where the buses were turning around but the transport authority failed to mention it grrrrrrrr

On the plus side it is Friday, I get to sleep in tomorrow, I might go to see Harry Potter this weekend and in 27 days I get to see my hubby whoohoo!

Hey…where’s swampy? He hasn’t been here since Monday. Not at Skip’s place, either. Hope it’s just cable or computer problems.

Bus reroutes sound messy and annnoying, mmmmmmmmmmm, so yay for almost the weekend!

Fell asleep, then woke up again… Good thing I don’t have to get up early.

Back later.

GT

Yaaaaaaaaawn.

Morning folks - blurfy, so I’m going to be brief.

And on top of it all, someone at work left me a butt load of stuff to do today! The noive! I’ll actually have work to do on Friday of all things!!

LOL Ah well, at least there is work to be done. And I’ve got blueberries to eat for brekkie today.

Oh yeah … HAPPY FIRDAY!!!

Blurf.

I took a bambilance call that kept me out until midnight.

Hey, he started it. But I can see me forgiving Nooner if he can set me up with some of that HorneyGum[sup]tm[/sup] they developed. It’s far less obvious than green M&Ms, after all. :stuck_out_tongue:

:D:D:D:D

Of course I’m kidding.

Good morning!

It’s my Friday off, and I got to sleep in until 7:00. Well, assorted doggie whines kept waking me up, but I refused to get up.

Breakfast has been et (scrambled eggs, English muffins with honey, and a handful of grapes.) Later I will get a haircut, and a mani/pedi.

No other plans, except to make chicken fajitas for din-din.

I’m betting you get offered the job, Taters.

I’m glad someone at least thought about it. I was afraid no one was going to offer. :frowning:

My tongue is better, though, so no need for boo-boo kisses. See? :stuck_out_tongue:

I worked on the forecast for a couple hours from home last night… only to find out that Finance wants to revise it so we’ll have a new file. At least all the set-up work I did won’t be wasted.

KT’s going to Chicago for a music fest this weekend so I’m on my own! Woo! Going to the Arboretum tomorrow morning with a friend. Going to try to catch up with a couple college friends on the phone. And there’ll be lots of knitting and tv. Yay!

Good morning everyone. I have a busy day ahead of me. I should have gotten out of bed sooner.

Glad the tongue is better taxi. I’m glad that your set up work wasn’t wasted either.

Well, the sun is shining and I’ve got to get a move on. Back later.

Finally I can relax. It was a pretty hectic morning with three lunches all leaving by 10:40 but we all made it out on time. Now I’m sitting at one of my favorite restaurants waiting for my buffalo burger to be served
