Anti-choicers slip soft fetus toys into kids' candy bags at ND state fair

OK, so these two Ethnicks were walking down the street . . .

Hey- they can call each other that, but it’s not right when you do it.

Well I, for one, applaud that company for including the ethnic fetus choice. It shows how open-minded and diverse they are.

It was an edgy move. I bet they had to pray about it first.

I am pro choice but I would have no issue as long as there was no mention of abortion or religion (I am a Christian but I HATE sneak proselytizing) - just human development.

Now I want to get one of those toys myself - I’m sure my cat would love to play with it.

Here ya go.

Bubble gum and chocolate cigars, too.

So who says you have to go with how it was intended - nothing stopping anyone taking that nasty intention and turning it into something useful and positive. You know lemons => lemonade

Make up your mind.

Oh whiskey tango foxtrot! I delivered a med weight box from this same shipper to one of my customers today. Multiple small objects were jostling around inside it, and the recipient is (based on her mail) very religious.
Think it’d be wrong to ask for one to eat?

Oh and I betcha the kids loved the squishy fetus

I’ve always wondered if that guy on the first billboard ever got laid again. (If I recall, his ex took him to court and succeeded in having the billboard removed.)

I remember seeing those hideous “truth trucks” on campus at NC State…one of the groups also set up a display in the Brickyard that was a pictorial mash-up of fleshy red bits and anti-genocide slogans.

And I can’t find the article right now, but are these the same fetus dolls that made the news after some high school kids handed them out to classmates, who then proceeded to fashion them into obscenely funny accessories?

Oh good idea! I can think of lots of positive uses for a box of 50 fetus models.

Glue them on sandals as a cute decoration
Hair bows
Picture frames (using both the Caucasian and ethnic ones will make it more eye catching)
Microwave them-so cool, they become Picasso-like
Finger puppets (five little fetuses sitting on a fence…)

Omgsocute! I bet Pinterest is all over this.

I remember being offered a pin from the “pro-choice” booth at a fair as a child/young teen (middle school age, probably) back in the 80’s. It was two tiny bare feet together, and was supposed to represent the actual size and appearance of fetus feet at X months of development (don’t remember). I refused, as it really weirded me out.

You can get it here.

Put one in a condom and re-ennact the ending of 2001: A Space Odyssey

Putting aside the notion that a group generally gets to pick its own name. I mean in their minds, they are protecting life, in your minds you are protecting choice.

I would say anti-choice sets off all sorts of alarms. I would feel the same way about people that refer to pro-choice as baby-killers (and a lot of them do).

Anti-abortion is probably more neutral but like I said, I generally think they should be called what they want. I mean after all, we have all come around to calling the tea-baggers the tea party, right?

These little dolls do raise a question: do “pro-lifers” really think that a 10 week old fetus looks just like a miniature full-term baby, or are they just trying to fuck with the emotions of vulnerable people?

I mean “pro-life” :smack:

Only because the joke got old, not because it was ever inappropriate. (Besides, in apparent ignorance of its slang meaning, they called themselves Teabaggers before anyone else did.)

But - they are. I’m not getting why it’s wrong to label them what they are?

A lot of framing discussion in this thread. (Lakoff would be proud)

It seems right wingers are upset they are “losing the propaganda battle”.

Perhaps a dose or two of truth would be nice, but right now they just want to rename things.

Actually, according to Lakoff, right wing think tanks have spent tens of millions of dollars framing terms over the last 40+ years.
