I think people are interpreting devilsknew’s outrage as being directed at “Antione Dodson Instant Celebrity” or “Antione Dodson Media Sensation”. I think this is where people are confused.
I didn’t read the whole Thread, just wanted to see what new news got it bumped. It’s possible devilsknew is angry earlier in the Thread, I don’t know.
However, what I am pretty sure has got devilsknew pissed off would be the link that preceded the outrage postings:

I actually couldn’t tell if this was a real App or a comedy sketch.
Although, devilsknew could perhaps have better explained the source of the outrage, I do think (if I’m interpreting the rantings correctly) that there is a point to be made- though, perhaps, devilsknew is being a bit hyperbolic.
Other people on this board have criticized the very flawed system of sex offender registry- whether the objections be confined to instances of non-violent offenders of over-reaching sex laws being forced to register, or a more broad criticism of a “Scarlet Letter” practice in this day and age/ a disregard for an offender having paid his debt to society/ or the danger of Sex Offender Registry and Sex Offender Maps inciting vigilantism.
I personally am uncomfortable with the Sex Offender Registry at large, absolutely object to the inclusion many non-violent and non-predatory offenses, and strongly object to publicly available maps, lists, and forced introductions of “Hi, I’m a Sex Offender”.
So, if I understand devilsknew correctly, the objection is:[ul]
[li]Many on Sex Offender Lists are on the list unjustly and have had their lives destroyed by society’s paranoia[/li][li]Until recently, Homosexuality would be considered a Sex Offense- this being an example of Social Prejudice imposing the Sex Offender label on the innocent[/li][li]Although, Homosexual activity will thankfully no longer get you put on a Sex Offender list, there are still many on the list, just as innocent, whose lives have been destroyed by social prejudice and paranoia[/li][li]Antoine Dodson, devilsknew believes, should be particularly sensitive to unjust punishment for social taboos- specifically because he is homosexual[/li][li]The Sex Offender Tracker App is a horrifying tool for anything from (on the low end of the spectrum) imposing of social stigma on those undeserving of such animosity to (on the other end of the spectrum) inciting vigilante violence[/li][li]Antione Dobson’s sponsorship of the Sex Offender Tracker App is a betrayal because, had the technology been available in previous years, homosexuals, like Antoine, would have been among the targets[/li][/ul]
Personally I believe that, if this is devilsknew’s point then devilsknew has a valid point.

I can’t manage to match devilsknew’s level of outrage at Antoine Dodson for sponsoring the Sex Offender Tracker App, but I do find the App, itself, to be absolutely disgusting.

I don’t know how I bumped into this video. It was quite a while ago.
There was little to find humorous to me as the family told the story in such a way, and with such expressions on their faces, that they seemed to be discussing something of no more severity that a minor violation.
I’ve met people who are so familiar with violence that, while they still find it an outrage, have none of the shocky, confused affect that you would see in others. I always find it sad.
If it cheers you up any, I know people who are not used to violence, but still respond to it with courage and humor. So it really is kinda hard to tell by looking if someone is used to violence or not.
Though, if they live out here in a community where they raping everybody- chances are they are used to violence.
