Interesting response by him. He seems a perceptive and intelligent guy with a very realistic understanding of his degree of fame, not like some viral flash-in-the-pan superstars.

Antoine had no way of knowing that when he gave a fiercely indignant interview to a local Alabama TV station, it would lead to a chart-climbing song on iTunes, an Antoine Dodson Halloween costume, or an endorsement deal for an iPhone app. But he’s trying to be strategic about his message of supporting sexual assault victims, he said in a recent interview. Also, some words for his critics: “They really can bite me. For real.”

And to critics who think he’s just in it for the fame (he’s also writing a book, a dictionary of his own phrases, as well as an album) Antoine says, “If I stay in the limelight, I’ll really be able to get my story out. I ran across this thread when it was first posted but just now was reminded of it when I was searching for something else. I’m glad to see (from his wiki page) that apparently since then this young man and his family were able to use the money from some of the merch this spawned to move to a safer neighborhood. I don’t know how far he can ride this moment of fame, but I wish him and his family well. If I were him, I’d be doing what I could to take advantage of it while it lasts too!
