Antoine Dodson: Hide Your Kids/Hide Your Wife/ Husband Too cause They Raping Everybody Out Here" Guy

You’ve come in here and raped this thread. I think that makes all of us victims.

I tried to hide my wife from this thread, but you raping everybody out here!

Oh, and the song’s still funny.

To me, it appears to draw its alleged humor from the mannerisms of the poor underclass who are isolated in crime ridden housing projects.

And that’s funny. Isn’t it? Isn’t it?! BETTER SAY YES, DAMMIT!!

If you think those are the typical mannerisms of poor folks in the ghetto, you are misinformed. He is entirely over the top, his personality is bigger and flouncier than your typical ghetto kid. So, that’s funny. Also, ultimately, they joke isn’t on Antoine. He’s actually a cool cat and a bit of a hero.

Lastly, you appear to be freaking out a bit.

Would-be Comic: Knock knock.

Two Many Cats: …

WBC: Knock knock!

TMC: What?

WBC: Just say ‘who’s there?’

TMC: Why? I know it’s you.

WBC: It’s a joke.

TMC: Well, I don’t think it’s funny.
And… SCENE!

I know these mannerisms not typical. I know they’re exaggerated. They have to be to produce this sort of mirthful response which I just don’t happen to share.

I don’t find the video funny. I’ve been asked why I don’t, and I’ve tried to explain why I don’t. That is, I find the video reminds me of a mindset which annoys me. Does my finding the video annoying mean I’m freaking out?

No, it’s that you can’t stand the fact that other people find it funny and that you’re not listening to what they’re saying that means you’re freaking out.

So let me see if I’ve got this right…

You come into this thread and mischaracterize what’s actually being discussed. When that is pointed out to you, you continue to twist it into vague generalities and try to equate it with “lynching jokes” and are now try to lecture us (me, a woman, included) about crossing the line when all the while none of it has a thing to do with the OP.

Then as a throw away, you sort of concede that “Maybe it is more about the heroics of the brother” trying then to blame us for enjoying the humor of “racial stereotypes” but you don’t really have time explain to us exactly how that applies to the OP either. Even though the brother is obviously using that schtick on purpose and in a subsequent interview with the same news station said he was happy that the story was picked up as it was and he enjoyed the auto-tuned piece. And the joke wasn’t on him, it was made by him.

Is that about it? Because if I’ve got it wrong (and given the selections from your above post):
“While there are a few women who make rape jokes…”
“There’s a point where shock jokes about rape stop being funny, and start being uncomfortable.”
“Is it wrong to make rape jokes? No.”
"Is it wrong to insist on telling rape jokes to someone who is offended by them? Yes, definitely.
“You can tell rape jokes.”

Maybe you can summarize the “rape joke” in the OP for me.

While the above post would be quite funny without it, the addition of “And… SCENE!” brought a tear of laughter and appreciation to my eye.

To summarize the rape joke in the OP for **PlainJane **

“Hide your children, hide your wife, husband too 'cause they raping everyone out here…”

And so on.

Look, go ahead and laugh. I don’t care. But why do you insist that I laugh too?
By the way, I find Vinyl Turnip’s “knock knock” joke very funny. Thank you.

Nobody is insisting that you laugh. Are you insisting that we all be offended?

From your link, this is the very first listed comment:

Bonus points to Zing for bringing the term “flouncier” into all of this.

Nah. I just think I must have hung around with a better class of criminal. All I can say is, if the person who climbed in there is dumb, how dumb are the home owners/renters leaving a window open where there is a handy ledge? It wasn’t like they were living in Bel Air, where the neighbours don’t need to rob each other.

How do you know the window was left open? Maybe it was forced open. Or maybe it was open and they felt they could trust their neighborhood.

Caught this on your edit… classy.

And the very sixth listed comment:

“Wow, I am really late reading this as it was linked to today’s post, but where did all the rape apologists come from? Was this post linked to some pro-rape site (MRA) or something? Rape jokes are never funny. Ever…”

The poster of the comment goes on to talk about beating the shit out of rape apologists and so forth. So you see, not everyone finds rape jokes funny.

Why do you folks feel bad if I don’t find rape jokes funny?

Sleeps asked a good question that could use a direct answer:

I don’t think anyone feels bad because you don’t find it funny. I think your drama-rama “oh noes let’s do lynching jokes next!” in your first threadshittery comment is what got people’s attention.

Pretending that people are arguing with you simply because you have a different sense of humor is ridiculous and fools nobody no matter how many times you repeat it

Jeez. You kids need to lighten up.

Toward that end, I give you Boo Got Shot.

Those of us what live in Atlanta and listen to WSB probably remember hearing the original story live on the air. I know I do.

But what you said was:

Well, it was a different person and situation entirely, but right there is a comment, in fact the very first comment, from a rape victim who found the rape jokes funny. Clearly your “case closed” isn’t closed at all, and prolly isn’t even a case. Your attitude is not a universal one, not even for folks who “should” be “enlightened”.

Actually, you have yet to show any of us a rape joke that was made by Antoine Dodson. We’ve seen the phrase you quoted, and thus far, AFAICT, you are the only person who has interpreted that as a joke about rape.

Those two things (your insistence that a joke took place which no one else concurs & your insistence that such a joke would be inherently “wrong”), along with your seeming inability to drop a subject which is not even under discussion, are why people are singling you out for derision here, not the fact that you “don’t find rape jokes funny”.

Ah, forget this high horse, missing-the-point bullshit.

Alabama is a gold mine of weird videos, including the all-time classic Just Like a Mini Mall guy.

Then there’s this brilliant commercial for Cullman Liquidation Center.
