Originally from Essex, then about ten years in Surrey and Hampshire, then five years in Edinburgh, now resident of London, the only British city where prolonged eye contact on the train is grounds for justifiable homicide.
As far as I know, the nearest British equivalent to the SDMB is a column from The Guardian newspaper (aka “The Grauniad” thanks to a long history of typos) at Notes & Queries. It’s not a message board, though, just a general Q&A site.
