Yeah, I guess they don’t really happen here in Atlanta very often, either.

I get the feeling that the Atlanta get togethers don’t happen very often mostly because they don’t get planned, not because people wouldn’t go to them. I don’t know why I have that impression, but I do. Which is I guess why it seemed odd to me that if an April Cleveland fest was planned, and a June fest was also planned, that people wouldn’t go to both.
You say dropped panties like it’s a bad thing. 
I’m for both, April and June.
Hey, I’m up for both, too. Since some people can make it to one, and some to another, everyone gets covered. And the way March is going, it may not warm up enough by June to be out-of-doors! (and really, when this thread started, it was going to be March and June, not almost-May and June!)
Even if it’s in July, I don’t think many would come. If people would come to Dopefests two or three months apart, we would be having several of them a year already. We don’t. Why can’t people wait until June or July?
Seriously, I know what the resposne would be like. “We just had a Dopefest in April. It’s too soon. Hey, elmwood, how about next year?”
My yard is dry. Now. It’s 20+ feet above Euclid Creek. The back woods will be completely dry at the end of April.
If you DON’T want to have it at my place, just say so. I’ll just drink all this yummy microbrew I’ve been buying by myself.
Another thing, too, that I’m reading - some folks are saying one or the other. If I’m going to have a party in my yard, it would be a lot more fun if more than four or five people showed up.
In light of your points, I will go on record as saying I’d prefer Elmwood’s party over meeting at just some bar and grill.
Has anyone tried? I mean if there isn’t a party to go to, people won’t go…
If there is only one party a year, then you have to find one day that everyone is available, and it becomes very hard to plan. If there is one every few months, there is less pressure to get it exactly perfect, it’s easier to plan, there is less pressure… and yeah maybe you don’t get quite as large a turnout at each one (or maybe you do), but you will get more people overall, and people who can’t make it to one but can make it to another don’t get left out completely.

I concur. Mostly because I could work a date further off into my schedule more easily. But also, because gatherings like elmwood is planning are just nicer when the people there are able to get together only infrequently.
When I wrote my OP, I was unaware of the plans for a summer shindig at Elmwood’s. May I suggest a new vote, with a cutoff of Tues. April 18 (two weeks from today)? The options are:

June 3 - early
June 10 - later
(I’ve got a high school reunion on the 17th, and I’ll be out of town.)
June 24 - may be too close to the 4th of July weekend for some.
Maybe June 3, and June 10 for a rain date.
FWIW:
- Free beer. Lots of micros and exotic imports that I’ve been collecting over the past few months. Can’t drink it all by myself.
- Free wine. Every few weeks, I’ll pick up a bottle when I’m out shopping. Now would be a good time to share some of it.
- Past the back patio, there’s about 2/5th of an acre of woods that are part of the property. No problem with a bonfire.
- I’m on the East Side in South Euclid; about three miles from both I-90 and I-271. I’m about 15 minutes away from Pacers, the location of the past two Dopefests

I may be on my way to Paris Island around the 24th of June. Won’t know for a while. So my preferences would be earlier.
