I’m wondering if any other Dopers are members of Fotolog?
For the uninitiated: You can set up an account, upload photos, and view others’ pictures too. You can do it for free with a limit of one upload a day, or for five bucks a month you can upload more (not sure how many). You can go view other people’s photos, and you can leave comments on theirs and they can comment on yours. I’ve been at it for a few weeks, and it’s fascinating; there are some fabulous photographers on there.
There are themed “photo groups” that anyone can post to, for example one dedicated to photos involving the color green, baseball photos, cat photos, “Your City” photos, and pretty much anything else you can think of. And you can start photo groups on your own.
There’s also an interesting dichotomy at work; there are a lot of people who take good photos and put justifiable pride in them, and then for some reason there are lots of Brazilian teenagers who post “I’m so good-looking” pictures (no nudity). I think there was some press about the site in a popular Brazilian newspaper or something.
This one is fascinating; it’s about a woman named “Natalie,” and that’s all that’s known about her. Apparently someone found several photo albums at a junk store, full of pictures of a woman named Natalie. They document her life through the 70s and 80s; she’s always with different boyfriends, &c., and on vacations, and then the very last photos in the series are of her wedding. No telling why she threw them out. It’s interesting stuff; they’re uploading one photo a day, and inventing names and plots to go with these pictures. Anyone else as hooked on this as I am?
