Any way to do this - "force" remember website password - OS X

I use the OED online fairly often, since my local public library subscribes to their service I can log in by simply entering my library card number.

Unlike with many/most websites, my browser (Safari 5.1.9, OS X 10.6.8) does not automatically remember the “password”, and it does not give me the option of staying logged in…so what I generally do every time I want to use it is start Stickies and cut and paste it from a note I’ve created.

Not the biggest deal in the world, but I’m wondering if there some way to “force” Safari to remember the card number/password for this site as it does for most others?

It’s possible you clicked an option to never save passwords on that site. In Safari 6, Preferences / Passwords will show a list of sites. One of the options there is “Passwords never saved” - you can remove it. I think Safari 5 has a similar method.

Some websites explicitly disable browsers from saving their passwords (banking websites do this a lot). Third-party password managers (1Password, for example), can auto-fill passwords on these websites.

You could also try this script.
It’s pretty ancient, so there’s a good chance it won’t work.

OK, here’s another (maybe better) solution.

Thanks for the replies! - I did not see anything excluding the site from saving passwords anywhere in Safari Preferences, and the “Autocomplete Always On!” script did not work - but it led me to also find the “autocomplete” extension, which seems to have done the trick!
