Any WWE fans in the audience? (Part 1)

I saw this thread before seeing the match, and I think he might have honestly hurt it when he charged into the post. It was after that he was really favoring the left arm

Hahaha they are so overzealous about branding, they even had Curtis Axle wear a red neck brace. I love it!

Between NXT and Survivor Series I picked a bad weekend to reactivate my network subscription.

This PPV was the wrestling equivalent of The Phantom Menace. Way too much pretty with all the brand clothing. It’s like advertising that WWE had two shows was way more important than match quality. Too much dessert topping and not enough entree. I did like the Miz vs Corbin match, but the rest of the card was like basketball soup.

Kinda felt like a forgettable PPV.

Both tag team matches were pretty good, Shield v. Seamus and Cesaro actually excellent. Brock v. AJ went as expected, odd to see Brock carrying a match. Stupid ending to the main event, as I’m sure everyone expected. Not their worst show.

SS was compelling enough for me to stay awake the entire time, so I have to give it at least that much credit.

The matches themselves were, for the most part, good as well. Tag matches were about to expectations with The Bahr and the Usos being a bit more compelling. Nice to see Cesaro romantically take a shot for his lover Sheamus.

The Charlotte/Alexa match was to expectations as well. Both fought well and looked strong, the predictable ending is about the only thing that took it down.

Women’s SS match was probably my least favorite match of the night, but that’s only because of predictability and my dislike for Asuka. Here’s a fun game, count how many of Asuka’s moves aren’t a punch, kick, elbow or knee of some sort. You’ll have her submissions and that’s about it. She’s so boring and lol Asuka wins.

Brock and AJ was probably match of the night, but that’s entirely because Brock woke up on the right side of the bed today and decided to wrestle. This could have easily been Brock/Ambrose 2.0, but between selling the Calf Crusher and doing the steps spot, it was a really good match. I totally called the end though.

Men’s SS match was sooooo stupid. The “let’s have the team fight each other” works for the #kayfabenerds who always bitch about SS teams consisting of rivals, but in practice it just takes away from the match. Not that the match was anything to speak of anyway because it was 85% staredowns. Whatever the hell Trips is doing has a point I’m sure, probably a Trips/Angle match at 'Mania, but it was still jarring and kinda dumb. Here’s what wasn’t dumb, Braun’s stare at Trips. Soooooo funny! It was either “HHH used confusion, it was super effective!” or it was the look that Lance Cpl. Loudin Downey gave Kevin Bacon when the latter was pressing the former on Downey was in the room when Kendrick called for the Code Red.

Eager to see what tonight/tomorrow hold (other than Paige coming back).

That’s it, you’re out of the will. If you were here, I’d slap you across the face with my glove and challenge you to pistols at dawn. And to think, I relayed your message to Tommy Dreamer. :cool:

Hey man, I calls em likes I sees em. The same game works for Nakamura too, but his moveset is slightly more diverse (but only slightly). I understand “strong style” is a thing, and it’s what she does, but it’s the same 5 moves over and over and over again until she puts them in the Asuka Lock or whateverthehell it’s called.

I agree. It’s a ridiculous push. She hasn’t demonstrated any more ability than the average woman wrestler in WWE. It’s great that NXT wrestlers have the chance to move up to the show but a bunch of these pushes are absurd.

Let me see if I have this right: RAW now has:
the Who Cares Since He Got Pinned By The Smackdown Belt Holder #2 belt;
the Who Cares Since They Got Pinned By The Smackdown Belt Holders tag team belts;
the Who Cares Since She Tapped Out To The Smackdown Belt Holder women’s belt;
and, the Let’s See Him Actually Wrestle On RAW And Not Just The Network top belt.

I don’t get your point, they shouldn’t have lost? Why?

I think he’s saying those victories weren’t all that monumental, since there wasn’t any sense of long-term scores being settled. Part of what makes a match great is the history between the combatants, and since they were all on different shows and some of the matches were changed at the 11th hour, there was little buildup.

SS didn’t really thrill me, at least not nearly as much as NXT:Takeover did. I think a large part of it was everybody had to wear ring gear that incorporated their respective brand logos, and that just seemed the whole thing was one big long WWE self-promotion. At least it worked on a symbolic level when Braun Stroman tore off his RAM shirt to show he wasn’t beholden to HHH. Everybody else had to show they were nice, loyal wage slaves to the McMahons.

WWE missed their opportunity to call up Peyton Royce and Billie Kay. They are decent enough wrestlers, but they’re the ultimate example of “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts”. If Paige was going to come back with bodyguards and/or a faction, it needed to be them.

I don’t think so. Those two might never be main roster ready. Given that we are on different pages regarding female wrestlers, I’ll just have to go with the “I’m right and you’re wrong” argument regarding this, and conclude by sticking my fingers in my ears. :cool:

We probably agree on more than you think. I don’t like the pair too terribly much myself. I think they’re generic and have no future in the WWE beyond “female wrestlers #1 and #2.” But, that being said, they are much, much better together than they are apart. So until the women get tag belts (lord knows that’ll happen soon enough :rolleyes:) they need to be called up together and as a pair. I saw this as the best opportunity to do that lest they toil away in NXT forever and become the female Tye Dillingers (albeit with more screen time)

Christ, does Becky Lynch’s contract say she has to be the female Ricky Morton?

I love that Smackdown just copied what RAW and SS did.

SS had stupid infighting in the same team…so Smackdown has it.

RAW brought three NXT women up…so Smackdown does it. Lol

That being said, LOVE Ruby Riot, LOVE Sarah Logan and I’m kinda whatevs about Liv but why not?

Although that’s ANOTHER missed opportunity to bring up The Aussies

I think Peyton and Billie are the new Blake & Murphy - destined to stay in NXT forever.

I just realized Sarah Logan is the WWE name for Crazy Mary Dobson. She appeared in RoH a few months ago, as well as a buttload of other indies. I saw her mentioned in a Love & Rockets comic, where some latina girls were talking about somebody who went all Crazy Mary Dobson. She was also one of the Rosebuds, and played extra roles like Miz’s hairdresser. She’s like the Forrest Gump of wrestling.

With this many NXT callups, who’s going to get the ax on the main roster?

Hopefully no one since they brought up women and the WWE could use a big women’s roster
