Anybody else watching Key & Peele?

on Comedy Central?

Wiki says CC only ordered 8 episodes as of yet.

I think it is great. Sketch comedy is always hit and miss. I think this one hits a lot more than it misses.

Anyone seen it?

I thought their Presidential Anger Interpreter sketch was great. Otherwise, hit or miss.

I loved their skit about the R&B duo where one of them was on the DL.

That’s right I TOLD her. I went right in her face and I said, I said. . .::looks around furtively and whispers:: "Biiiiitch!.

I’ve only seen two episodes but I liked what I saw.

I loved the lil’ Wayne prison sketch. It was dark, but unexpected.

The best was the Presidential Anger Interpreter sketch.

I’ve only seen the “Obama’s Anger Translator” sketches on-line. Pure Genius!! No matter what else Key & Peele do, those videos will be in future retrospectives of the Obama era. Um, with a bunch of bleeps.

They seem like likable guys who are quite earnest but its one note humour.

Obama at a rap battle was quite amusing.

Comedy Central did renew this for a second season recently. The new boss over there has been doing good things lately.

I really like Key & Peele. I worry they’re trying too hard to shoehorn it into a Chappelle format (audience bits mixed with sketches) but I always thought Chappelle Show was overrated and I really love K&P. Some of the sketches are quite smart. The MLK/Malcolm X play was brilliant.

I haven’t seen much of it, just a few minutes before the Daily Show a couple times. The feel I got from this limited sampling was, “We’re black, so when we drag out tired old racial stereotypes, it’s not offensive, it’s funny!” I did grin a couple times at the Obama sketch, but that kind of falls into this category too.

People here seem to like it, though, maybe I’ll give it more of a chance.

Yeah, we’ve been watching it. Hit or miss, but more hits than misses, and occasionally damn funny.

I’ve been watching it and I really enjoy it. I always liked them on MadTV and I’m glad they have this show to keep doing sketches.

“I’m sorry I judged you!”

That was funny. Two gangbangers cannot perform a hit on a rival gang because one of them has pooped in his pants.

One of the things I like about the sketch I linked to is that it’s not about being Black as it is about having the ultimate topper. “You’re a bad-ass? I’ve got nuclear weapons and Seal Team 6.”

I kind of keep hoping they’ll break out into one of the ‘man up’ sketches.

But the jokes aren’t just that they’re black, they do a lot with the fact that they’re both HALF black and how the way they act depends on who they’re around - like the scene where the girlfriend wants Key to “Black it up” with the restaurant staff.

The one I quoted had little to do with their blackness and all to do with macho posturing about girlfriends/wives. Unless only black people do that. I never thought about that.

very much like this show and the comedians on it. hope it does well. though it does have the feel of a cleaner, 2 man chapelles show.

loved Key’s work on madtv especially this character i just cut from wiki:

“Jorge (Taco Hell), a melodramatic fast food worker who protests against the gross Americanization of Mexican food”

That was hilarious! Talking to 5 different people, going from white-Jeff to black-Jeff and back…

Definitely a great character.

From Jorge’s co-worker: “I got herpes. The end.”

One of my favorites is Coach Hines.

Coach hines had some great lines.

Yeah;

To guy: “I’m going to kick your ass.”

turns to other guy: “Thank you so much you were so helpful.”

What sucks is I suspect that the great characters they had on MadTV are probably considered MadTV property. I would love to see some more “Man up” sketches.
