There will be a new series on USA starting in July called Covert Affairs which stars uberhottie Piper Perabo as a CIA agent. The problem is, I don’t think I can buy her in that role. Perhaps she’ll surprise me with her acting chops, but she hasn’t yet so I doubt she will here either.
What say you? Are you looking forward to checking out this new series, or ignore it?
I don’t buy it for a second, but I’ll give it a shot simply because I like her. To be honest, though, I think I only like her because of her lesbian scenes with Jessica Pare. (imdb link)
Sub in Monk for White Collar, (which I’ve never seen), and I’m right there with you. USA does some deceptively good character driven shows based on what seem like gimmicky premises at first.
I can’t recall off the top of my head anything I’ve seen Perabo in, but I’m willing to give USA the benefit of the doubt based on the strength of Monk and Burn Notice alone.
Someone mentioned *Alias *and Garner and while I don’t think she created a believable CIA agent she definitely created an entertaining character that hooked me. That’s all I really look for.
I think this looks really cool, exploring the CIA is cool and kind of in the same vein as In Plain Sight - doing shows in settings you don’t often see.
I watched it last night. I liked it. It’s not like she’s playing an experienced CIA agent. She gets called out of training early for a special reason. I really enjoyed it. Good blend of humor, action and “awww that’s cute.”
