Ok it’s been a good two years (maybe a little less) and the Phlosphr household has grown exponentially with two siamese attack kittens, who have now graduated to being yearlings.
We’ve recently made a move to the desert southwest and the cats love it. Granted they gave up the rolling hills and a treehouse for sunny weather (more an owners debacle than anything else) but nontheless they love it.
However, in our female siamese (12 lbs+) we have seen a very odd behaviour. I come home from running errands and she flops down in front of me, practically on the threshold, and stretches the length of her body. I oblidge and kneel down to scratch her belly…and she let’s out the most audible

It’s a weird phenomenon! Because it started when we moved out west. She seems to not be able to go 10 minutes without plopping infront of us and wishing her neck, mouth, and belly be rubbed hard.
Does anyone else find this in their cats? Are our cats somehow insanely nymphomanics? Or am I simply stating my feline ignorance…and this is a normal behaviour? :)
My meezer girl does pretty much the same thing. She’s been fixed, but she’s desperately in love/lust with my husband, and keeps trying to Make Kittens with him. This involves snuggling up to him and presenting her butt to him, among other things. He doesn’t mind the snuggles, but he does mind the amorous looks and the presentation and the other attention that she showers upon him. She will try to snag his hand with her paw and get him to pet her, and when he’s getting dressed to go out (to work or just out running around) she’ll try to distract him and keep him at home.
She went through a heat cycle before we got her fixed, so we KNOW that she’s not in heat, but she does show a lot of affection to everyone.
She went through a heat cycle because she was sick when I adopted her, and she couldn’t go through the spaying operation until she recovered. That heat was very hard on all the members of the Bodoni household. She very nearly raped my husband. He was only able to fend her off because he is about 20 times her size. She DID practically rape the male cat, who until this time had been completely innocent of sex. He had been neutered at a tender age, but apparently she was able to tell him about the birds and the bees and the pussycats, and he was able to go through most of the motions, though he was unable to consummate the mating, which left her even more frustrated than ever.
I thought that a cat presenting its butt was just saying: “Dear ower, please smell my mood & health of today”.
My neutered he-cat is a bit of a sex-fiend, though. Sometimes, when he’s laying down with me and I’m petting him, he will become “excited” for lack of a better word. He will get large pupils, purr loudly, knead his front paws like mad OR hold them perfectly still, and his little pink stiffie will come out.
Anyway, I have no experience with female cats, but my male cat will do the same as yours, Maastricht. He used to do it more when he was younger, but he occasionally gets excited now.
When he was younger he would get funny, kinda, and make weird kitty noises. Then he’d do the knead paw thing on the floor. Eventually he’s approach the limb that he was to…seduce, and he’d nip a piece of skin, straddle the limb, and start humping it. We’d remove him, of course, and he’d then settle down. It was quite weird.
He has a very active relationship with one of my daughter’s (now his) stuffed animals. Twice a day, he’ll climb on top of it, purring loudly, and hump it for a bout five minutes.
I have an unspayed female cat* who goes into heat every few weeks. I also have a male neutered cat, but he was neutered well into adulthood and has the appearance of a big hulking tom (broad shoulders, jowls - think John Wayne). (He was a rescue; I didn’t choose to wait to neuter him.) The female has become desperately in love with him for some reason. She ignores my other male who was neutered early. She must not realize that the “tom” is neutered. I guess he doesn’t realize it either because after a year of her longful pining for him, he started “having sex” with her. Although he doesn’t quite get it right, so he must have forgotten some details about his days as a carefree bachelor cat, roaming the alleys making little tuxedo babies. Sometimes he’s on her the wrong way, or he obviously is having difficulties. He looks so confused sometimes.
When I catch them and say, “What are you doing?” he gets an embarrased look on his face and runs away. My mother tells me I am spoiling their fun.
*Note: she is unspayed because she is a totally feral cat. I cannot catch her. I cannot trap her. I can’t even pet her. She NEVER goes outside (she doesn’t even want to) and is living comfortably in my house and has no contact whatsoever with unneutered males. I just haven’t been able to catch her to get her spayed. I am working on a solution for this with my vet. My vet says that their “having sex” is not dangerous as long as the female is not being hurt, which she isn’t.
Yeah, so I had a dream one night that I had been taken captive and my captor had tied my legs together. I woke up to find myself lying on my back with my legs crossed, and my male (fixed) cat humping my feet. :eek:
