andrew rode in and walked in with his girls. fergie not invited, she is out of favour again after the “sting” thing. i believe they are still living in the same house though.
and yes, the york girls are usually very pretty, a mix of andrew and fergie, perhaps they are in the “crazy experimental” twenties.
andrew is still the best looking of the 4.
earl spencer was there with upcoming wife no. 4, as well as diana’s sisters.
I missed the second better one! Damn.
I got up and tuned in as the Queen was leaving Buckingham Palace, so I missed Andrew. I had forgotten the sting thing.
Such a lovely event and so nice to see such a large crowd on its best behavior and enjoying the day.
Bald spot on the groom and his red uniform looked, well, really big!
David Beckham looked hotttt!
Loved the hats! It was like Crazy Hat Day! I predict the next fashion headline: “Hats are BACK!”, and they are always trying to bring hats back, but maybe this time hats really will come back, for a while.
I liked the wedding gown, rather retro and subdued. I was inordinately pleased to see it had actual sleeves, and I hope this signals the end of the horrible strapless gown craze. Looking at the pictures in the Sunday paper, every single bride is wearing the ugly boring strapless gown like some kind of goddamn uniform. Stick figure or hefty heifer, they’re all stuffed into a tube with skirt, and I’m darned sick of it. There!
The little ballerina gown girls were freaking ADORABLE! Want one!
I like when Guy Ritchie showed up ALONE. That was so cool, 'cause you know that Madonna was at home all mad, 'cause she could’ve went if she didn’t divorce him.
And you know Madonna is just the type to say “I don’t care,” but deep, DEEP in her heart she really cares.
Someone on that side of the Pond 'splain to me William’s choice of uniform.
He is a member of the Royal Air Force, correct? So, why not that uniform? Why the Irish one? Why is Charles in a different one? And Harry in yet another one? (and Philip etc)?
And why no sword for William or did I just miss it? And what was wrong with Harry’s posture? Has he suffered some kind of injury that makes him walk like a hunchback? I’m only being partly facetious–he wasn’t exactly dignified, IMO.
I wasn’t invited either, Mark, but I blame the USPS. They probably lost my invite or shredded it in the sorting machine.
*The Prince, who is commissioned in all three Armed Services, has seen service with the Army, in The Household Cavalry Regiment, as well as with the RAF, with whom he is currently serving as a flight lieutenant.
The Queen appointed him to the honorary rank of Colonel of the 1st Bn Irish Guards in February this year.
An officer from the Foot Guards said that the Army was “chuffed to bits” about the Prince’s choice of military dress: “The Irish Guards have just returned from a pretty tough tour of Helmand so they are immensely pleased that they will be represented but we would not like this to be at the detriment of anyone else.”*
St James’s Palace insisted that the Prince had chosen the uniform of the Irish Guards because it was his “highest rank”. A palace spokesman said: “If he had not gone for that he would have had to have chosen between his RAF and Household Cavalry uniforms and because he is a similar rank in both of those, it would have been quite a difficult decision.”
As for Harry, that’s the uniform of the Blues and Royals, the regiment he was commissioned into in 2006 and whom he served with in Afghanistan
Huge extended family. Wiki tells me that King Peter was George V’s god-son.
Where were the descendants of King Zog of Albania, that’s the crucial question? The King of Tonga made it, and some of the commentators thought he was Muhammed Al-Fayed. :dubious:
Also, Prince Michael of Kent could pass for Tsar Nicholas of Russia. Or Kaiser Wilhelm.
Probably worth noting in uniform terms that he does hold other appointments that sound much more impressive than a mere “Colonel”, but those aren’t actually commissioned ranks.
That actually happened to him a few years ago in Russia when he attended the re- intermittent of Czar Nicholas and his family in St Petersburg. He was walking down the street and some of the residents thought they had seen a ghost.
A friend of mine is there. Here’s a first-hand account:
So I’m standing at a barricade, and everyone but me has to pee and they’re literally doubled over in pain. The police were letting the buses carrying guests through. So I’m the only one waving like a retarded seal and I look and Chelsy Davy makes this goofball face at me and mimics my wave. I said, “Oh my gosh, HI CHELSY!” and she just starts cracking up. I guess she’s my kinda girl.
The US Ambassador was there. The previous two UK Prime Ministers weren’t invited either.
Edit: The US President wouldn’t normally be invited, it’s not a state occasion, and even if it was it’d be the VP who turned up. Perhaps when it is QEII’s funeral?
