Anyone for a Royal Wedding watchalong thread?

OK, hold the weather then.

But have a buttered crumpet on me!

It’s no more ridiculous than some of the headwear on the ladies. It was vaguely pretzel-like, but the shots of the arriving guests showed some even sillier-looking hats.

Peter Phillips/Autumn Kelly wedding–Beatrice’s hat was a bunch of butterflies.

the dress is very grace kelly. very close to what she wore at her wedding.

loved the veil, soft and non-scratchy looking.

the tiara was made for the duchess of york, the queen’s mother, by her hubby at that time duke of york. given to the queen, who lent it to catherine. very nice line going from future queen to future queen.

prince harry is nearly all spencer in looks and build. william looks like both sides. too bad the boys didn’t get the spencer hair patterns. poor william has his uncle edward’s hair pattern.

nearly forgot, louey, louey!

The crowd moving down the Mall is amazing.

I had the same thought. With his hat off, he looked quite a bit like his Uncle Edward. When he had the hat on, he looked just like his mother.

Holy shit - the size of the crowd walking down the Mall is mindblowing!

Oh the hats. I’m no fashion expert, but I’ve seen better looking antlers on wild animals than that one tan hat. Was there an ugly hat contest?

They’re waiting for the Prince and Kate to kiss? Don’t the British get Internet porn?

I like the way the crowd is walking so controlled and slow. They ought to just let them stampede

I see a lot of flags in the crowd. I’ve seen the Union Jack, the English flag, the Scottish flag, even the Wales flag. I saw Canada which I can understand as it’s part of the Commonwealth, but I saw at least three Japanese flags.

At least they look like Japanese flags. They’re all white with a red circle. Is that Japan? Or could it be a similar flag for some British thing?

::cough Hewitt cough::

My god, it’s a flood of people. But so controlled.

Jesus, there’s like a million people in Hyde Park and Trafalgar Square.

Ignorant Yank here… isn’t that big round structure in front of Buckingham Palace a fountain? Why isn’t it on?
It does seem to be a staging area for the photographers.

i enjoyed the interview with the pm earlier. his story about camping out to see diana and charles, ending up as pm with a really good seat at wm and kate. really sweet.

the crowds are really moving now and nice and orderly.

The BBC website is groaning under the strain, seems to have degraded to a lower bandwidth version.

It’s the Victoria Memorial and it’s a sculpture.

Thanks. It looks like it should be filled with water and have a couple of spouts running.

did you see the wedding cake hat? complete with wee bride and groom on top. now that was a hat!! (the hat was in the crowd, not in the church)

yosaffbridge, i believe it does have water on the sides.

Fergie’s daughters both had some strange things on their heads. (at least I think that was who they were)
