Get some rest and for Pete’s sake don’t take on any stressful tasks right now.
Glad to hear from you, dude. I hope you continue to do well.
A correction here.
The Straight Dope Message Board staffers are not here to serve as your social secretaries.
You have chosen to hide your contact information from public view and that’s your privilege. But you can’t hide your contact information and expect the staff to take your messages for you. You must make other arrangements.
Glad to hear you’re on the mend. Hope your ladywife is doing better, whatever’s going on with her.
Tuba, to be clear I expect nothing of you. Least of all do I expect you to be my secretary.
On many occasions, I have received emails from admins, including both you and Ed Zotti, saying that a member was requesting my email, and asking whether I wished to reveal it. You were, I suppose, secretaries for those members.
Finally, nothing is going on with my “ladywife”. I requested prayers for her simply because she has to deal directly with my health issues, not to mention many issues of her own. I am not “on the mend”, an idea you took from God knows where. That’s why I’m trying to hurry and finish the book. If I were “on the mend”, I could take my time.
I should have known better than to revisit here and respond to this thread.
Meanwhile, I’m clearing out my mailbox. It’s mostly junk from staff anyway. If you need my email, other-wise (or others of you), just PM me. I’ll check PMs for a couple of days.
So much for that. It won’t let me delete my PMs. It says I have 101 out of 50 allowed, and so I guess the program has a math bug. Sorry, other-wise. (You had my e-mail before. It has not changed.)
Are you dying, man?
Members get more PMs than Guests. You have switched back to Guest status which is probably why that happened.
I do hope that you’re on the mend.
Well a heart attack is all well and good but when are you going to help me move those boulders?
I kid, I kid, prayers for you and yours.
Stay healthy and be well, Liberal.
You’re so amazingly good at that. It must be something you treasure.
In like manner, may Sarah Palin stay well-informed and be wise.
Otherwise, I note that someone on the staff has managed to clear my PMs. You may request my e-mail now (and of course, I will give it to you.) You too, Mr. Dibble, if you’re around.
Liberal - it’s good to hear you’re still with us, though I am very sorry to hear you’ve had a rough time recently. I will send a prayer for both you and Evyln - I can’t imagine how hard this must be for her.
Keep fighting the good fight.
Thanks, leander. And thanks for the thread. Thanks to all the people who expressed sincere concerns and well wishes, and especially to those who prayed for Edlyn. This is probably my last visit, since I checked my PMs for a couple of days as I said I would. Although I will miss you people terribly, and will always have mostly fond memories of the SDMB, I feel compelled to write the book. I think it will take about a year. I feel a real need to hurry. I’m sure you can understand. But keep in mind that these are only atoms and subatomic particles. They aren’t even real. The universe is nothing but a probability distribution. Reality is metaphysically stable. In a very real sense, some of us will never die. The rest are already dead. That’s a teensy peek into my book. Watch for it in case it actually does get out there. It’s called “The Aesthetical Jesus”. Dr. Brian Farah, MD, PhD is writing the Foreword – a great honor.
…
Lib, I disagree with your stance on the reality of things, but yeah, we’re all dying one day at a time. Course, we’re all living one day at a time, too.
I hope to see your book when it comes out. Probably won’t understand your arguments half the time, but that’s fine.
In the meantime, if you ever have a question about anything from home wiring to quantum physics, a debate point, or just an opinion on a TV show or an insight on book binding glue…
We’re here, and we’re always interested. You’re family.
So do your thing. Freak freely.
Lib - I hope it’s not your last post. At least drop by once in awhile and let us know how you are. Keep us up to date on the book. Keep us up to date on YOU.
And all my best thoughts and wishes to Edlyn (apologies for the misspelling).
