I can’t read or speak Japanese, and I certainly don’t get Shonen Sunday, but has anyone else been following the progress of the Inuyasha manga thus far? Having seen the entire anime, I think the anime summaries here are particularly good, so I trust his info on the manga.
I’m rather psyched by the development with the Datsuki. I was expecting Inuyasha to end up getting two swords like Sesshomaru has and maybe set himself up for ending up following in his footsteps somewhat if he became a full youkai, but it’s pretty badass how the Tessaiga can counter Moryoumaru’s youki-absorbing powers. Kaze no Kizu, Bakuryuha, red Tessaiga, Kongousouha, and now dragon scales. It keeps getting better, doesn’t it?
And It seems now that they’re getting pretty close to wrapping things up: Kikyo’s got her plan, Kohaku’s got his, and now Naraku’s heart in the form of the baby/Moryoumaru is working against him. Things should get even more interesting from here.
I’m interested to see where their adventure in the present day will go. Either the incident with the sink will develop into some funny antics, or it will cause a fight between Inuyasha and Kagome that will drag out for a couple of issues and maybe lead to some angst about how Inuyasha isn’t fit to live in the modern era or something like that.
Whatever the case, I can see any number of endings for the series. It’d be nice to see something approaching a happily-ever-after style ending, but based on what I know of Takahashi’s other work, we probably won’t get to see much of one.
Anyone else have a take on what’s next?
